She does not fit the stereotype for women who like nice things. And for that, I’m grateful. 😍❤️💯
I so agree. She is so honest, not at all snobby.
She started from the bottom. See that vid its great
I used to tell some of my friends that you don’t really have to go head to toe designer. And this video is exactly what I meant. Even just 1 designer classic handbag can really make an outfit a statement.
I totally agree!xx
Yup! I wear a lot of affordable clothes but it’s all about quality and craftsmanship. In my 20s I splurged on Burberry trench coats, Max Mara wool coats, YSL Chanel Prada purses, etc. Guess what? I gained weight and could no longer fit into my designer clothes. And I got sick of 2 of my purses and I totally thought I was making smart choices (aka nothing too trendy but not necessarily a classic). The resale value wasn’t great for these items. Now I opt for cashmere from Uniqlo, Zara, H&M (when they have it online), J.crew, and Cos. And get my shoes from the designer section at Nordstrom Rack or The RealReal (if you don’t mind used shoes). And I focus on less expensive bags like Furla, Cuyana, APC, etc. I still have several designer items: Gucci wool scarf, LV silk scarf, Chanel purse (my 1st luxury item, I’ll never sell it), Ferragamo pumps, Cartier bracelet, etc. It’s nice to have a few luxury pieces, but my wallet appreciates me spending less but still getting nice things. And lately I’m trying to support smaller brands and indie designers. Edit to add: I never pay full price if I don’t have to. Cashmere sweaters are basically half off after the holidays. And some luxury brands appear on discount like Saks Off 5th, etc. I mean, Sophie is always talking about online discounts. :) And if you don’t mind vintage or secondhand, it’s definitely cheaper.
@@SL-lz9jr totally agree with you. Merino Wool sweaters and Cashmere yes they’re on sale like right now. I bought my husband some from Zara and GAP Merino Wool $17 and Cashmere $19. Coach handbags I swear on their quality even if you buy them from the outlet store. You can score a 100% leather handbag or wallet 70% off plus extra 15% off.
If I ever buy a luxury piece of garment that would be a balmain blazer. it's something that I can wear a lot!
I really like designer, good quality things with NO logos, so I'm really into Chloé - great stuff, good quality, fantastic design
I feel the same way, love designer, but not really into huge logos plaster on the products, I would rather have something of outstanding quality and not "show". I think it looks more classic and upper class to keep the labels on the inside and let the product speaks for itself in looks, wearability, and durability.
Yes, Chloe bags, super recognisable but no logos Xx
I love Chloe right now I just got a Tess in dark brown leather and I’m looking for a gray one because it’s so versatile
@@breanna1720 sounds delicious 😋
I love Chloe but I personally find that the leather on their bags wear pretty horribly, also not always super functional for every occasion since a lot of their bags are small circular shapes
She is one really kindest lady ever ! She is the UA-cam English , Royals , kind like lady Diane ! True lady and loving person .
What I am seeing is that most people do not have their own style. They follow trends instead of figuring out their personal style and building a wardrobe around that.
I couldn’t agree more with you
I'm glad someone notices the difference. I'm in fashion and that is the topic I explain to people the most. Helping them find their style is one of the first things.
When I was going out in the world everyday my personal style would change from day to day depending on where I was going and my mood. But I was not necessarily following trends
@@KarinaSwan yup 👍🏼
@@catnip4587 yes better to go with what you like
This is exactly my 2021 goal! Mindfulness, smart spending, and fit and healthy.
It’s super refreshing seeing someone talk about a £6K chanel coat or a Balmain blazer and then be gushing over a handmade gift from a subscriber. I think it just really shows what a sweet, kind and down to earth person you are. Keep making amazing videos and I hope you have a wonderful 2021 💕
If you ever come across a brand of shoes called "Nero Giardini" you should definitely give them a try. Their prices are 150-300 €, it's always Italian leather and classic wearable designs. Your feet will thank you and will not want to buy any other brand after you've tried them. I don't know what kind of Italian magic is in those shoes but they are sturdy, comfortable and extremely beautiful and elegant.
Comfort and craftsmanship is everything! Thank you for the tip.
I can't imagine just having one designer bag. lol. Too tempting and so many beautiful bags. Plus, I can always resell if I get tired of a handbag.
But buy quality and craftsmanship as opposed to hype?
A few years back I was living in London and at that time I didn’t have much of stuff. But I decided to pick up a ballerina shoes from Chanel. Absolutely worth investing in. Since then I just keep buying them. They are so practical and classy. 💯 recommend
Hi Sophie, maybe made it first again!!!! Hope you, David and the buns are all ok during this latest lockdown. So pleased you liked your gift. Stay safe. Hugs xxxx
I love a good belt!! I'd recommend FERRAGAMO BELTS! They're eye catching but not as trendy as Gucci... always love your videos!!
I agree! And you can get a double-sided one, win-win!
I agree as well!
Right? But I truly wish that it’s not going to be the next Gucci-trend where everyone is running around with a fake version, making you look like you’ve a fake one too
At my age yes yes yes to long lasting timeless pieces !! Quality is what I am looking for. No more need to impress the ‘Joneses’ ... money is definitely an object for me now ... so I have to make careful choices...
I’m changing my entire closet, this video came at the right time. 😄
I'm having a good clear-out too right now! Seems like an opportune time to do it! Hugs xx
I love watching these videos because I feel a lot of UA-camrs and Instagramers make you feel pressured to buy all this stuff to keep up with trends. Your videos give a more realistic view to luxury or great advice for buying quality items.
I'm of age and tailoring my outfits now for career and life. This came at a perfect time.
It is so refreshing to see a women that isn’t “filtered/botox-ed” up but is into luxury 😍 You inspire me Sophie! Kisses from Miami ❤️
I was literally just thinking how lovely her Botox and filler looks in this video…
I never knew you had bunnies! I have 2 house bunnies and they are amazing!! You are so down to earth and genuine, it’s a breath of fresh air on UA-cam nowadays. So glad I found your channel!
My weak spot is Marni and it’s always been. Saved up and ended up buying their Trunk bag a little while ago. I was afraid I’d regret spending that amount if money but because it has been a goal and dream of mine for so many years, I still smile every day when I wear it!
I want to suggest LV reversible belt, I bought it for 400 eur last year. From one side it is black and from other side it is brown with LV logos. You get 2 belts for one price:)
Too bad there are no such reversible bags 😅
@@Hdhbdjxbdbdbc Yes...there is:) I think YSL have one (KATE MEDIUM REVERSIBLE IN SUEDE AND SMOOTH LEATHER) ! :)
@@missligalife177 oh my! Your comments are treasures!) thanks 🙏🏻
@@Hdhbdjxbdbdbc Thank you...My pleasure! :)
Hi, This might help you. For everyday wear, what I did many years ago, was try things on in my wardrobe and if I felt super comfortable in the style or the color I put those clothes aside and tried to buy things from then on that ai felt super comfortable in. I don’t mean comfortable as in lounge wear. I mean that I didn’t feel any tension with. Then I looked at things, good things. 5hat I avoided wearing and I tried to decide what it was that I didn’t like. When I realized I didn’t like ornate things I stopped buying them. Lastly was my attention to color. I realized I do t like much color, I love black, beige, cream, white.......pale pastels in summer
Given that we’re in lockdown and likely to remain at home for a long time I’ve put designer purchases on the back burner but this is definitely great advise
@maria daza I totally understand, I’ve been using my longchamp for the same reason. It’s super easy to just wipe off and sanitize💜
As someone with enormous feet, it's not even "looking cheap" that I'm afraid of with my shoes--it's more, is there even my size?! Will the plastic soles not just roll off after 2 years? Can I walk from 10am - 9pm in these? I have some YSL heels and Jimmy Choos that are 12 years old, and I haven't even resoled them! And they've carried me across gravel, wet concrete, and away from bad relationships looking fly.
Feeling happy for you because you own something that truly last, how often would that happen?! Also, how do you take care of those heels?
Lol “from bad relationships “
@@AndariReksi with the right brands it can happen often...
@@AndariReksi I clean them after I use them (for one); make sure they don't get drenched (in the rain, in puddles) and not stored in humidity. There's also (depending on shoe type) protectant spray.
Hahaha...I am just imagining the “walking away from bad relationships part” in stylish designer heels! 🙌🏽🙌🏽😀
The mail was so special and loving ,the rabbit in the picture frames oh my goodness , beautiful 🐰🐰
I love how realistic and honest you are if I'm going to be spending this amount of money I want to know what is the best value for money. Also always here for longevity over trneds I buy things to make me happy not fit in!
This video comes at a perfect time for me. I’ve been seriously considering culling my wardrobe down to key pieces that reflect my true style, but, also will reflect a timeless style, focuses on natural fibers, fits my body type well, and is easily manageable. I just have too much of a hodgepodge now. Your video offers great suggestions. Always love your vids, TFS!
Ahh me too! I have clothes that I started clearing-out over Christmas; sort of "fast fashion" items that look a bit worn having been washed and used so much. Once I removed them from my wardrobe it was great to see what I really have to work with. Getting more wear out of my items now. Thank you so much for watching my friend, hugs!xx
I totally agree me too
The goal should be look elegant, classy and well put together. Looking expensive shouldn’t be the goal. If you can afford nice stuff is great!! But if you cant choose wisely your clothes and shoes.
Hi, I agree I have expensive designer items that I pair with non designer items. As long as the quality is good I don't mind if there is a designer label stuck on the clothing.
I just adore how genuine and sincere you are during mail time!!
Thank you for talking about luxury capsule collections! Being mindful of my spending and how much stuff I accumulate, I’ve always taken a capsule approach to luxury goods and think it’s probably the most reasonable way for most people who love luxury to curate a modest and timeless collection :)
Sophie you've inspired my love for intelligent, well thought out fashion. For a couple of years now I've adopted the work wardrobe strategy of buying 5 tops (Lily Dilk blouses and cotton button up shirts) and 5 pairs of quality high street trousers (Reiss) that I wear for work during the week that I'll mix and match, plus a mid range 100% leather work bag. Men tend to wear the same or similar coloured suits with different shirts and I thought I'd try the same. Such a time and money saver! This has allowed me spend money on luxuries like holidays, classic handbags, 18 carat gold heirloom jewellery pieces and staple designer shoes. Also the odd designer piece of clothing on the outnet like a 70% off Stella McCartney wool coat.
Fantastic video as usual. Great tips for the capsule wardrobe!
Love watching you open mail, seeing your joy at the heartfelt and thoughtful gifts is so sweet and heartwarming.
Happy New Year Sophie. I'm stunned that your blazer is a dupe - looks so tailored and like it's made for you! Also adore the beige Chanel trendy 😍
A good tailor is a great help in saving money by buying classic non designer clothing (especially jackets and coats) and having it altered to fit better. As well as quality fabric, in fact, I think, even more than that, many designer jackets - Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham are good eggs - are that little bit more tailors in sleeves and waists, than high street.
Hi Sophie, I love your new attitude. I adore the fact that you are mixing pre-loved with new and you are so much more relaxed about the whole luxury thing. Keep going!!
Good shoes are EVERYTHING. It’s why I search out vintage designer shoes that last years and can be repaired.
Timely topic! Since we are all stuck in lockdown, this is a great opportunity to clear out and edit our closets. Thank you for this!
This is such a great idea Sophie for young ladies starting off in their careers and getting better quality stuff to build their wardrobe around. ❤️
and gents
@ 🤣❤️
Yes!! What a fantastic video!! Right now my financial priorities mean luxury purchases are on the back burner, but your advice is GREAT for making more mindful purchases, regardless of one’s budget. Also, your mail time is the best!! ❤️
The only designer items I can justify buying for myself (and saving for!) are bags. The rest I can easily find good quality of on the high street l and I love that. Love finding new items from small brands
You are so so sweet and gracious. I love your subscribers; they are just as kind as you are.
You really truly seem so kind. Thank you for sharing your fashion perspective and your joy✨
Bonjour Sophie, I really appreciate this content, it’s come at the best time as I’m looking at my wardrobe (always do a big cleanup in Jan) and contemplating what I need this year. I’ve always been a classic but somehow over the last years I’ve wandered and spent far to much on fast fashion... that’s the thing with this style... your happy in the moment but then tire of it and move on to the next best thing (well it is for me) I’m going back to what I really like. Thank you so much Sophie, you’ve inspired me today xoxo
I think she is the most honest review when it comes to a luxury item? she speaks in her mind. even for herself, 4k GBP is expensive for a handbag
Omg I love the boxed frame piece Jill’s daughter made! It is so freaking adorable! It made me smile! Too cute!
I love the 30 Montaigne Dior belt you got for Christmas. I have one as well and it just works so well with most outfits!
Thank you, I will tell Rebecca. xx
@@jillmartin8255 she should consider making more of these and selling online!
Oh my gosh I can watch your mailtimes forever, there is something so relaxing about them and I find myself commenting out loud how cute all the gifts are lol!
I love this particular episode so much. Just this week I started my 2021 plan for a luxury capsule. Brilliant timing! Thank you so much for taking the time to post on UA-cam, I’ve learned so much from you.
Being an influencer doesn’t mean opening boxes and boxes of stuff or advertising every cream on the market as the best cream they have ever used. Sophie is truly what an influencer should be. I don’t comment much but watch for all the tips and tricks because Sophie is not trying to sell us anything. This is how it should be done. Well done Sophie, you are a star in my eyes. ❤️
Oh wow, this is the nicest feedback 🙏🏽 and actually, all feedback (positive and critical) is great as I find making the videos so fun, but I want them to be something you all enjoy too ☺️
Very much appreciate you and all of my other viewers being here, such a nice community! Hugs to you xx😘😘
I loved this video because this type of concious closet is what some of us are trying to achieve, fashion but concious and not a lot.
This is so refreshing to hear from someone who has the most stunning collection. I think a lot of people see the titles of your thumbnails and incorrectly and think you just buy whatever you want with no thought whatsoever and have you down as snobby perhaps but you’re not at all! You’re a genuinely kind and very smart person that’s worked hard to have lots of nice things. This video definitely caught my attention as I myself am trying to build a capsule wardrobe. I bought my Alma BB in the damier ebene almost two years ago and I love it just as much as I did back then. It’s perfect as I don’t have to be precious about it due to its durability and it goes with every single outfit. I’m now on the hunt for a belt, I think I will go for one from dior but want to buy in person when the shops are open. Just wanted to say that I think you’re great and despite you living a very different lifestyle to me I still find you so relatable and personable unlike other, even bigger youtubers in your industry x
That is lovely feedback, thank you my friend! I think with this genre on YT it absolutely comes across as shallow..... and it kinda is 😂 But it can also be fun 😊 I’m just a regular person at the end of the day, I just like making videos, but I’m very down to Earth in real life, and I hope you all can come here and just feel chilled ☺️ Hugs to you xxx😘😘
Soo happy to see this video! We’re in a culture promoting designer everything and multiples! I personally believe (and no offence to anyone else) that good quality outfits with the odd statement piece looks far more elegant than head to toe in loud labels.
Loved this thank you for sharing :)
Excellent points Sophie. Quality items tend to age much better than fast fashion pieces, they last longer and look better for a longer time. Always enjoy your videos!
I adore your station, so glad I found you!😊
i LOVED this!! eventually i want to work hard enough to buy whatever i want. But, as a 21 yr old beginner stylist, (and my style being classic and minimal, monochromatic) building a capsule wardrobe w timeless designer pieces and good quality clothing is a SMART option!! sure designer clothes is beautiful but i believe u can still achieve ur own personal style w/o spending so much. Great video! well done👏🏼
Wonderful video, Sophie. Excellent advice for this time of year when most are culling their wardrobes and perhaps rethinking their style for the year ahead xx
This was some really good advice. I’m trying to create a more timeless wardrobe filled with good quality items that I love rather than a whole bunch of fast fashion( which is more expensive in the long run when you think about). I’m definitely more of a person that would go for a luxury item that is quite discreet ( no large logos) and non designer items that are well made, as I’d rather the durability, craftsmanship and quality speak for itself😊
Whoop my kind of girl! Hear, hear.
I just adore you, Sophie! Thank you for making such lovely content. ❤️
Love your videos, specially updated capsule luxury wardrobe is always my favorite. 🙂❤
I love this Sophie! Great and on time as always!! 💗💗🌸
I ordered the Balmain dupe. It arrived today, so fast! It’s lovely. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. I’m starting over my wardrobe after a lot of weight loss. I’d love to see more capsule wardrobe videos although I love them all 😀
Perfect timing! Thanks so much Sophie, I am currently in the process to build a capsule wardrobe with basic luxury pieces that I can combine to make multiple outfits.
Love this video!! I have to admit that I do am guilty for amassing a huge amount of fashion items but this video really helps me to think about what the best items in my wardrobe are!! Love your videos! I am following you since the Balmain Blazer video and I love watching you ever since! I am also soo happy how much your channel grew since that because you truly are one of the most genuine people on youtube!! Lots of love!!
Hello Sophie! I said it before, I'll repeat myself, I absolutely love when you are opening letters. Your reaction to all of it always makes me smile 🌞. I also love to see the cute and interesting things you receive from all these lovely people. In this video, I was at awe with the elaborated design of the 3D card 😍 and that bunny 🐰 did I hear it right, it's a mini wind chime? Adorable!
I remember first coming across your channel from a similar video a few years ago...I love everything u do...but this is my favorite type of content
I loved this video! I feel like it was helpful for people starting (or even still building) their wardrobes and so it felt really positive! 🥰
Omg thank you so much for taking time to do this video. Much appreciated ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are so sweet I love how amazed you are especially with the wrapping 🤣all the best to you & David for 2021🍾🍰
Omg, I love the bunnies made of pebbles in the frame! So beautiful and creative!
We must protect this woman at all costs🥰
Living in Southern California, I wish I could do more of a winter, cozy wardrobe, but just can't justify.
Agreed! Thank you for being so reasonable and practical. I'm not into designer clothes to have a designer and don't like grabbing anything that has a name splashed across it. But if it's used and made well with good fabric, particularly natural fibers, I'll pick up a designer piece if it fits my style and I can wear it with many different outfits. Also, getting clothes altered to fit can source up your clothes and make them look way more expensive! Classy and and developing taste isn't just about large sums of money!
What a great video! Love the way how down-to-earth you are❤️
I’ve held off buying new clothes since I gutted my wardrobe, now I’ve got ideas of what to replace everything with 😂 I’ve always loved that Stella coat just never bit the bullet and brought it! I might now though 😍 thanks Sophie x
Another great abs helpful video! I love your advice. And mail time too!! Happy New Year Sophie & David.
I also love the Trendy cc. I think it's absolutely classic and beautiful! And omg the boxed frame of louis and jessica is so freaking adorable and sweet. Such a thoughtful gift 🥰 🥰 Thank you Sophie for the tips and fingers crossed I hope to get the Trendy cc one day 😍
Thank you Sophie. I love posts like this on. I love your style
Thank you for sharing 🥰 It’s always nice to see your videos.
My pleasure 😊 And thank you so much for watching!xx
Thank you Jill, your gift is so thoughtful and beautiful
I’ve really been into luxury lately and wanting to start with just a couple of pieces. So this video is right on time :) thank you Sophie
Try and go for brands that are under the radar focused more on quality and craftsmanship...
I love your advice you sooo right . Keep doing what you doing!!! And I’m sure are going keep watching.😍
when it comes to shoes custom leather is the way to go! Once you find a good shoemaker they will last you for decades (also you can get them repaird seamlessly and you can design them yourselfe) and will be so comfortable no matter how high the heel is. This way you are supporting small local businesses/craftsmen as well. You are likely to pay less than designer shoes and get a better fit for your foot!
I got shoes in Italy from a shoemaker and they were horrible. I paid a lot, wore maybe twice (painfully), and then maybe sold for like $20. I like designer shoes from now on. They have a pretty good resale value if they don’t work out. They usually do work out.
Loved this video. For all the designer stuff you have, you seem such a lovely and personable person
I really, really like your approach to buying luxury ... the accessories are definitely the way to go!
That was a lovely video ! The advice you gave is great, -- one can survive with just a few chosen items and look stylish. Thank you.
I’m loving alll of this! So informative and thanks for sharing that Balmain dupe :)

You are so spot on with everything- it's good to buy good quality shaples with good materials 👌 and the classic accessories can elevate an outfit you've purchased from zara for instance - sound advice as always 💖💖💖
Lovely gift from Jill I love that style of artwork.
I like the 30 Montaigne belt so much more than the saddle belt. The font for the saddle is not special at all, but 30 Montaigne shape makes it look so classy, not just looking like a letter logo. Personally I think 30 Montaigne is here to stay.
Agreed
Great advice and very informative as usual Sophie. Your channel is inspiring!
