Hi Tim and Debbie, another fantastic video, what a beautiful looking place, really enjoyed it. Hope you both, have a wonderful New year, Happy New Year. 🎉
When I first found you in Feb/Mar you had just under 10k subs, I only found you as I was looking for content on Port Douglas + Cairns 😊 ‘Tim in the Swim’ nailed it for me, follower for life. 😊❤
I’ve missed so many episodes Deb + Tim, have a bit to binge on over the next couple of days ! Merry Christmas + happy holidays 🎄 Much ❤ from Auckland New Zealand 🇳🇿
Love watching your videos. As a fellow QLDr and in my 50s now, love your tips for my early retirement soon! Thanks guys. Look forward to seeing you guys hit 100k soon, then 1 million. 🎉
Just found your channel. Very professional and humorous videos including links to locations thank you. Looking at going to Vietnam 2026. Going to Penang in April 2025. Staying in George Town for $50aud per night. Our budget usually averages $40aud. Looked on Agoda at the Parkroyal-$322aud. I do the same as you, booking with free cancellation in case plans change so staying flexible. We are staying on a raft on the River Kwai for the 110th Anzac Day dawn service 2025 at Hellfire Pass. We are splurging on this at $83aud.
That’s awesome! You guys are doing some amazing trips! 😁👍You sound like you know how to travel 👏👏👏The Dawn service will be very moving on the River Kwai. Makes me feel emotional just to think about it! Enjoy all your adventures and so happy you like the channel 😁👍
omg so excited that you’re finally making content of penang, malaysia, absolutely love all of your content ❤️ i remembered your content were the one that convinced me to go to cambodia back then. enjoy your holiday 😊
Hi, welcome to M'sia. I'm in Subang Jaya Selangor area, so watching your vid tells me it's time to go Penang for a holiday soon..😊. Happy holidays! Happy New Year!
Amazing Malaysia friendly clean safe omg the food you showed us the amazing hotel and the cinnonmon restaurant buffet looked so delicious so many choices of food to choose in the hotel and market stalls love your video can't wait til next instalment ❤❤😊😊
Great to see you back in Asia! In the 80s I drove from Singapore to Penang but arrived there with a very nasty flu, then spent two nights at the E&O, two nights at the Golden Sands just up the beach from you and didn't get to see much at all, and couldn't eat. I'm glad you can get to see and eat what I missed, great video. By the way, Selamat Datang means something like "Welcome to (a place or event), you may have seen signs saying Selamat Datang Penang for example. It's not used as "You're welcome" as the young lady seemed to indicate. Probably a misunderstanding and she was welcoming you. Malaysia is probably my favourite place to visit, with a great mixture of old and new, wonderful scenery, good infrastructure while retaining historic areas, arguably the best food anywhere and genuinely friendly people, not just friendly because they want to sell something. Good value for money too.
That’s so interesting to hear about your experience 🥰Thanks for clarifying Selamat Datang. Totally agree with everything you said. It is a really amazing place. The people are so cool. It has everything. And the FOOD! We love it
I love to watch your hotel and food vlog in Penang. Next year I will go to Malaysia and eat yummy foods there. Have a great and safe journey and happy new year 2025 🍾🥂🎆
Glad to see you're off on your travels again, I love watching your videos as it provides inspiration when I'm planning holidays, particularly in S.E. Asia. I agree with you about esims, I was looking into them for an upcoming trip I have planned to Cambodia & Thailand, SOME of the prices are outrageous!! I'll just stick to buying a sim card when I arrive until esims are a reasonable price.
Awesome!😁👍 Yeah same. We keep looking at e-sims that are recommended to us and they are all very expensive. It's not even that hard to just buy one at the airport. For now anyway
@vintagefoodfarm Yes . I'm glad you choose ParkRoyal Penang. I use to work there before ..now I'm at HardRock hotel Penang.. just a few minutes walk up from ParkRoyal . enjoy your stay ya ❤️
Malaysia is on my travel list, hopefully in 2025. Love your travel videos, your style of travel is very similar to my own. Love a good local market, wandering the streets and a good local meal (and the occasional beach day). Just a thought, would you ever host a tour/trip?
Awesome! You will love it. So happy you like the channel😁👍The truth is I can't think of anything more terrifying than hosting a trip 😂😂😂Maybe one day 😊
@ I get it, it would be a lot. As someone who likes to travel and my friends are not keen, at times I find it tricky to feel at ease with solo travel. My last trip to Vietnam in may was solo (after 4 previous trips with a travel buddy), I loved it, but missed dinners with someone and to enjoy having a laugh at the crazy travel moments.
Welcome to Penang. Lala is clam. The sauce on the spoon is sweet shrimp paste for the Asam Laksa. I went to George town almost 3 months ago just to eat. Tried Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang, 888 Hokkien Mee (Prawn mee), CHONG Charcoal Seafood Char Kuey Teow (with duck egg) and Restoran Ramzan (rice with cabbage and rare duck curry). Delicious food. Will visit again for Hameed Pata Mee Sotong, Penang Famous Samosa, Roti Canai Gemas Road, Auntie Gaik Lean's Old School Eatery (Peranakan/Nyonya cuisine) and more.
When Malaysian say, Terima kasih (thank you), we typically respond with, "Sama-sama" which mean, "Same same" (ditto). Basically, reciprocating the person thanking you.
Hello.. the black sticky stuff in the spoon are prawn paste. It mellows down the sourness. Actually there’s another version of asam laksa with added santan(coconut milk), not all stall had them i guess.. Happy staying in penang.. ✌️
@slmickysl The asam laksa with santan should be Siam Laksa. Not found at many places. Maybe at the foot hill area of Kek Lok Si Temple there's one kopitiam selling it.
@slmickysl The kopitiam is not far from the climbs to those narrow, long steps(with many shops) uphill. The noodles stall has the choices of asam laksa & siam laksa.
G’day from QLD. In March we are going to Singapore/Sri Lanka/Thailand/Penang for 50 days. Looked at eSIMs but they are capped and would cost $180aud. Getting unlimited local Sim cards will cost $50aud for the whole trip. In Thailand at the airport a 30day sim costs $50aud. The same plan and provider at a 7-11 away from the airport is $15aud. Roaming through AldiMobile is 0.50c per text if we need a OTP from the bank.
Wow! that sounds like an amazing trip! Thank for the info on sims! Yes that's why i like roaming. Belong is $30 for a month which is more expensive than a local sim but we often need 2 factor so its worth it 😁👍Also if our cards get frozen the bank can text us easily 😊
Great down to earth channel guys. Wife and I are travelling to Vietnam in March April. I'm wondering how do you use Whats app with your existing account, if you are getting a physical Sim when you arrive. Wouldn't the number on the new sim be different.
WhatsApp stays as your original phone number because your original phone number is your WhatsApp identifying number. Whether you use WIFI or another physical sim (or e-sim) you WhatsApp will use your original number that you set it up with. It uses it as a WhatsApp number no a phone number. The number for your new sim will be different but your WhatsApp will stay at your original number. This is good because if you want to contact someone you met in Vietnam when you return home you can. Does this make sense?
@@vintagefoodfarm you can also extend the phrases.. Selamat + Pagi (Morning) = Good Morning Selamat + Petang (Evening) = Good Evening Selamat + Malam (night) = Good Night Selamat + Tinggal (leave) = Good Bye (usually said to the person leaving.. i/e (Bon Voyage))
