  • In this Instagram LIVE with Laurie Christine King, we discuss how to assess your hormone health, understand periods, and proper diet. I recommend taking notes to keep track of all the brands she recommends for birth control, body care and books! Laurie lays down the facts in this interview!

The 1st five minutes of this video has given me so much hope that I dont have to suffer from life debilitating PMDD 3 weeks out of the month. Immediately stopped and purchased Period repair Manual on audible! Sisterly love, I so needed this...hugs & tears!

The term that I think she was looking for was a Naprotechnology Doctor ( short for Natural Procreative Technology), when she was referring to the Dr.'s who naturally treat people without hormonal contraceptives. She mentions NFP, which is the acronym for Natural Family Planning. These doctors and methods are wonderful for treating any hormonal abnormalities, PMS, infertility, etc. I know, because they helped my husband and I get pregnant after 6 years of infertility, by treating my PCOS and hypothyroidism.

Your comments on diets and how many calories a women should have are fascinating and I'd love it if you could recommend another video where either of you have gone into that more! I am pretty active and watch what I eat, but typically feel like if I have just a little too much (maybe 500 extra calories, say through a dessert or something) I can feel like crap or at least very bloated quite easily. Do you gauge calorie intake based off of the standard BMI calculators (and activity level), or do you have other suggestion? Love all the information in this video! So incredibly helpful to have the overview of hormones as it effects our general well being and all the other great tips you guys shared. Thank you so much!

Diet is soo difficult because it is soo specific. I always recommend people begin with intuitive eating. If it is something that makes you feel like crap with even a little bit, cut it out. Find those "treats" that you respond well to and that add something else good in nutrient wise.

I found this Live with Laurie very informational, so was disappointed when she mentioned at the end that she could not work with plant-based women.
