Thank you for playing at some pace. It is so boring watching other channels explaining and playing at 0.25x speed. Some of us can follow at normal speed :) Keep it up
Great playthrough, thanks. Small note: If you placed the last building in the middle grid of your capital city you'd have gained an extra resource for completing it, giving you an extra turn as well
@@OneStopCoopShopWell it must be quite distracting to narrate and explain as you strategise. Im waiting for my copy of Tapestry to arrive which I will mostly play solo and I found some of your reasoning very interesting, gave me ideas for new strategies. Cant wait to actually try them out!
I really like this game... even though I have yet to beat the Level 1 automa. Something hasn't clicked yet for me apparently, but i'm still enjoying trying to figure it out. There is so much replay value here!
Level 4 has become my sweet spot after a bunch of play. I have to have a good mix of luck and skilled play to beat it. Good luck on smacking level 1 eventually. It'll happen!
Ooh. Solo play. I believe I only played this game once (but loved the theme and idea so much I got both expansions, which I have yet to play), but the automa kicked my rump so hard that's the main reason I haven't played again. >_< I'll likely try again this fall or winter, when my family's off avoiding winter and I have extra solo gaming time.
It looks like you may have made a fairly big mistake around 41:40 when you reached Singularity on the Tech track. You did correctly move a cube back to the beginning of a track, but it doesn't appear that you took the more powerful bonus of that space which is the extra 4 resources (1 of each type.) Though perhaps I missed it?
At 8:00, you don't mention it, so I'm not sure if it's a decision or not, but you could have decided to not move onto the first space of the tech track after rolling the die. And the first space of the tech track is pretty good I'd say.
Yes, good call on a rule I never mentioned. Not sure if not moving would have been the right call. I certainly could have gotten a lot of points from 1 more tech card :)
@@Thagor95 Ah, you're right! Teaches me not to assume I don't need the player aids anymore :). I should have realized that was the science track symbol, not the green die icon. Thanks!
@@Thagor95 Yes, that one I realized after the fact (I'll mention it later in the playthrough), but too late to easily fix the error. I do wonder how much more I could've have done with those 2 resources... :)
Hello, if Automa's favourite track changes, does it's civ change too? I watched to the point where Automa changed from military to science whereupon you didn't change the civ, but another video I watched had a similar thing happen where the player did change the civ. The rules don't say anything about this so I would have assumed what you did is correct but I would like to know for sure. Cheers.
Strategically I think you made some mistakes in some situations where you prioritized points over resources. In this game it really stands that buildings >> resources > points basically up until a point where an extra resource cannot get you additional actions, i.e. deep into the final round. So for example, when you are considering landmark placements on the map, it is a mistake to worry about getting rows/columns for an extra point or 2, when prioritizing the extra resources will likely get you an extra action and provide much more points. The same can be said about the military dice. The points can seem attractive (especially when the automa is way in front) but in reality choosing the resource is way, way better even when considering the 7 point option.
Brandon Miller I think I agree with you for the early game, but I haven’t seen single resources being valuable late game, when you need 2-3 to do anything meaningful.
Haha I’m not a socialist xD. I played my first game on TTS the other day, and used socialism to get to some of the top tech spaces from the bottom, and then use the AI singularity to get some cheap stuff
Thanks for this. I've played two solo games so far, and this clarified a couple minor mistakes I made. Can't wait to play again!
Glad it helped!
Great playthrough, Mike. Thanks!
Wil Young glad you enjoyed it!
At 25:12 you roll the science die, however the tech just moves you up 1 on the science track

AndyHaggis you’re a man after my own heart. I would rather watch a fast playthrough and pause it when needed than watch something 2-3 hours long ;)

Evatar good point! More proof I’m not so great at this game ;)

Have fun playing again. I’ve heard the expansions are good but haven’t tried them
15:10 shouldn’t the first tapestry card be put on the first space after „Maker of fire“, which is space 2?
Maybe! It’s been close to 3 years since I played this…
@@OneStopCoopShop yeah, I’m so sorry, just noticed this. 😂
The automa runs smoothly. The two card combination to determine what they do adds a lot of variability without adding much time.
Yeah, it's a great system. I liked it here, in Euphoria, in Gaia Project, etc.

At 25:00, the tech cards doesn't make you roll the science die, it makes you move once on the science track without taking the benefit.
And I think you forgot your 2 bonus resources when playing the Capitalism tapestry card, since you took your income turn before the automa.

I can’t say for 100%, but like you said that isn’t in the rules, so I’d assume the other video had it wrong :)
@@OneStopCoopShop cheers. I have asked the game developer as well so if I get a response I'll post an update, until then I'll play it like you have.

this actually looks like a good system for solo play so could possibly invest when hits retail
Yeah, I actually think it plays best solo (though I'm biased towards solo and coop play).
You lost me at victory points!!
