4 months later: hindsight is 20-20 on this moment. While it sucks to have lost the Stanley Cup by 1 goal in Game 7, clinching the conference finals at home in front of that crowd and after so long of rebuilding, being doubted, written off, etc... it means more than anyone could ever put into words. With the changes this off-season and salary cap crunch in the coming years, I don't know that the Oilers will make it back to the finals again soon. But as a fan since 2009, I will always cherish the summer of 2024 and appreciate it for what it is/was and this moment captures that perfectly.
I wish we would’ve kept on to some of our depth, McLeod, Broberg, Holloway, Ceci etc. Rough start to the season per usual but who knows, maybe we find our footing and start playing like contenders again. You can only hope
Me too. Couldn’t sit for the last 5 mins., I was too nervous of them tying the game. I almost cried when it was over. I had the stranger beside me hugging me. Didn’t even care, haha. Waiting for game 3 and 4. Let’s Go Oilers!

As a life long Oilers fan born in the early 80s, this is so special to see... We obviously haven't been this excited since 2006... Ugh it feels so good! Lol
I’m from Boston , but I’m glad Edmonton and mcdavid r in the cup final , hope they win , I always make time for Edmonton games to see the best player I’ve seen since Mario .
watching this now brings me to tears as a life long die hard oilers fan this team is everything to me and being so happy then when they made it to cup was everything to me, to hear how loud the fans were is insane really makes u tearful LFG OILERS
Say what you want about Oilers fans, but they always seem to show up for their team, and they know their hockey. Watched this on TV and it was hard not to get wrapped up in their excitement. Loudest I’ve ever heard a barn.
I´m from Germany and here for the Leon Draisaitl experience, mostly. But this atmosphere is absolutly cracy. It reminds me of some of the cracy VfB Stuttgart moments in soccer, with a few championships, or just avoiding relegation in the extra time. I´m pumped for the finals and I want Leon, as the best german hockey player ever, to win his cup! And everybody talks about how good Florida is, and I can somehow undestand that they are slightly favoured, but I hope and believe the oilers can do it once again. Remember: Oilers were the underdog against Dallas, too. I, as someone who likes to watch hockey, but isn´t an expert on tactics and analytics and all this shit, believe that the oilers can adept to almost every style of play and the panthers will find that out the hard way!
My first time ever going to a post-season game and it was one that I will remember for the rest of my life what made it better is it was a finals clenching game.
Been a fan since they defeated my Wings and sent Yzerman into retirement in 2006. Crazy to think it was 16 years since their last cup then, and almost as long since their last finals appearance. Time is a funny thing. PLAY LA BAMBA, BABY!!
I watched this match at the Cabin on Jasper Avenue, I don't remember how or when I got home. The last two minutes were like half of my life. Everyone was screaming, jumping, hugging and kissing, even bartenders and security took part in this chaos. This season is historic: failure at the beginning (they had to manage to screw up 12 games out of 14), 16 historic victories in a row, then Victory in the conference and .... the Stanley Cup! I am sure about that.
I petition the NHL changes the language from “Stanley Cup Finals…to going to the Stanley Cup” In NFL, they say “Going to the Super Bowl” it’s an awareness in choice of words that defines you have achieved greatness and will play for the ultimate trophy in that sport. Saying that something is “Stanley Cup Finals” does not give or convey the significance of making it to play for the Stanley Cup, the greatest trophy in that sport.
It is telling how professionals are either far better at masking their emotions after a loss than junior players, or they simply aren't as invested. These Stars players losing in the Stanley Cup semis appear either more stoic or more disinterested than the young men being eliminated in the Mem Cup.

@@janreldelacruz1674you obviously have zero clue what this means to our city. Oilers have been or thing for 40 years now.
I'm surprised I'm still alive.

Having seen all the Oilers Stanley Cup Finals this one is definitely a long time coming. Go Oilers !!!
Have you ever heard a crowd cheer louder for a simple clear out of the zone? Unreal
Goosebumps
Man, Benn must hate playing elimination games in Edmonton 🤣

Even if Florida win it, they'll be a 'one Cup franchise' just like The Dallas Stars & North Carolina Hurricanes.
We're now 1 win away from the Cup! I hope Leon and our Oilers win the Cup!!!

It almost felt like that the oilers was simply going to test their defensive structure during the third period

The fact that they managed to win with only 10 shots on Dallas and held the stars back in an absolute siege in the end, is insane
Dallas had some decent chances! I’m gonna say 90% skill,10% luck
What makes me so sad is that this is the score in game seven but reversed
So much criticism for Skinner this season when I noticed a 35 to 10 shot difference and Skinner saved 34 of them.
Dallas 6 on 5 and the Oilers only allowed one shot in the final 2 minutes.
McDavid is Superman..he stick handled through Dallas, while in his phone booth..lol😅😅
