As a DAF mecanic, I can tell you,
he is not showing his secrets.
He is not crazie, he will do it for you.

Watch those fingers! Looks good cleaned up and I'm pretty sure the PTO was the leading reason this trans went south to begin with. Nice advertisement for the shop.

well, that looks like a good build. but where is your shop located so I can bring my truck? your website just says to call, and offers no specifics as to price, location or diagnosis of minor repairs or a full rebuild. how am I supposed to know what's exactly wrong with my 18 speed?

Not seen or worked on one of these for 30 years thank goodness. Much prefer ZF AS tronic. Fit and forget and no clutch replacing either. Let's have an easy life instead of rolling about on the floor messing with primitive gearboxes, clutches and that stupid stick thing with 5/32 air pipes.
Glad we've moved on.

ok, I have to say this. 2:54 the gears are not seen and 2:56 all gear are installed? Why did you cut that important final gear assembly out?
lol that top counter shaft is a little hard to get in with the pump gear installed ,but I have a tool for that :)

To bad that's a 13 speed I can tell by the air system 18 speeds don't have a 5/32 air fitting on the high side hose of the a-5000 valve. And he built that the hard way
Spanky Roberts Right it so much easier to build it with the input shafts down . You don't run the risk of the counter shafts falling on your fingers.
How about the 3 hour struggle with the main shaft and circus music ? lol

I honestly thought an Eaton-Fuller transmission would be bigger than that - it looks like a very space-efficient design though.
What are the yellow position marks on the gears for? Do they need to mesh at a specific point to make sure everything else meshes properly?

Yes the countershafts have to be in time with the main drive gear.
Why doesn't Eaton use syncromesh (brass rings)?

That's not an 18 speed. It's a 13. Look at the shop knob, and you didn't even show how to build the main shaft, installing the roller beatings, timing it, or building the rear section. So you really didn't show a damn thing on how to rebuild.

16 speed zf acosplit the very best.i drive one m.a.n. f2000 truck.zf trans rebuild 1600000km...100000miles...but not pull just 46000 lbs!pull 78000lbs load weight!
Whats cost
l have problems with the splitter on my 18 speed l can go hi to low and vice versa but I can't split the gears to get the full 18
any suggestions on what the problem could be thank you.
Take a look at the synchronizer in aux housing. Could be worn or damaged.
Columbus Christopher the splitter sliding clutch is worn out. That would be my guess

You skipped the annoying part of putting in/timing the mainshaft.
This is a different way of building an RTLO**913A transmission. I personally don't prefer to build them on end. The rookie mistakes in this video though 🤣

+Carla Wilkinson Yep, you are correct, the high side main line (the big black line)., is "T'ed", 18 speed is not. I didn't see a good pic. of the aux. splitter gear but an 18 has a bearing and a 13 has a washer set up.
