ooooh! Yeah, that's!... I totally forgot that you could do that, but... yeah thats a great idea! :D Thank you so much! I am still working on making my videos high quality! I'm glad you enjoy it :)
I think this is the first video to make the distinction between the old and new building styles that I've vaguely thought of but have never really seen. 🎉Confetti
I watched this video so many times by now. I just keep coming back to it. This became the main building style of mine. It just feels more comforting. I just think that modern building styles get covered in layers and layers of gradient, slabs random colors and... they just feel... bloated. This just sits right with me.
I made this video almost a year ago. I find it so fascinating. It seems like I have struck a nerve for a lot of people. I am really, really happy that you still like my video that much! Makes my work feel long lasting. I do love both styles of building, but you are definitely right. The beta, or more generally nostalgic building style, has an unmatched sense of comfort to it. :] Thank you for commenting! :D
A few more tips: - use cobwebs for chimney smoke - use depth instead of texturing. Make your walls 2 blocks thick and use recessed wall panels, supporting columns etc - if you're emulating early release versions you can even use slab and stair patterns on the walls - Leaves when combined with wood and trapdoors make for great flower pots, hedges, houseplants, etc. - you can cheat a special double slab block that inspired modern smoothstone. We used to use that all the time in beta days. - use snow blocks, lapis and the top side of sandstone in your build. These have very smooth textures (similar to the double slab block). - Red wool used as carpet with sandstone or snow blocks surrounding it feels like an expensive marble floor. - You can use lapis as pool liner to increase the perceived depth of a fountain or pool. - push a half slab or wooden stair into a minecart put signs on it to simulate a usable chair. We used to do that all the time back in beta.
omg this and your "building in beta" video really helped me to make some buildings look nostalgic, and it's a style that not much people use. it feels so unique y'know :D seriously, ty! your videos are awesome
Thanks for this video. I just found out "Cascades" datapack, which mixes beta 1.7 and 1.18 generation. Now i really found what i wanted, and your video really brings backs memory's of old minecraft and old building style.
Whaaa- Awww WOw! Thank you so much! :D I appreciate that so much! I sometimes feel a little insecure about my voice but now that you said that I feel alot better! And I sometimes question if people find my videos even funny but now that you specifically pointed these things out. You probably made my week. :D thank you so much! :D
You know when your old when your normal building style is considered nostalgic. Seriously apparently how I build in my world hasn't been updated for the past 11 years lmao
its always useful for me to take inspiration from other people's builds from older editions or base it off structures in game (like jungle temples and nether fortresses)
I feel like the over the top mega builds with hyper realistic shaders, and the monotone style of building to the beat, building in hardcore, having a literal INDUSTRY of every material needed, paired with the fact that their building something from a life sized optimus prime that transforms into the entire constellation that is Orion, makes me just go sick. I really love the folks who play with minimum shaders, build something realistic to a survival/hardcore world, and actually work hard for the materials. I really love MC updates tp this day just cuz their simple enough. In my opinion, there is a way to misuse the art of simplicity, yet there is a way to misuse complexity. I'm totally not saying this cuz my pc can only run MC and TF2 so far.
I really wish some of the mods you recommended were for mcpe, but AMAZING video either way! I will be using some of these tips. Also, your voice sounds like a mix of owiebrainhurts and old chipflakes voice. A mix of comical and formal. Love it!
As a maniac of this game age of 21. Thanks for the tips and such. Not looking at your sub count i thought you have some hundred k's subs. Good luck with youtube pal.

@featherdude4074 I try to reply to every comment because I like the interactions with people online. It might not be possible in the future, but I'll keep reading. :D
Thank you for the tip, I will try it out next time! :) I still haven't really figured out where the best position for it is. I am working with a gaming headset, so the mic is adjustable, though I feel like if I put my mic where the producer intended, it just sounds terrible. :'D I found out that it is best when I sort of breathe over the mic, but I can't get it always right. I'll do my test recording, and everything sounds fine. No weird breathing noises. And I record my scripts, and it just... you know. It does what it wants. Funny thing, I *might* get a better mic on my birthday, which is in October. :D
Same! I heavily dislike the modern build style standards in Minecraft these days! I personally prefer nostalgic yet simple Mojang-style of buildings to blend it with the structure generation.
I feel like everytime I come back and play this game no matter all the new blocks I stick to my main block pallet from like 2011, cobble, oak wood, and stone bricks.

I coupled this tutorial along with the Minecraft handbooks from back in the day and made a temple tower on my island spawn. I took most of my inspiration from the Mage Tower Island from page 71 of the construction handbook.
Why do you think it looks souless to texture? I think texturing shows that the builder loves the build so much that they are willing to put in a lot of effort into it. :) Just my opinion though, you can have a different one...
@@Nettom_Minecraft Because everyone does it nowadays. The building style has become really uniform and dull, if you look around UA-cam every single UA-camr builds like that. Not to mention the fact that stuff like coral or concrete powder makes absolutely no sense as a building material statics wise. All buildings in real life are built from one material as well. And if you can't make beautiful builds without using 30 different blocks for one wall, maybe you just suck at building.
@@mr.zimbel you are not wrong i myself rarely do texturing, even if i do it was just simple noise texture with less contrast and sensical blocks like how we can put andesite and stone or stone and cobblestone where both intended for natural or structural builds i hate using dead coral too because it doesnt makes sense
I don't build in beta and use all the possibilities of newer versions (and still want more), but I always use Programmer Art and texture packs for the new textures. I just like them more most of the time.
Girls and help because this is gonna make me cry I feel really Arbuthnot blocks like I miss the old Blocks that I can build with and be nostalgic with it😢
I love it too! Do you prefer old Minecraft over the new game, or do you have a preference? Or is it just sort of like: I love Minecraft in all its versions and stages? To me, I love minecraft in all its stages and Versions, but there is definitely something about the older Versions that the new game can't really replicate. :D
I started playing on 1.6.4 and stopped at 1.9. After many years I started again, but on 1.12.2 on a server with friends. I told them: "Either we pick a vanilla new versions or old with mods". They replied that they would pick an old version. I thought: "Great, I can still remember 1.7.4!". And then they picked 1.12.2, which is very new to me. I'm yet confused with vanilla and there's many mods as extra... XD What about your question... I prefer versions between 1.6.4 and 1.10. I also tried very old versions, and they were kinda fun. I think that after years of growing any game would lose its simplicity, which many players like in older versions. It's just nostalgia makes them want to stick with older versions and reject modern versions with a lot of content. For me, if I would move to 1.20 (or which version is the latest?) it would be a brainstorming for me. Like if I'm playing Minecraft 2.0 (I wonder why how long this will go until they will stop updating it)
I can't remember exactly when I started playing, but I think it was around 2013. In my head, there are two versions of minecraft: The Old Minecraft. (Everything before 1.13, the crazy ocean update) And the New Minecraft. (1.13 and up.) To me, the 1.13 update was the first time that I wasn't super excited for an update. Maybe sad even. I remember thinking: "What if minecraft doesn't feel like minecraft anymore?" I had a hard time accepting that the game just changes with time. I don't know what that happened exactly when 1.13 came out, but I assume it was just the fact that the update was the biggest at that point and didn't have that simple feel anymore. I like the new game aswell ofcourse but just for different reasons. When I want a simple and chill experience, I'll go with the old minecraft. When I want to build with tons of blockpallets and build massive structures, I'll use the new minecraft. The interesting thing is that I really haven't ACTUALLY played the new versions. I mean, yes, I made some worlds and builds here and there, but not anything on a big scale. I'd love to play the newer versions sometime. I might even make a new letsplay series when I finish my beta let's play. :D
