    I just want to thank you for this video , I was having the same issue with my 42 inch and it stops the issue I wasn't so much having an issue with the slide but,more the locks in the back would go and it would stay open a tiny bit. again thanks a lot for this saved me a trip back to the store and having to take all my tools out and back into a new box that wasn't needed . cheers

    Great tip. I believe this may be the same issue with my Craftsman rolling cart drawers. I really like the cabinet, but the effort to open those drawers is similar to the problem you resolved. Thanks!

    I used the same crap on mine years ago and I do not recommend using spray lithium after awhile it dries and the drawers were hard to open and close the colder it got and they were almost impossible to open. I would just use a blow gun and blow them out every once and awhile or use a dry film lubricant. Or replace the slides when they don't work anymore.

    I bought a smaller husky heavy duty box. I love it. Cheap and built extremely well! Definitely going to throw some white lithium on these dry slides. Was really surprised on the quality seeing how inexpensive it is. Compared to the quality you get these boxes are unmatched

    Great idea to use the acid brush. Gets pretty messy spraying white lithium or even using white lithium in the tube. Sometimes we miss the obvious. Thanks.

    Awesome video. My drawers slide so easily now. In fact the one bank I did opened all by themselves. All at once. So now they don't stay shut and it's dangerous to stand near the cabinet. Awesome advice. I guess it's true. Free advice is worth what you paid. So after I removed all the drawers, again, and cleaning all the grease off all the stops and the rear of the slide, and finding out the stops swell with anything that dissolves grease, I finally have drawers that stay closed (luckily the stops return to size when solvent evaporates). Daaamn that was a waste of time. And dangerous. Luckily found using silicone spray and the straw solved all my problems and drawer removal is unneeded (shove it into the holes on the side and into the fronts of the slides). Plus silicone isn't messy. BTW, who buys a spray can of lube to spray it into a container? That's just stupid. You don't know it's sold in tubes or tubs?

    It’s amazing that high end tool chests like this don’t include a few of those single-use packets of grease and instructions to apply it upon purchasing one. Why would they want this product to operate so poorly when the customer receives it?

    Thanks good video. I don't understand why they started making these tool boxes with detents that requires a strong effort to pull the drawer. All my old tool boxes don't have this feature. Another bad idea trying to improve on a mouse trap.

      @@StreetersGarage I see the point, but easily solved with “shims”, unless you’re rolling it, which I doubt many people do that not even service shops. I’ve had my large double stack tool box in the same spot for 26 years, not moved it yet. I use a small tool caddy on wheels it’s a home made cart if I need my tools next to me. Oh well, a choice would be nice. Thanks for the reply.

      I use super lube for nearly everything. I'd use the oil for this, not the grease. I imagine anything will end up being a dirty mess that you'll eventually need to clean and re-lube, I'm just worried about how hard it will be to clean. can't really get in to those bearings for a good cleaning

    • @markwysierski8903
      @markwysierski8903 2 роки тому +1

      Silicone. Use a spray. Do not remove drawers and use the straw, shoving it in spaces in the slides. Easier, faster, not messy.

    How is it doing now? Do you have any experience with Harbor Freight boxes?
    I'm in the market and both companies sell good products, but curious if one is better than another.

      I had their 5 drawer service cart and it was awesome. I outgrew it and bought the Husky.

      I have zero complaints with my Husky box and would buy another one without hesitation.

    • @dummkompf
      @dummkompf 4 роки тому

      @@StreetersGarage I followed the same process but I sprung for the heavy duty 52" husky box which was super expensive compared to a harbor freight, and I don't feel like the quality lives up to the price. 2 of my drawers have slight defects that I dont' see in any cheaper boxes from HF, and 2 of the others have sticky slides. I will try lubing them but I shouldn't have to do that on a brand new premium box, disappointing already

    • @railgap
      @railgap 3 роки тому

      I couldn't find a HF with any comparable boxes in stock, AND they wanted to charge my card in advance for the full amount then wait "six to eight weeks", AND the manager of the biggest store in town was surly and rude when I politely asked him for more information. I don't usually rub people the wrong way, and I work in retail, so I was really shocked by his attitude and I wound up writing a letter to HF PR people which will probably never be read, heh. That's why I went with the 52" Husky "Industrial", but then I was VERY disappointed with the delivery and condition of the set when it arrived. It had both delivery damage and factory fit-&-finish issues. Can't win, I guess. $1k doesn't buy much of anything any more. If you want something made well, hire a skilled metal-worker and have one made to order for $20k or whatever.

      That’s a little strong to say this was “horrible”. The whole video was done nicely showing disassembly, brush instead of tube sprayer.
      That said I would rally have liked to see brushing on the grease on those back rubber stoppers - that seems to be the bug issue for my Husky drawers. Takes two hands two open a drawer, sticks at the beginning and end.
