This video has everything I wanted to find when looking for upgrade information on this pre-con. I am a new to Magic player and appreciate all of the information and the format it was prevented in.
I like Court Hussar a lot in this deck, more so than Acclaimed Contender. Court Hussar will get you a guaranteed card with no conditions even though you only look 3 cards deep instead of 5, without requiring another Knight in play to trigger its ability. Also, if you bring it back with Sidar Jabari, it'll conveniently put itself back in the graveyard without needing a sacrifice outlet so you can churn through your deck faster. The first two cards I added to my list were Nameless Inversion and Crib Swap, to go with Haakon, the hands down best card in the 99. Repeatable instant speed removal is a fantastic way to use your mana when you're cheating all your creatures into play with your general. I put them in over Path to Exile and Return to Dust due to my longstanding dislike for both cards. Glory is another great inclusion too. Thanks to Sidar Jabari's eminence trigger it's a free card to discard, and giving your whole board protection from a chosen color at instant speed makes combat a breeze and your opponents' interaction so much worse. I'd rather draw it over Smitten Swordmaster, whose creature side is trash and adventure side seldom drains for more than 5 or 6. Finally, because countermagic is sometimes the best form of protection, Deny the Witch and Sister of Silence can stop both spells and abilities as well as provide additional value, whether it's another on-tribe body or a sudden blow to a player's lifetotal. The two Lieges from Shadowmoor feel underwhelming since their point of overlap is the least represented color in the deck, and drawing one when your board is primarily the one color that doesn't get a stat boost feels bad. Can't wait to see the upgrade for the Convoke deck. Saint Traft and Rem Karolus have grown on me over the last few days, so I might end up grabbing the deck and refocusing it around them.
@@Cupitron It's from Judgment originally, but it was reprinted in Dominaria Remastered. 3WW for a 3/3 Incarnation with Flying, but if it's in your graveyard you can pay 2W to give all of your creatures protection from a color of your choice at instant speed. It's not a Knight, but neither is Unbreakable Formation or other cards like it, and they fill much the same role.
I disagree with removing syr konrad. He also deals damage for discarding, which you will be doing at least once per turn cycle, but probably more. Also for things leaving the graveyard. Essentially he perfectly pairs with the commander
Yeah, I agree with that he should probably stay in. I tried the base precon yesterday and even just having him on the board is a good board-wipe deterrant. If someone is low and a lot of creatured are present, he can just AOE drain people to death. In addition to his synergy with the looting.
I never realized double strike is 2 instances of combat damage to a player which would then trigger Sidar's reanimate ability twice, very cool! I told my buddies to enter into your giveaway, very neat that the more subs, the better the giveaway. As always keep up the great work!

I always enjoy your videos. I made that vishgraz flicker deck but took out the proliferate for more ways to get the mites unblockable, then added other random etb creatures and elesh norn from ONE. She never lasts long on the field but it never hurts to try Weirdly enough I want to get a few of these precons and not upgrade them so I can play with some kids at work that don’t have access to crazy upgrades… but this deck seems fun, so maybe I’ll have some sideboard upgrades that I’ll use if I go play at a store. Heck, I already have kindred discovery and a couple of the other cards. The most expensive upgrade I’d want to buy would be kinsbaile cavalier
Liked this upgrade a lot. I actually have good chunk of the cards because I have been working on Syr Gwen knight tribal build. Recently thinking of making it a equipment build instead.
Great video as always! I'm excited for this precon, even if it winds up being "just another tribal deck" in the end, the theme of getting to be the armies of Zhalfir is just too cool to pass up. It always makes me feel better when I see that I've already snagged most of the upgrades you suggested - my deckbuilding must be getting better. I'm going to try out Patriarch's Bidding in my deck, as there's usually a lot of board wipes at my shop and so I really like mass reanimation when I can add it in. Plus the commander makes filling the graveyard a bit easier too. Storm of Souls is another pet card, but idk if it fits as well here.
Tbf the deck comes with its own mass reanimation card, specifically for Knights; it's a bit pricey as an 8 mana activated ability but the enchantment does a lot of work on its own as-is
Just bought this deck as I love Knights. Though. Did want to ask, since you added Kwende, why not add the enchantment Knighthood? It gives everything First Strike then Kwende gives them Double Strike
People need to chill with the Syr Konrad part. The guy costs 5 mana. The way the deck is built, it doesn't focus on mass self mill/discard/opponent mill etc. This is a good deck to be able to play stuff that has more synergy with the decks gameplan.
I think your misunderstanding the deck, your supposed to discard syr konrad to the emence ability, then Reanimate him for free off the attack trigger, then konrad will trigger off all the creatures you discard, or use his ability to put more knights to Reanimate in the graveyard
Cover of Darkness is really good here. Is it chivalrous? No but when dealing with an invasion that is cataclysmic to the plane, you’ll take the methods presented to you.
More interaction is always good to keep the board clear of threats and (if you don't mind the 40k flavor) Sister's of Silence are a decent source of tribal spell/ability disruption - so I can see them easily fitting in the deck! Good suggestion!
I've lost count of the number of times I've won while playing a white deck because I included Akroma's Will. It's pricy (under $20), but it wins games.
Replace Read the Bones with Notion Rain and one of your 2 mana artifacts that tap for colorless with Deranged Assistant and thank me later, Notion Rain is a Dimir version of Read the Bones that Surveils instead of Scry's, potentially feeding your graveyard with a good Knight or two. Deranged Assistant taps to mill and add colorless, also potentially milling a Knight.
This is probably one of the best precons, in terms of gameplay-wise and value-wise...? Looking forward to the next upgrade video because i am quite intrigued in the Convoke precon.
Watched like 3 or 4 different videos on upgrades to this Commander and this one is a bit more to my liking though I would of liked to see a bit more blue with cards like Bident of Thalia, Reconnaissance Mission, and Coastal Piracy. But overall, a great upgrade video. 👌
Glad you enjoyed it! The extra draw that you mentioned would certainly give the build more resources to play with, so I can see them slotting in quite nicely!
Hey, I tried this upgraded deck, and I found it pretty sweet overall! It was a bit awkward at times if the commander was destroyed though, so I was wondering what you think of adding more redundancy, like Priest of Fell Rites? Also a Lightning Greaves seems good here for haste and to protect key creatures like Haakon
If you feel like those additions would benefit based on you experience you should add them and see what results you get. Nothing works better than actually playing with the changes. priest is good since it's low cmc but it's also a little slow due to requiring it to be tapped as part of the cost. Can't go wrong with greaves they are always a solid pick. Grazzet probably didn't add them in here since it would likely break the budget. Greaves run around $10 nowadays.
Might ask why you didn't pick invasion of New Phyrexia, it makes a ton knights if you enough mana in it and it gets you a planes walker that can draw card and put knights in the graveyard, give emblems to buff them, or just shuffle cards back in the oppoints deck. Is it really that expensive already?
Regarding Invasion of New Phyrexia - it is indeed a very solid addition but since I was releasing this build so early before the prices stabilized for the set, I was concerned that the price would skyrocket by the time the set was available - making the build a bit more than the advertised $75. Seeing as its sitting around $10 now and increasing, that may have been the right call. Still, if you have it already or don't mind going over budget, it would make a fantastic addition!
Happy to hear you agree with them! Elenda, the Dusk Rose wouldn't be a bad addition, though she does take a bit of time to get online with enough +1/+1 counters to be a threat. I would run her at your digression.
A nice midweek surprise. I look forward to watching it. Quick FYI, your decklist link leads to your Growing Threat precon upgrade. EDIT: Just finished the video, I liked all the changes to the deck would be more than happy to run it against (almost) and EDH table. Looking forward to the remaining two upgrades decks. If I may ask, are you looking to get these out faster than typical to catch up with Chiss-Goria and Solphim before/very soon after MOM releases?
Great video and well-edited! Personally I would even cut Knights of the Black Roses (monarchy could be an advantage for opponents) and Xerex (because I may not play 2 spells per turn due to high mana curve of this deck) Invasion of New Phyrexia is a great add due to the Teferi Effect that is Knight themed :) Overall great work!
Glad you enjoyed it! Invasion of New Phyrexia would indeed make a great addition with its mass tribal token creation and tribal anthem on the backface - though if you didn't buy it before, its far past budget now (Nearly $10 at the time of posting this).
I can imagine - its only seen 1 real printing back in core set 2020 and since this is probably the most popular of the precons this time around, most folks are trying to get thier hands on it. Hopefully it gets a reprint soon - or is at least put on The List like they did for Cavalier of Night.
It made the short list in testing for me and it is a decent knight with build in evasion to proc our commander, benefit from the reanimation we'll be doing to grow bigger, and even gain us life back - so I think it would make a fine addition!
I know this is an old video but I LOVE IT. Thanks to you my Sidar deck has been fully upgraded for a while now and is my main deck when it comes to playing Commander with my friends. Important question though. I was given a Teferi’s Protection for my Birthday from my friend and don’t know what to swap it out with after your upgrades. Any advice? @GrazzetMTG
Grazzet, I really like all these videos. But I have a burning question: If you had a much higher budget, how would you upgrade them beyond the few select upgrades here (beyond the obvious mana base)? I suppose it's a request if the upgrade section could be expanded. But also, I am really curious what a creative deck builder like you could do with the precon and like a 500 dollar budget. Which would also make it a more unique type of video as no one is currently doing videos with an upgrade budget that high i believe.
One other good include is probably Duelist's insight. 3 mana enchantment, gives one creature double strike each combat. Can be used politically and just to buff Sidar
Forgive me if this is hasty. But why would you want generous gift over the recastable crib swap. Hakon would allow us to recast crip swap as many times as we can.
He would make a superb addition for sure, but currently is running about $15 (the market place price on TCGplayer says $7.96, but no one is selling it at that) so it had to be delegated to additional upgrades to stay under budget.
Hol' up, it ain' Tuesdae, innit? Bloo'y 'ell! Bri'ish memes aside, amazing deck as always! Sorry for the late responses though... life was a tad annoying and busy. Day 609 of waiting for the face reveal. How would you finish the sentence "____ and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race."? Because I would put either The Great Henge or Mirrodin in the blank spot.
It would make a decent addition in my opnionion - we're already going to getting a lot of knights onto the battefield and cracking in with them, so getting even more cards as we do so is always a plus (since we are already running a similar effect in Kindred Discovery). Additionally, the compelled attack can be useful to set up alpha strikes.
@@GrazzetMTG I've gotten it into play in one match and it was pretty fun using it along with other draw engines. I'm considering thought vessel or reliquary tower just because the draw can be extreme, but most of the time you want to be discarding to 7. My other consideration is Ayara's Oathsworn from Aftermath. The tutor could potentially be very useful but it can be hard to pull off. Edit: I just looked at it again and it's a 2/2 menace for 1B that pumps itself, that's definitely going in there.
True, and our commander can bring it back with his reanimation so we can continue to use it again and again to protect our commander and our more important knights! Good suggestion!
The Divine Convocation precon is pretty solid in my opinion, probably the 2nd or 3rd best precon out of the box and it has a lot of new/old tools to improve upon it. Hope that helps!
Syr Konrad does so much damage as you send creatures to the yard from your hard and getting them out of it with Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir, you don't need to sacrifice anything, creatures will die. Only card I'd recommend keeping from the swaps. Syr Konrad just warps games around it, one of the strongest knights.
Is there any email I can contact you on? I am willing to support your channel and pay for an ultimate upgrade list. Assuming there is no limit to the price of cards for upgrades.
Heya! Just got my precon and was making the upgrades, would it maybe be possible to create an additional list with the cutted cards? I somehow ended up with 103 cards in my deck haha. Love the video's, by far my fav deck upgrade channel!
it be funny if you had the great hengited as a expensive suggestion and mention: " i know this card cant be in the deck due to it being green, but i still want a reprint WIZARDS PLEASE!
I hate this deck. It looks brocken as hell put of the box and now this upgrades is making it more dangerous. Hope my friend don'ake me hate this deck even more T^T
Its probably the best Precon out of the box in my opinion, but broken may be a stretch. Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir's eminence is really tame compared to other eminence commanders and his damage trigger is a tribal reanimation, meaning he has a decent amount of restrictions in what he can do. With that said - the deck is still pretty solid overall and with a few upgrades can be even better.

Which would also make it a more unique type of video as no one is currently doing videos with an upgrade budget that high i believe.
One other good include is probably Duelist's insight. 3 mana enchantment, gives one creature double strike each combat. Can be used politically and just to buff Sidar
I just bought a kinsbaile cavalier for less than half a dolar, price variance between Europe and na sometimes makes no sense at all lol.
Any chance we could get a Tor Wauki The Younger build in the future?
Forgive me if this is hasty. But why would you want generous gift over the recastable crib swap. Hakon would allow us to recast crip swap as many times as we can.
Will growing threat be phyrexian tribal?
Why not Kinsbaile Cavalier, he gives all your knights double strike for only 4 mana.
He would make a superb addition for sure, but currently is running about $15 (the market place price on TCGplayer says $7.96, but no one is selling it at that) so it had to be delegated to additional upgrades to stay under budget.
Wrong pre con on the description link?
Awesome vid! Subbed 😁
Thanks!
Would include Mirror Entity
How do you feel about the inclusion of Bident of Thassa?
Dauntless Bodyguard for protection that is cheap money and mana wise, as well as a knight.
True, and our commander can bring it back with his reanimation so we can continue to use it again and again to protect our commander and our more important knights! Good suggestion!
Is there anymore upgrades? I'm willing to spend money
Thanks
i buyed Kasla, she is any good ?
The Divine Convocation precon is pretty solid in my opinion, probably the 2nd or 3rd best precon out of the box and it has a lot of new/old tools to improve upon it.
Hope that helps!
@@GrazzetMTG
Tks, it helped
A lot of videos have this same way of speaking. It makes me think of Captain Kirk.
Thanks it's one is 👍 ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fire Marshal Bill, is that you?
I will take that as a complement because I love Jim Carry and those skits.
Syr Konrad does so much damage as you send creatures to the yard from your hard and getting them out of it with Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir, you don't need to sacrifice anything, creatures will die. Only card I'd recommend keeping from the swaps. Syr Konrad just warps games around it, one of the strongest knights.
tnx🙂
Is there any email I can contact you on? I am willing to support your channel and pay for an ultimate upgrade list. Assuming there is no limit to the price of cards for upgrades.
Heya! Just got my precon and was making the upgrades, would it maybe be possible to create an additional list with the cutted cards? I somehow ended up with 103 cards in my deck haha. Love the video's, by far my fav deck upgrade channel!
There is a pinned comment on the video with every single swap made to the build for exactly that that.
Hope that helps!
@@GrazzetMTG oh wow haha, should have looked better😅
it be funny if you had the great hengited as a expensive suggestion and mention: " i know this card cant be in the deck due to it being green, but i still want a reprint WIZARDS PLEASE!
Also why would you not put kinsbaile cavalier or invasion of new phyrexia?
Anyone else watch these even if you have no desire to get the precon?
I liked the video but voice filter used for this video was awful.
These add-on’s are garbage
At 1:15, the previous precon showed up for a split second. Thought I'd be that guy to point that out. 🫨
