64 Corvette Stingray Backroads Hard Run

- Just a little shakedown run after a complete mechanical rebuild with a custom frame, C-4 suspension, 5spd, and tunnel rammed 355ci. Video was shot with lousy coil-overs that were a bit weak, and both half-shaft outside u-joints eating themselves leaving a bit of play in the rear - moved one way on accel, the other on decel... but still a fun ride.

One thing..!!!!
You just made my day by taking me on this sweet ride
It's on it's second life. I rebuilt the entire car, except for the dash, after totaling it....which occurred after I put over 90,000 miles on it. So I treat it exactly the way it was built to be treated... :)
What's the point in having them if not for the experience of driving them?😊
Is this in Lenox, Massachusetts?
That put a smile on my face. Felt like I'm sitting in the passenger seat. What a ride! Reminds me of the good ole days when I was young and carefree.
Great to see someone putting a thrashing on one of these old c2s!!!
My dad just passed and now its time for his 64 Corvette he bought when he got back from Vietnam gets to run like that. That is how he drove it always, its a coop and I would bump my head on the back window when he would slam it. My oh my how much fun we had! Love the video, that is how they want to run!
Back for another blast in 2023 hahaha
love your videos very exciting she's a monster that's for sure
Damn son that vette loves to party 🎉. 🍻
Wow! fun ride! I'd say you need more tire or softer compound unless it was a cool day (under 65 F). It's traction appears be similar to a 500 WHP car. I had a vortech V3 si equipped C5 and my current C6 Z06 have similar traction impairments under 65 degrees. Both cars ran 325's in the rear. I'm running 4S's on the Z. They do very well for a 300 wear rated tire. Better than the 200 rated Nitto's I had on my C5. Good to see it being driven & enjoyed!!
Old school 15”x 12” wheels with 295/50 bfg’s
That looked like fun, just being normal.
Great to see a classic being driven how it's meant to.
Ahhhh yes- great way to start my Saturday in Snowy New Hampshire...One of my Favorites.
Thanx for the Blast...That made my Morning. Glad i diddn't have my coffee with me.
i grew up in this car with my dad warren he had 64 66 78 vettes it brought back great memories of my dads crazy fast awesome rides , my mom still has her 70 vette my dad bought her when she gave birth to my brother in may 1970,warren lived to be 71,i grew up sharing passenger seat of vettes with my brother part of river city corvettes in the 1970s, im 43 now a woman dreaming of getting a vette to drive crazy with my son.ha ha this is great, now this video brought me the greatest memories
Wilson, your license plate should read "YOLO" :-)
Awesome ride, thank you for sharing, this made my day !
Had to stop back and let ya know what a good run you had,Wilson...hago buddy and thanks
Amazing! Absolutely love watching this. Please make more!
New motor is complete - so soon
i feel like you're pushing that car to its absolute limit. absolutely crazy!
Been driving it hard for 21 years... we get along great 😂
Awesome car, video and drive. Love it all :)
awesome bit of driving there dude
Saw all the comments on the camaro site - got more than a few guys whose wives must keep their balls locked up for them in a drawer somewhere, lol. Things always look worse on video - been running like that for 36 years, and 19 of em in that car - over 130,000 miles of it.
This is beautiful 😢
Perfect Video Hands Down..
CLAPPING BRO I STILL CANT BELIEVE WHAT Im SEEING
Awesome car man. One of my favorite corvette vids, and I've seen a few of them. Got my first vette last summer, 04 z06, and I too love hittin the backroads. The C2 is, in my opinion, about the baddest looking car ever made, and yours is bad ass. Look forward to seeing it with some fresh pain on it. Little cage work and driver restraints might order judging from your driving style... just sayin. Stay safe.
at 00:00:35 i could see the grin on your face from behind! that car is disgustingly awesome!
I have taken this ride with you several times, better all the time.
I have to get one you made my day
FINALLY YES!!! Someone finally has the balls to take out an old vette and rip her! yes!! now ima takr out my 71 340 4 speed Demon for a rip:)
I love the tunnels myself. Think I’ll make a video like this this summer. 13 GS. Have to get me some 🧤
best answer ever! that car is meant to be driven hard!!
great job with this vid, you totally feel thoughout that your in the backseat.
drive it like you stole it!
Thank you
And he got the driving gloves on he's gets serious about this
The real-life transporter! LOL
Need more new videos of this vette.
Car is currently at a friends have a new torque arm build for the rear diff - kept busting shit up 😂
Well, back again to watch the best video of how a classic vetted should be treated.
My heart was pounding as if I was rolling with you. Awesomeeeeeeee bitchin car Brother
Wow! Givin half a chance she will turn and bite you! Lol!
That’s the fun of it 👍
Ohhhhh yeah! Just what I needed to feel. Building a pro-tour 65 this winter - been down 2 years & CANT WAIT to hit the road come spring w/ 80's Rock cranked! Had a BBC 396 - yours seems a little hotter. 502? Going LS3+... THANKS!
65 Vette it's just a little 355ci ex-ZZ4 crate motor - now with AFR heads, tunnel ram, and healthy hyd roller. Get that LS to 500hp or more at the crank, and you'll have a blast 👍
Wilson Beckett Your vette must be a freakin` Beast dude! Love your Vids. I restored my 69 vette targa over the past 2 years..... shes finaly done with a 383 stroker in it. It made 430hp to the rear wheels on the dyno and shes pretty Quick but yours seems to be a Little more than 500hp right?
NEIN !! It's about 500hp - at 2,900 lbs as is, that's all ya need in one of these to have a blast - kept it small block for weight and budget.
It's good to let it get out and breath a bit. Kind of curious on your tire sizes. Looks real nice, sounds better
295/50/15 on 12” in rear, and 275/50/15 on 11” in front.
Nice to see it being driven as it was meant to be. No car show nerd. Dust that XK Jag
That car Rips! I'm curious about the cam and heads you are running on that small block.
Afr 195 heads and a custom comp cam 230/236 and around 540/560 lift, short travel hyd lifters and rev kit springs on top of the lifters. Spun to 7,000 fairly well, but I usually kept it below 6,500. After 10 years, Finally burnt a piston on a high speed run in the 160’s - cold winter air, not enough fuel - New dart block 402 is now ready with the same heads and more cam. Videos coming
1 roll and yur done son thanks 4 the video
Machine Gun Nest they don't roll unless you wreck em wrong 😜 - plus we've had over 100,000 miles to get acquainted 😃
Wilson Beckett Be careful i know cars and a tiny bit of stone, gravel, liquid, will change your direction..
Machine Gun Nest no doubt - even totalled the car in 2006 - but have been playing this game since I was 16 - for 35 years now 👍
Wilson Beckett lol yur a mad man you'll B ok..
thats the way to party..........
YES!!!
Must have extensively upgraded suspension
Yes - tube frame, C4 suspension, ZR1 steering rack.
Ahhhhhhhh! its like gearhead thearpy
jonniebakstix, it's my medication for sure... Best if taken often 😜
what kind of carburetor do you have on that make and model
Riccardo Depaoli , it's two small Holley 450's on a Wieind tunnel ram. The carbs come with secondary metering plates instead of jets, so I added a kit that enables the use of jets, and changed over to 50cc accelerator pumps - those changes plus lots of initial timing in the distributor, eliminate the stumbles must often associated with a tunnel ram setup on the street.
thanks, looks like it has great response !!
I am wondering how much a hot rod corvette like yours is worth? approximate
No clue. I’ll never sell it, so my kids can worry about what it’s worth 😂
What moter ,and rearend are you running ?is it 327 ?sure seems to be the perfect street set up.
In this video - 355ci ZZ4 short block, and afr heads… good for about 500hp. Built a new 402ci for it 3 years ago
@@wilsonbeckett9487 sounds great !
Brings back great memories of fetting rudes in my brithers buddies 67 427 big block convertible vette. He drove it just like this, and still does till this day ! Yes its worth a bizillion dollars now, but they are meant to be pushed and reward those who know how to really drive them as such.
I drive my 2017 Z-51 Stingray in this manner also. Owned it for 3 years now and on my third set of Michelin Pilots already , Ouch$$ but if youre gonna play youre gonna pay !!
Keep those side pipes blasting out that awesome V8 roar, and the tires smoking buddy !!!! 🏎________💨 !!!!!
Damn dude about how many speeding tickets do you get a year?
tn18977 one on average, sometimes 2.
Man I don't scare easily on rides I've done my share of similar runs in my 99 Z28 6speed almost 500 rwhp but I'll tell ya what. You had my butthole puckering up through the computer screen lol. Great car great driving but you definitely took some risks that I would not be willing to take. So now I ask are you and the car both still alive and how many tickets/trips to jail/impound lot have you had to make because of this car???
I get pulled over once or twice a year between this and my daily driver '06 mustang conv, but never more than 20mph over - I'm pretty careful and always have my Valentine One. I've been driving this car for 15 years and about 120,000 miles, so we are pretty used to each other - the risks always look worse on camera than for real :)
Yea I can understand that sometimes video's make things like hill climbs not look very steep when in reality they are very steep. Having that many miles and seat time in a car definitely makes a difference in confidence levels. I would love to get me a camera mounted up in my Z and get some video's uploaded. I would still go for a ride along ... hell we only live once and no feeling I have experienced can reproduce the rush from a good road run. Have fun brother
Dude... are you still alive lmfao, sweet ride.
Yea man! Life gets busy. Been playing with my new dream boat.
@@wilsonbeckett9487 Good to hear! lol, I have seen a video of it. I'm jealous, congrats.
I'm pretty sure that car is going to be your casket (coffin)
What else have you been sure of, lol. One mans fear is another mans pastime. :)
lol
Destroyed by the wrong steering wheel
Dude the whole car is modified - only the interior comes anywhere close to stock - with the original big diameter dump truck size steering wheel, the 2 turns lock to lock steering is too slow 🤷♂️
Sure that’s not Jeff Gordon there??
if there was one
Christ, if I was driving that the last thing I'd be doing would be on the wrong side of the road on a blind-corner! Have a little more respect for it!
But other than that it looks, and especially sounds, out of this world!
sorry the 427 Ford powered cobra was faster.
Only when in the hands of someone who can drive - and you couldn't drive it far from home because it didn't have a top, lol. My best friend has one, but he is limited to how often he can actually DRIVE it, cause he's F'd if it rains. One was a true production car, with 90,000 some made from 63-67, while the other consisted of less than 500?
