The only thing I’d do differently is park it in my yard instead of yours!!!!
A stainless prop. I gained 5 miles an hour in my Jon boat when I changed the pitch and diameter. And my hole shot was faster. More midrange power to.
22mph was my 13' Sport / 35 hp Rude 2 stroke , Alum.prop. & needed 6 gals for a 1/2 day of hard running to several spots . Change nothing, its all well thought out as it is. 👍
Another great video Justin. I have a 40 hp Mercury on my 13" whaler, I always use REC 90 gas ( no ethanol) gas for the boat. Ethanol will break down the gas line clogging the carb. Keep those video rollin. 👍
You are the master of the Gheenoe. A stealth boat that can make things happen. I am amazed that you can get from bow to stern in 2.39 seconds, over-under-around gear. A specialized angling vessel.
I'm 6'3 and about 200lbs and I think this boat is incredibly stable, love mine!

I have the same gheenoe. I fish creeks and never need an outboard. I use my transom mount trolling motor to put around the creeks. I’m 6’4 250lbs. It’s stable for me but I got good sea legs. I have fallen off before when standing on the seat and my buddy shook the boat. Definitely gets a bit sketchy the more gear you bring.
Running that gas out every trip is one of the best things you can do. Great advice!

Justin with the backplate I’d maybe try out a prop that’s one pitch up and go to stainless for some better performance
I just picked one of these boats up and have an old 9.9 evinrude I am going to try out so looking around. That jack plate at 11:40, cool, that's a great idea, but it's half of what I paid for my whole setup, guess I'll see how she runs as is first.

Great info. I'm your same height but a little heavier with bad balance since I broke my ankle. I've been wondering for a while if I would have sufficient balance on a high sider or if I would need to get a classic. What's your opinion? I've been in a classic and had no issues
I'm looking at these and the solo skiff, but more so leaning towards the gheenoe. How well does it tow behind the frontier?
Which trim pin do you use on your motor? I've got a 8hp Yamaha on my HS but kicks a little rooster tail at WOT. Curious if I should adjust my trim pin settings.
I use a Grumman 19’ with a lift and 9.9 HP Merc with Rock Hopper prop guard for moose hunting in Alaska.
What happened with the osprey reel? Any thoughts on that setup?
Love your videos - keep up the good work. Trolling motor question - does the tiller motor you have on your Gheenoe do everything you need/want or - given the choice - would you rather have one with powerdrive and/or iPilot? (recognizing the significant $ and weight increases those add) Also - what's the shaft length on your motor? Looking to add a TM to my LT25.
The tiller is best for this boat I believe. You can make movements quick without having to fumble with a remote.
I've owned the highsider and then a classic. The classic is well worth the extra money.

What size and model number is your Jackplate? When you go to the website the one that is for those motors is black in color?
Have you had any issues with the tail of the Gheenoe not supported by the trailer bunks ?

Did you have to get them to build the ruler custom because of the length?
You could likely get > 40" with a ruler going diagonal across the deck.

You’ve inspired me to redo my custom LT25 Gheenoe, issue is I really want to upgrade the motor (1998 25HP Suzuki) for a brand new motor and everything is on back order for 6+ months possibly a year before I can get the motor I want.. Looks like I’m fixing my motor lol
If you have the DT25 (3cylinder) engine, keep it. Those things make stupid power.

Do you have a boat bag/ tackle bag you recommend? I just got a 15'4 highsider about a month ago, and my biggest issue is keeping everything organized.
No not really. I typically carry very little tackle. One box of lures and one small box with all my circle hooks and j hooks.

Thanks for the info. I’m new to the channel, but I’ve had a 15 foot Gheenoe (2 actually) since I was a kid. I thought I had thought of everything. You took it to another level. Jack plate, stake and the Castaway flooring are must have’s. And I’m happy you showed how the Yeti stays secured.
I don’t know why, since I fish mostly by myself, I have more crap to trip and fall over than you have fishing with 2 people. I don’t even fish with live bait, and I don’t have a push-pole.

How much is the highsider brand new?
I gotta 6 gallon gas tank and the cooler in the back weights me down to much so gotta put it up front
I have a feeling that’s why he has the jack plate. I have the same issue with mine.
The only thing I'd change is I'd hook it up to the back of my truck instead of yours

15’4” and I think it’s maybe 40” wide at the widest point.

Hey man. Do you feel that you loose some stability in your Gheenoe with the cooler on it vs the cooler off?
I’ve never fished without the cooler so I’m not sure.
@@justin_menendez got ya. I have a 15’4 highsider set up very similarly to yours, I just put the yeti 35 on and fished it today with it for the first time and it seemed more unstable where it’s normally stable. But I had a pretty gnarly headache today and my balance could have been off a bit today.
How much did it cost to build the gheenoe how you have it now?
I’d value my Gheenoe around $4000-$5000. I’ve had companies help me out with things so I haven’t spent that much.
What is inside the stake holder?
Pool noodle to prevent the stake from rubbing.

I’ve had a 15.4 and classic, the classic is way more stable and better suited for the fishing you do, 15.4 is only better if you’re paddling, dragging, or very limited budget.
