bharathwaj kancharapu dawn is dishsoap. it's blue and it smells really nice. for the carpet cleaner you can use other dish soap, but for the tick/flea treatment i recommend just using dawn.

Here's some advice (I'm a groomer) try putting a collar, but preferably a body harness, you don't mind getting wet on them while you bathe them so you can use one hand to soap and the other to hold them still

I have 4 small puppies. They knock the gate down to go upstairs. They were running up at 2 and half weeks. The barrier didnt work and im tired of putting it up.

I just wanted to warn everyone that has a dog and feeds it peanut butter. They are starting to put an artificial sweetener in peanut butter called xylitol (pronounced zylotol) and once your dog eats this it will kill your dog and there is no cure. Luckily they list it in the ingredients on the label so I’m just warning anyone that feed their dog peanut butter to look at the ingredients before buying it or feeding it to your dog. I hope this helps people (it’s not a very well known fact)

A list of some poisonous peanut butters for dogs b/c they contain xylitol. 1) Go Nuts, Co., (2) Hank's Protein Plus Peanut Butter, (3) Krush Nutrition, (4) Nuts 'N More, and (5) P28. Most of these come from nutrition stores. There may be more peanut butters that contain it so double check the ingredients when u buy peanut butter for your dog!
Chiiicken Nugget check the ingredients on the back.
I give my little (16 lbs) dog bits of sandwich with Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter. It has never hurt her, so I think it is on the safe list.
I always check the ingredients for Xylitol before I buy. Anything with Xylitol goes back on the shelf.
My dog is so picky he doesn't like peanut butter, I've never had a dog that refused it. Same thing with French fries, but he loves to eat toilet paper and my underwear 😡😑
That's so weird! I mean I understand a dog eating toilet paper and underwear, but not eating peanut butter and french fries! Damn. Your dog only wants to snack on inedible things. lol. I read somewhere that stray cats and sometimes stray dogs are more picky eaters than domesticated ones though, it was a study or something.

I tried placing a ball in their food bowl. He removed the ball and continued eating. I know that isnt working with my dog
Don't wet the dog with water before shampooing. Mix ANY shampoo with water in an old squirt bottle. Start applying the soapy water on a dry dog, starting at the nose and work your way back and down. Kills fleas just as quick as your method, but no vinegar is needed. I was a professional groomer for 21 years.

WolfRyder You don't need either if you use the method I explained. Flea shampoos can be toxic and Dawn dish detergent can dry out the skin if used too frequently. Just mixing dog shampoo with water and applying to a dry dog, letting it set least 3 to 5 minutes does the trick. Rinse really, really well. Leaving any residue on the dog's skin will burn their skin.
@Moon Shadow I was the same way but it actually does work. (I would tell you how but I have no idea) I lived in an area with AWFUL sand fleas that were very hard to get rid of. We got a puppy that was too young for a flea treatment, so we did Dawn and it really did work

get a slice of cheese, trow it it the microwave for 10-15 secs, then let it cool for 10 secs, put the pill in and make it into a ball. let it fully cool off. then give your dog the cheese ball that covers all sides

Depends on what language you use. It is recommended to use a currently supported OS but if you can't afford that, there are open source options as well like Puppy Linux. (If you didn't get the joke, Puppy Linux is a old Linux distro and actually exists)
I thought you could only Puppy Linux for the first 12 months, after that if you don't upgrade apparently your dog just keeps crashing and dragging its ass on the floor

I had a chow wolfand her son part sharpei. She would climb the 6 foot fence i put in. He would just jump over it. When i made it taller she chewed through it...he..jumped over it. God i miss them
I have spent well over a hundred dollars on varies puzzle feeders for my dog because she bolts her kibble. She was able to work them out in no time or get around them. I put a ball in her bowl, she just lifts it out. I glued it in so she just picks it up and turns the bowl over and gets the food that way. In the end I hit on an idea. She has her kibble at night and she has it in three sittings with at least 39 mins in between.
I put it in a ball that I cut a hole in. the hole is just a bit bigger than the kibble pieces so only one piece can fall out at a time. She has to roll it and throw it around to get them out. It has slowed her down a lot.

GSDmom B you don't know what you are talking about. My dog gets a snack in the morning but her main meal in the afternoon about 4 pm. She love her food and bolts it because as a pup she had to complete with stronger dogs in the litter. So she goes fast to get it down before something takes it from her. Lots of dogs bolt their food. If they didn't why would it get mentioned in the hacks. She is actually a bit over weight, so she gets enough. Why I am explaining to you I don't know. If you have a dog then you look after it and if you do it half as well as I do then your dog will be okay. The 39 minutes was a typo. it was meant to be 10 minutes.

I like the idea of the peanut butter pill balls, but there should be a warning for artificial sweeteners in the peanut butter and coconut milk (specifically xylitol) as this can be more harmful than chocolate
Also, keeping the dog food in the bag with the protective liner and then placing the entire bag in a storage container is much better for keeping the food fresh - plus you have the lot code in case there are any recalls or issues

MT Nguyen dogs are little tougher than credited. I had a sheltie that accidentally ate a whole pound of homemade fudge he had shits for couple days but was otherwise fine. depends on size and amount of whatever dog eats but dogs get into all kinds of things most owners don't even know about.unless your teacups which I have no experience with dogs that small that require that amount of pampering. I have only been owned by dogs 25lbs and up.🐶

Absolutely LOVE the dog gate idea. We've been struggling w/this for some time now. We currently have 2 small boxes & a bottle of cleaner that hasn't been opened yet that's holding the boxes in place. She's tested it once & went thru it but it was when I was home & there were a couple of delivery guys here. I think the excitement got the best of her. Otherwise, she is always behind the boxes still in the room she was placed in when we come home. Thanks. You just saved us a fortune!

Bradley Morris and yet...they don't. At least the 3 dogs I've tried that with haven't moved the ball. Surprised me, disappointed me, too ~ I realized those 3 dogs weren't as smart as I had thought. Next up is the ball-crazed Border Collie. I'll update w results. Will try with random item in her bowl first, then a few days later with one of her toys. She's more toy-motivated than food- so I'm going to bet she'll just pick out the toy or ball and want to play, leaving food in the bowl untouched.

We actually hide little bits of food all around the house so she has to go find them to eat them. You'll need some small containers, but it works better and she has fun "hunting" them.

Yup!! I had a 3ft baby gate to keep my Westie mix contained while I was out when I first got her- That lasted all of 3 months. She gave no fucks, she'd be over the gate in two seconds flat. Then I tried the curtain rod trick, she didn't care about that much either, and crashed right into it. I gave up after that...

The muffin tin trick works! I watched this video last night and tried it with my little boy who recently started eating too fast. I also threw a tennis ball in there to add complexity. It slowed him down a lot! Also trying the cooling pad trick right now and he's snuggled up on it. Thanks so much for posting this!

Another way of hiding a pill for your dog to take, is just cut a small section of hot dog, and push the pill into the cut wiener. The doggy will usually wolf it down and be non the wiser. Its a lots less hassle than a fancy recipe :-)
ImTheDaveman I used to do that but she saw me do it once and now she won't take hot dogs from me anymore DX
Sandwich meat wrapped around the pills. If they seem me take a nibble first, they don't care if it has pills; they just want whatever they think I'm eating. Pills is about the only time I share, so they get happy when they know it's coming.
I stuck it into the wet dog food(not canned)
It worked as well, it is a faster thing to do than make peanut butter balls as it is right there.
my dog is super smart and picky, if the pill pocket isn't snugly encompassing the entire pill/pills he will separate the pills in his mouth and spit them out. hot dogs, cheese, sandwich meat, wet food, he isn't fooled. I can sometimes get away with a half a peanut butter sandwich with the pills in, but if he sees me put them in there he will suss them out of that too. He's a big German Shepherd, so pill pockets are the best option since usually I have to give him more than just one pill at a time, but the sandy does work most of the time too. when he takes his allergy medicine which starts at 6 pills per day and weans down to two over the course of a couple weeks, the peanut butter balls recipe would be perfect. 😊 I am very envious of people with dogs who just scarf down treats with pills, life must be so easy... lol.

in the flea shampoo you only need to use the dawn dish soap. We use it on our animals and it works just fine.

Yep.
Not the foam version though. The original. Rescue teams use it for animals affected by oil spills. We used it on our flea infested cat and kit worked.
Its really gentle too so don't worry.

The vinegar is to kill the fleas and keep them away, even though only dawn works to get rid of them.

Socks are a horrible thing to give dogs, even as part of a toy - they WILL shred it, and if they swallow any threads, they can cause an intestinal blockage.

Yup the pill is always second or third treat by then they are inhaling the treats. Well most dogs. I had one dog find that pill every time 😂
Ha!! That's what I did..I thought I founf the solution till he started spitting out the pills, the sneaky rascal..so now I keep the pill under the treat and when he grabs the treat from my fingers he eats them both and voila!!

When I put the ball in meh bowl... my Pomeranian just pushes it out... she eats too quickly. We are scared it is really bad for the digestive part. Do you guys know other ideas I can do? I'm no vetenarian or anything, but I don't think it is a good idea to make the first hack. The dog will get encouraged to chew on more socks and if the dog eats the sock it could lead to clogged intestines.

@@netts2315 My Boston Terrier ONLY plays with the bottle until the lid is off then its no more fun. The tied sock keeps the lid inside of the sock and out of the pooch! I use it all the time works great!

Mine would too, because those balls are "hard" enough to make her try to chew them. I usually just take a spoonful of liver pate and push it in, because she knows she doesn't have to chew that. I'm guessing normal, smooth peanut butter would work better than the ball. Hope you got the pill situation sorted out, at least, and that your dog is okay!
this is what we do with my dog we make a ball of cream cheese and then put the pill inside I'm telling you all dogs love cream cheese I've never met one that hasn't

Yes, it needs to be Dawn, only the blue one. Not the other colors or moisturizing kind. Really does work. Lather a bit and rinse well. Follow with dog shampoo because dog shampoo has the right PH for dogs skin.

She hates baths and constantly pulls away & puts her teeth on me... she'd rip that barrier to shredds & if she sees me trying to hide a pill in her food she won't take any food from me & then when i do manage to slip her a pill she'll chew the treat down til the pill is free and spit it out. 🙄🤔

Pro tip: For fleas
The dawn dish soap does work! Especially for puppies (and cats).. You don't have to use the vinegar but make sure it's the blue dawn(not with fragrance). Also, use tearless shampoo for the head. Start at the head & wait because the fleas will run to the body. Then you can lather the body. Wait 5-10 minutes. You can get both at a $1 store.
If you use store bought flea shampoo, please don't use it as a preventative or to often. It contains toxic ingredients. Be careful of certain flea collars and drops that the product hasn't had harmful (even death) reactions. Lastly, make sure they are accurate to your pets WEIGHT. Protect your pet from fleas and ticks which carry lime disease.
