FL is surprisingly a difficult DAW to learn.. there are so many pop-up windows and menus... Cubase is very straightforward and extremely powerful. Ableton is by far the most popular but still locks in features and functionality compared to Cubase

haha as an FL Studio user who just tried to start learning cubase, I feel the complete opposite to you there

I agree FL is the hardest Software to learn by far in my experience. FL was and is the game changer when it comes to music production. I wish I could learn it. 😔

@@ProdByWhites That's because FL is an outlier when it comes to user experience and workflow when compared to most other DAWs. It is among the hardest for beginners to grok, and those that have been on it a while will always think going to Cubase is hard because FL is one of the few DAWs out there that goes out of its way to be as much unlike every other on the market as it can manage. So, yea. You aren't really informing the person who wrote that comment. You're actually bolstering his argument. Going between Cubase and Logic, Studio One, REAPER, Pro Tools, Sonar, Samplitude, Digital Performer and others is pretty easy. Even going to Ableton Live or Bitwig is pretty seamless because they generally function like any other Studio DAW, just with Live Production features added in. Maybe a week or so of active use to acclimate to the differences. Going between FL Studio and those DAWs is more like going from Cubase to Maschine/MPC or the other way. FL Studio is more of a groove box with DAW features layered on top of it. It is a fundamentally different type of production software than Cubase, so nothing you stated is unexpected. The only other DAW that may be close to the groove boxes when it comes to learning curve is Reason, and that is by intention, since it is designed to feel like a rack of hardware devices.

former hardcore FL user here. Now on Cubase 13 - and finally very happy, I must say...
Cubase ist way better in so much areas. Mix Console, Midi Editing, Chord stuff, way better plugins and great sample content.
And I really love the fast creative SamplerTrack, Padshop, Retrologue Synths and Groove Agent. Highly recommend.

I switch from fl studio to cubase pro 11,12 and now 13 like 2 years ago because i wanted to produce, mix, master and record all in want and fl i only like it for producing but mixing and recording was hard for me, also i wanted to do most with stock instruments and effects like i did with fl studio so i found cubase the most complete one. It was hard at first producing after coming from fl studios but man believe me now i do everything and on cubase and i like it better from producing than fl ones i get to the workflow and change the key commands, its my favorite daw, and yes i agree people forgot about cubase or assume is a daw only for recording and mixing focus like pro tools just because is one of the most old daws in the market and people who said that use it only use it the until cubase 5 more than 10 years ago in the early 2000s but believe me i recommend everyone to try i think is better than ableton and fl for producing maybe more similar to logic sadly much poeple never get to try it and forgot that exist in every daw war but i think is the best

I use both. It's like owning a huge truck with extra horsepower vs a fancy electric bike that has crazy features. You just need both

FL is more geared to beats, Cubase is geared to recording and editing. FL is like an alternative way of working compared to most daws it’s not that easy to grasp if it’s not your first daw. Most people wouldn’t record their vocals and make an album length project in it. Fl is frustrating with its right click to erase, put clips anywhere in the playlist, assigning mixer tracks…a lot of arbitrary ways of doing what your instinct would tell you.
Cubase is overpacked and kind of tedious like extra clicks and menu pages. I used Cubase like 7 years ago as my workhorse daw. Then switched to Studio One…then in the beginning of this month back to Cubase 13 pro. I don’t like the studio one subscription stuff and them forcing you to get it to have a full package and breaking the mid cycle major updates when you have a perpetual license. Anyway It’s so frustrating getting back into the swing of the workflow for Cubase. Like setting up your outputs, control room, then figuring out how to turn the metronome on to “hear” it lol, to why the volume in your transport bar won’t get lower or higher. Most daws you don’t have to configure the whole project for things to function, to build within the project after.

I mean Hans Zimmer is a Cubase user also Boris Brejcha. That's tells it all. Cubase is the King of DAWs. I'm using Cubase since 1995, trying and buying all other DAWs like FL Studio, Studio One, Ableton, Reason, Bitwig, Logic, AVID, etc... but for the real stuff, always coming back to Cubase because it's the best on the market for every single solution but NOT for playing life sets, that's another story ;-)

I'm learning FL Studio so I can collaborate with a buddy of mine who uses it and I'm shocked at how counterintuitive it is. I would think because of its popularity and use in pop music/hip hop, it would be the intuitive person's DAW but for me that's not the case. I've used Digital Performer, Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, and Studio One and I've never had a learning curve like going from Cubase to FL Studio. Argh.

Many moons ago my dilema was FL Studio or Cubase. I decided to Go with FL. There was always the question "what if." The reason I picked FL was that I intended to use it as drum machine. I wasn't even considering making a full production on it. But things change. Eventually I did make entire music pieces on it.

Steingberg's Cubase is a very powerful DAW remember Steingberg gave us VST technology so they know what they are doing. The reason for the lack of interest in Cubase had to do with the dongle requirement even to try the demo one needed a dongle. Why would one purchase a dongle just to try Cubase? As if Steinberg did not anyone to try Cubase. Fortunately this is no longer the case and more producer can try Cubase now the dongle requirement is gone. Which led me to try demo; now available for 60 days and I purachased Cubase PRO 13 after using it for only 10 days. FL Vs Cubase? Not a fair fight.

Cubase has 3 mixers, built in analyzers that are great, way too many great features to mention in a comment or a video.

Just tried FL Studio, garbage interface, if Cubase has similar mechanics, won´t even will try it. Both programs seem like hanging around a micro-labyrinth to turn you life into hell. PASS.
Made it to minute four, nice vid before taking a nap.

Lifetime free update for fl studio? Let me check in my memory: they changed "fruity loops" into "fl studio" implying you had to pay! All they need to do is to change the name again if they want you to pay 😁
