They’ve been running this gig for over 20 years and are still so courteous to fans and answering questions that they’ve probably been asked a million times before - a true testament to how impactful these films and this experience was for them.
I'm not sure they really get worn out about it, because as actors, they have all gone on to do different projects in TV, cinema, and theater ever since. They have had to get their heads into different roles and characters and settings, while also having families at home. They all split up from each other for a while, but the 20th anniversary of Fellowship in 2021 brought many of them back together and it has been like watching them relive memories for the first time.
We as fans can be focused on the universe, watching all of the extras over and over again, and feeling (constantly) immersed in that world, but again, as actors, they have had to get their headspace into very different worlds. For them, this probably feels like...there and back again.
Also they are being paid…
@@coppershark1973 If being paid drives your decision making, I feel sorry for you.
I think they know what a classic masterpiece they made and still nurture it to this day. I think they are the caretakers of the films.
Tolkiens world is undeniably life changing
I love the fact Billy and Dominic are literally just Merry and Pippin 😂
I always felt like they were best friends before the show, they were always meant to be best friends in life.
They gave us not only greatest movies. They gave us 20+ years of interviews, their friendship, their experience and bits of life. Extended version of LoTR movies are much more than 100 hours.
And WE gave them millions of dollars and worldwide fame :-)
@@Pieter-ns5nv fair deal.
@@Pieter-ns5nv You didn't give it to them. You exchanged it for the artistic experience that you were privileged enough to enjoy.
And I sit there and watch them all in a day easy ✋🏻💀🤣
@@Pieter-ns5nvgladly. These are some of the last few classic actors. The way the entertainment industry is going, they are the bright light in Mordor.
So glad to see Orlando in a LOTR panel.
Dude is a CHAD
@@George-um2vc Good for him.
Yeah for a whole 10 min lol
Me too 👀
Dude became one of the most successful actors for being new to acting in lord of the rings. Hes pretty funny outside of acting
Elijah hasn't changed a day, only grey hair...must still be having a spare ring in his pocketses!
Bro has the darn ORIGINAL RING - that’s why he never seems to age! 😎
He's only 44, the youngest of them all
Adrenochrome
He looks much older
still two filthy little hobbitses
Fantastic stuff. RIP Bernard Hill
Hail!
Hail the victorious dead!
Hail!
Hail!
I didn't know he passed 😢
To Sean's credit, I always thought that Sam was scared of giving the ring back to Frodo, not that he wanted it for himself. Even when my dad told me otherwise.
Yeah it came through that he wanted to protect Frodo. 💚
I think it ultimately made for a more powerful and interesting moment, because to me it's a bit of both.
Exactly too..my first thought was he was wanting to protect Frodo and therefore he was hesitant in giving back the ring....not once did i think Sam wanted it for himself...thats not who Sam is..
I thought exactly the same thing
It's lovely that his view came across the scene even being directed otherwise. Sam is such a hero. ❤
You can tell just how much Elijah cherishes these moments together with the crew! He doesn't want it to end!
He's such a nice dude, and you can tell it's genuine, lots of respect for him
They say never meet your childhood heroes. But it’s safe to say we can make an exception for the LOTR cast. They are all amazing human beings. So privileged to have lived in the era of the greatest movies ever made.
I had that situation when I found out that Mark Hamill was financially supporting the drone war in the Ukraine. On the other hand it's not surprising since the "fighting for freedom" myth also takes place in Star Wars..
Except sean astin THEN when he wrote his book
So agree. I think the lotr cast are the only 'celebrities' I'd actually love to meet.
@@boredasf-zy8bj What happened?
@@haliho8827 he expressed alot of many awful thing about the set and production look it up, but it was when he was young so it might get into his head during that time
Elijah is such a cardigan dude
he's worn this same exact outfit for COUNTLESS panels. just look in the thumbnails, it's hilarious XD
A selvedge guy as well
Actors like Orlando knowing their book counterparts and being able to vouch in place of the character to the director and writers is wild. Wish that was more common.
Henry Cavill is similar, too bad he isn't listened to
@@attackfoxCavill just can’t catch a break, let’s hope Warhammer is that break!
Tremendo
@@George-um2vc Cavil told them straight up hes not even gonna film or do anything if they dont follow the lore to a T he said he didn't want another witcher situation, so hopefully they listen.
@@Killercoldice22 as do I chief, as do I
I met Sean Astin after Fellowship came out. We just chatted for about a half hour. One of the nicest people I ever met.
I met Gandalf after he fell on Moria
That is so cool!!😎
they were all brilliant actors.. but Sean Astin just farking nailed it...
I loved Sean)s mother, Gd rest her soul. She would ABSOLUTELY be begging him to take better care of himself.❤
he's turning into Sam 😊
I was 9 when fellowship came out and I remember it was in the cinemas at the same time as the first Harry Potter film.
I loved HP so much that my Dad took me to see it a second time but when we were buying the tickets he suggested we watch this new Lord of the rings film. I thought it looked rubbish so we went in for Harry Potter round 2, blissfully unaware of what I was missing out on.
A couple of weeks later my friend and his Dad were going to see LOTR and they invited me along. I remember going and expecting to be bored. Turns out that cinematic experience was to become one of the highlights of my life that I still vividly remember over 20 years later. No other film has blown me away the way fellowship did. What a film.
i was maybe between 7-8 and i remember vividly kids on my school bus trying to convince me elijah and daniel were the same person and no one believing me when i said no hahah (i was also a big hp fan, saw the 2nd movie twice in theatres i think around that time lol ur comment brought back memories)
Your dad sounds cool
I got to meet Sean And Billy at a Fantasy Con once and I really could not believe how nice they were....and I will always remember what Billy said to me. I know I am literally one fan in millions- I do not know how they made me feel special and human and not just a number. I am very grateful for that. It was awesome.
Elijah Wood has the best giggle. ♥
Such a cutie

Smiling all the way through this with a few tears. I love those guys so much. They’re so funny and endearing. RIP Christopher Lee and Bernard Hill as well. ❤️
and RIP Ian Holm
Sean has to be most normal celebrity of all time. Like, he’s always like that neighbor who did something awesome and finds himself on talk shows out of nowhere. Just wholesome with no pretentious gleam 😂🤘
The best possible Sam.
Met all of them over that weekend, really nice and friendly guys!! Made a childhood dream of mine come true having photos taken with all of them
That's so cool!
How amazing!!!
Sam Gamgee, and Neville Longbottom, are my favorite characters of all time. Their friendship and bravery will never get old to me.
Do you read the books?
I love that they’re all so tight still! ❤️ And you can totally see Elijah & Sean are bonded just like Frodo & Sam and Dom & Billy are bonded just like Merry & Pippin!
Dom and Billy were doing a podcast together
13:45 Out of everyone tempted by the ring, Sam's trial was the only one where his emotions were drawn to concern for the ring's effect on Frodo. Sam does not lust after the power of the ring at all, but rather he wanted to keep carrying it to protect his friend. Really touching moment.
Always great to see these wonderful people.
I love all of them so much.
Truly
Love that Legolas is here too. Such a great cast. Man I love LOTR.
Love seeing them all together, I was 11 or 12 when I saw the Fellowship of the Ring for the first time, I fell in love with everything about it. I had all the posters on my walls, cardboard cutouts of the hobbits, and dressed up as Sam at the midnight showing of ROTK.
Lord of the Rings is woven into my life and I'm so grateful I got to experience it when it premiered, what a time to be alive!
LOTR is like coming back home again, thanks for being a part of our hearts, much love to you all!
It was amazing meeting them and getting autographs at the fan expo! FRODO HELD MY BABY!!!! ❤💚
There is no cast in the world that I love more than the 4 Hobbits of Lord of the Rings. I truly hope they continue these interviews for at least 20 more years. 😁
Why is Orlando Bloom turning into Antonio Banderas?
ROFL
Hair dye.
And Sean Austin into George RR Martin.
@@jahsma5702😂
“I’m feeling very iconic at the moment.” LOL I love Sean.
14:22 That's so awesome, because it really does feel like Sam didn't want to give it to Frodo because he didn't want it to hurt him
Finished Return of the King for the umpteenth time last night and cried like a baby. These guys will be in my life forever. When Frodo turns before getting on the boat...the look on his face is so beautiful and angelic, and thank goodness he left his friends with that amazing smile.
I hope they never stop doing these fan events, answering questions that they've answered 100 times before yet telling it like it's the first time we're hearing it. The dedication they show to their fans make them so endering and how they are all still close today as they ever were. True friendships have been forged. RIP Bernard, "I go to my fathers. And in who's mighty company I shall not now be ashamed". ❤👑
Orlando Bloom sure does have that dashing distinguished British air about him. He could totally play some iteration of James Bond.
But he speaks with a half american accent haha
Oh man, James Bond but by Peter Jackson! I would love it so much! Get away from the gross, rapey James, and have much more character and mystery. And WETA making gadgets 😍 I wish....
“ on yer bike” is the British equivalent of “ f@#k off”
We are so blessed to have this guyz
thanks for this. Im a 30 year old man now, I was 8.5 when the fellowship of the ring came out. I've watched the movies dozens upon dozens of times over the years, and the way i feel about them is just like everyone else. they are truly special and mean so much, its hard to really put into words how impactful they were growing up.
Laaaambas bread! ❤😂😂 but seriously, one of my favorite things about this series is hearing Billy Boyd's solo songs, especially "the last goodbye". His voice was absolutely stunning.
All I know is, for as long as “merry” and “pippin” can giggle at a #2 joke, the world will be fine.
you'd love their podcast the friendship onion. It's amazing
@@tbrsie They haven't done any new episodes for a while. Last episode was over a year ago. Wonder why that is?
Look at the way they’re all subtly leaning into one another. The little touches and smiles. Seeing that the friendship built in The Fellowship is still true makes this old nerd feel all warm and fuzzy.
So incredible! All these years later and its like the first film was released last month or its going to be released this summer! That's a direct effect of Tolkien himself. It never gets old or boring. Grateful to be around to experience it all!
I can't help but tear up seeing how close they've all stayed over the years.
you know a work of art touched deep into the human soul when 20 years after a trilogy- theres still so much buzz and love around it. not to mention the books themselves who where published 70 years ago. these guys do these fan talks every several months . btw- sean austin became a full time UNCLE vibe
seing this, wow super emotional ! Also, Elijah's laugh. I love it. So much joy !!!!
I love how all actors from every iconic movie like LOTRs, Star Wars and Harry Potter still love to talk about their experiences making these amazing movies.
Agree. Only outliers I can think of are Harrison Ford and Adam Driver
@@IamKelt So the outliers are the ones who found success outside of their iconic roles? Hmm
@@IamKelt Disney SW doesn't count as SW... Oscar isaac was like : "yea id work on another SW movie... if i need another house." lol, John Boygea : "you're not gonna disney + me bro"
Rest in Power Theoden King!
The beauty and wonder of the LOTR trilogy is that these guys and every actor and actress "owned and became the character." They were real and became the history of a place and time. Thank you for such wonderful movies.🎉❤🎉
You honestly couldnt ask for a better group of guys.. Such genuine down to Middle Earth people..
I need more! I wish it didnt end so quick, i could watch these guys talk all day😭
I just love how the subtitles make "legal ass" out of Legolas😂😂❤
Great they got together and in Liverpool of all places. I visited in 2022 for the first time and it's an amazing town if you're a Beatles fan which I am
I feel so privileged watching this ....massive fan of the movies ...this was the pinnacle of their careers in my opinion.
I love how Sean gets progressively more lovable through the interview. Amazing Christopher Lee stories
Dominic Monaghan's voice changed dramatically. He now sounds like he had too much Longbottom Leaf😂
He does😂
It changes so much when he is talking. I think he's trying to make it sound deeper but it's naturally high pitched. He wants to sound more manly
"Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!"
Suddenly the king cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away.
Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it.
After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them.
Eomer rode there, the white horsetail on his helm floating in his speed, and the front of the first eored roared like a breaker foaming to the shore, but Theoden could not be overtaken.
Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as "Orome" the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young.
RIP Bernard Hill.
It's nice to see MOST of the Fellowship together again. :)
These guys have a special brotherly bond.
Seeing these guys up here brings me back to the late 90s at my Grandma’s house, trying to download the LOTR trailer (which literally took HOURS, and then had an error haha)
Still unbelievable to think Peter Jackson managed to pull this off.
Sean Astin is a legend first as Mikey - Goonies- Sam - Lord of the Rings and Bob in stranger things!! ❤
I clicked on this thinking, ok yet another LOTR panel I've heard it all before. And I pretty much have, but these guys are just so GD charming I love hearing them tell their stories!!!
Great to see this cast still talking about the film. Also great that we still have middle earth movies being made today. I liked the hobbit too. I could finally see people that looked like me in middle earth. That’s a special feeling. ❤
These guys are awesome 😎 and I truly enjoy watching and listening to them ❤
'Time' is so damned!...
To see people 'Age', is heart rending, but knowing they've lived such long lives, and through their hard work, given the rest of the world such amazing experiences?

Damn straight I cried like a baby first time I saw that.
That is why I loved Sam and named my sheltie puppie Samwize; as I had a mountain to climb , duties to perform and needed a sidekick for support.
Somewhere along the way, Orlando Bloom became Luke Evans' double.
best cast ever. im over here crying from laughter.
Yay 😃 I hope they come back for future events 😁🤞🤞
It worked so well because they are so complimentary to each other. God bless them all
Christopher Lee throwing a pen into a tree. Iconic
I can say that this movie was one of my childhood all time favorite 🎉
These movies were so special and beautiful in everyway! I was obsessed like im sure everyone was!!! I saw all 3 in theaters when they cam out! I had the movie posters on my wall, I had the soundtracks. I have shared these films with my kids!! They will always be the best trilogy!!
This answer and question session is amazing and its great to see all of them together after all these years. These guys are legends!!
cant help feeling they were cast correctly. Elijah is very cerebral, Dom and Billy piss about together a lot, Sean seems very earnest!
I love these four guys so much. And it makes me so happy that their friendship remains as strong as ever. How beautiful was that quote from Billy that it was an unconditional friendship. So good to see!
incredible to have such meaningful panel over 20 years after the movies when there prolly hasnt been as engaging a panel for a movie since
Thank you for sharing this.
Best films ever.
They all could be playing Bilbo in a few years xD
Actually, Wouldn't it be nice to have a short movie with them playing their 4 old retired Hobbits?
frodo left for valinor tho
Such a great panel guys! Thank you!
I would like to see Treebeard at one of these conferences, talking about his film experiences. Maybe one day they will invite him.
Archetype of a Treebeard?
Looks like a movie could develop in that direction with a quite a cool story.
Hopefully he shows up at the same time as Gimli
Legendary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can die at peace
I was at the Rotk premiere parade!! Sean Astin looked right at me and my baby!!! What a nice guy!!
It was an amazing day- beautiful weather
And i was at the first Hobbit premiere and Elijah signed my book.

I had the honour to meet Billy Boyd at a comic con some years ago and it’ll always be a great memory as a foreign student when he asked if my name was spelled with an A and in a Scottish accent A sounds very much like an E 😂😂 now I know better but damn it’s a great memory
Funny you should say that, just now I remembered when I met him at a con and got his autograph, he never even asked me about the spelling of my name, but it´s a purely German name. How did he know without asking? That´s funny.
I love Billy's accent, and he is so nice
My heart can barely handle the joy this gives me. Legends, every one of them.
Hello all and thank you! Specifically to Dom and Billy, can you please find time to bring back the podcast??
Fantastic, wish I had been there. I would love so dearly to meet the Hobbits.
Just saw the four hobbits last night in Ottawa - it was an awesome time! They always bring such joy and energy to the fans 😊 awesome to see Orlando with them too!
I love them all. I love the anecdotes about Christopher Lee too. That man was a real life super human. I dived into some surface level history about him awhile ago and by the end i was like: this man is a demi god and you cannot convince me otherwise.
Blimey. Orlando went from looking like an ageless elf to a retired boxer.
I miss the Friendship Onion, my favorite podcast of all time. #Pippin #Merry
Best movies ever made.
To this day I thought that Sam didn't want to give Frodo the ring because he knew the effect it had on him. Oh my god this is destroying illusions, Peter and Fran really messed with their characters in the third movie especially 😅
I thought the same as you.
It’s a complex mix of that reasoning plus the Ring’s temptations - the Ring is using Sam’s natural fear for Frodo’s wellbeing to make him want to keep it and spare Frodo. Sam is aware of the Ring’s effect on Frodo but the Ring is taking advantage of that.
Sean is an amazing actor.

I think Bernard Hill's performance is the best in the 3 films.
@@TheTricktracktruck Everyone was great and had an amazing chemistry. But I do agree that his performance was truly on point. He portrayed what a King of the regular folks would be like at perfection.

what a brilliant cast. one of the best movies (trilogys) for me of all time. EPIC
I would've asked a question to Elijah: "Do you wear wigs?"
They will always have a special place in my heart. I was so sad after all the LOTR and Hobbit movies were done because I knew, that was the last time I'd see Middle Earth on the big screen. No-one will be able to replace these actors.
Absolutely lovely men
18:05 that’s a real friendship starter. And they laugh from them at the end of the anecdote… 😊
You have the cast of Lord of the Rings, can ask them about anything, and the last question you ask them is a washed up "will you wear wigs". You can see Elijah being tired of hearing that.
Thankfully the cast made the answer interesting.
I think one of the things that always comes through with the OG LOTR cast is that though it was tough, filming the films was a huge pleasure and the cast really share a deep bond that can really be seen whereever they are together. And really, they rproduced a masterpiece of a trilogy. It's a huge contrast to whatever is on Amazon masquerading as the Lord of the Rings.
Gotta be the coolest group of actors ever.
This movie is so good. They call it, "Rings", for short. These interviews will never stop.😂😂
