Hello Alvin I recall a video or two from Nick on the woogely column shifter syndrome. Your shifter seems fairly tight. My 64 shifter handle has not had the Nick treatment yet. I will get to it next winter.
Yes, Nick did a great video on the linkage repair for these cars, lucky enough this car was still in good shape, I did replace the shift tube bushing, and that was all it needs for now.
Hey Alvin, Do you know how to adjust 1961 Cadillac shift linkage? I have two that need attention. This is something that most Thunderbirds need since they loose their adjustment easily when parts start to wear out. I noticed that your temp gauge needle was over to the P in the word temp. Is it running hot? My new 64 Mustang had exhaust leaks on both sides. The new exhaust system was put in wrong and I think the pipe size is too large. The pipe is sitting against the exhaust manifold to header pipe nuts and they were all loose anyway. Mickey mouse work. Anyway, thanks for the video.
Hey Nick, sorry I do not know the adjustment procedure for the Caddy's. The Thunderbird does run a little hot at idle, and I had been idling it in the garage before I recorded that video, and it was around 30c that day. Knowing it bored to 40 over, it may need a fan shroud like the AC cars. Darn exhaust pipes, a pain in the butt, they never seem to be the same after the original has been removed...well, without a lot of work anyway.
Hi George, It is an easy adjustment, but before I read the manual, I figured all I had to do was adjust it in park, but that didn't allow a smooth action...so when in doubt, read the instructions. Lol Yes, the 65 Thunderbirds did come with the Cruise o Matic from the factory.

Hello Alvin. That looked like an "easy" adjustment for a change. Your car had a Cruise-O-Matic from the factory? Just curious.
