      I think its all the vowels, especially so many of the words ending with them. It makes the language very melodic and easy on the ears, I'm a fan

      No, it's just common among Swahili speakers to code switch or use some English/other loan words.

      Swahili is a mix of many languages that was used to unite different tribes

    • @TamuzaKale
      @TamuzaKale Рік тому

      Because he is not right person for the dialogue. The producer supposed to record people from Zanzibar. They don't mix Swahili with English. So that's the problem. Oscar's first language is not Swahili. It might be Sukuma or Gogo... That is the reason. Unlikely us, people from Coast of Tanzania, we are very keen at Swahili.

    • @Model-Rat
      @Model-Rat Рік тому +1

      @@minddump9907 yeah we also say nyimbo or maimbo but that translates closer to “song” while “music” is closer to muziki, but they still make sense vice versa.

    this is not a native Swahili speaker please get a "mSwahili" or an ethnic member or the Swahili group to do this

    • @Solidude4
      @Solidude4 8 років тому +85

      He is a Native speaker. You don't have to be Mswahili to speak Swahili natively. That's like saying you have to be English to speak English natively. The Waswahili are a very small minority among Swahili speakers.

      Nate O. Whats the point of creating a dictionary of language if all your language samples are basically English. The Swahili/Coastal did not speak Swahili mixed with English. Swahili has English loanwords (people still get by without them) but Swahili is not English. Nevermind the fact that the original dialects of Swahili are from the various Swahili people.
      Just like there are various dialects of Arabic you wouldn't nometheless include in a dictionary a soundbite of S. Sudanese pidgeon Arabic instead of actual Koranic Arabic. Or you wouldn't go to Jamaica to learn English. There's nothing wrong with the way they speak but the original English is from England.
      On the other hand if they were collecting samples on various Swahili dialects you could label this under Dar es Salaam/General Tanzanian youth Swahili. However to use it as an official definition or reference on KiSwahili is inaccurate.

      If what that guy is speaking is basically English, then what the hell have I been speaking my whole life?! =D

      You sound like you know Swahili, why don't you record yourself speaking for us? I would really love to hear how a native Swahili speaker sounds.

      Michael Mulongo There are very few languages in this world that are "pure" in nature, with no loan words. Unless you come from a group of people that have isolated themselves from the rest of the world, your native language is likely to have SOME loan words from other languages. That's just how things are.
