Hello John I wanted to take the time to say thank you for providing us a comparison from the older Model Y to the new Model Y Juniper. I would like to request a future UA-cam of cleaner watt to address: 1. battery size and range old vs new 2. the option of power boost (added cost) 3. number of cameras and pixel resolution , old vs new 4. hardware versions old vs new 5. does the new version have the capability of vehicle to grid charging and the requirement of a Tesla power wall to accomplish this. I already have solar panels on my roof and this is a prime interest for me. Thank you for considering my request. Take care and please keep your great videos coming. John
A better question than "should you upgrade" which only applies to the few million that already bought a MY is "will this upgrade be enough to curb sales declines and get more people interested in buying a MY".
Sales have increased in the past three quarters, globally and in most markets. MY is the best selling car in the world and the best selling car in China where much cheaper rivals exist.
@@michaelsmithers4900 Sales are down YoY... we cannot lie like the bears do to protect Tesla. They introduced a new vehicle (Cybertruck) plus tons of incentives and yet sales fell. That is the truth.
@@BillB33525 50K is just a guess not an official statement. That's also only a months worth of orders, but the real test will be Europe and North America where sales were down year over year.
I'm glad I got the Model 3 Highland but I would almost switch to the Y for the stocks. Forward/reverse is ok but chasing the turn signal around the steering wheel is intolerable. I tested the Model Y before the refresh and it was just "clunky" to use an official term. LOL. The refreshed looks really nice...mostly. A lot of empty real estate in the back...but if you like lots of bumper stickers, you're in business!
Batteries ? No one talks about new batteries. There is a new CATL LFP for EU/China made Y SR and M3 SR. Whats the charge curve ? Better than the BYD blade LFP in the MY SR MiG ? Front castings and structural battery for all MY ? Today only for some US SR and MiG SR BYD, not the LR. What about the LG LR battery ? New version as well, or still the old stuff ? Which batteries in the US ?
Rear components are broken into more sections to make it cheaper/easier to replace in the event of an accident rather than replacing out a large and expensive section.
It's just not possible to fit everyone. I'm pretty close to the statistical average at 5'10" / 170, so that's probably why the current Model Y seats fit me perfectly.
What happened to the PROJECTION HEADLIGHTS? Lights that place a blank spot on vehicles ahead and oncoming so you don't blind them. Bummer, I was so looking forward to that.
I wouldn't trade my 2023 Y for a while. Ventilated front seats, quiet glass, and front bumper camera interest me though. Definitely not until it has hardware 5 and self cleaning cameras that won't be blinded by direct sun. Air suspension with pot hole correction would be nice. Maybe with the Model Y refresh refresh.
I like the new look. There are so many reasons to wait for the new Juniper it's hard to narrow them down. Perhaps it won't take 3 months to get to the USA due to sales slump effect. Tesla just removed the bestselling car IN THE WORLD away from the consumer! Few buyers have ever been excited to get last year's model when the New Model is right around the corner. Personally, I am looking forward to the New Y!
Very nice wrap up. But frunk is not motorised. About range, you can go on Tesla page to different country where is WLTP visible. The better LR acceleration is due to special pack, it will not be part of standard production. No reason for that.
Upgrade? This will be my first Tesla. What is this 70 parts into 1 on the new Model Y? What 70 parts? They had front and rear giga castings, what's left? The sides? The body in one hit? How come no one is talking about this?
Why does anyone need powered rear seat backs? How difficult is it to pull a knob or lever to pull down or raise the seat backs? No need for it to be powered. I would rather have 18” wheels, and would like to have a protective grill over the radiator below the front of the car. And why is there still no heads up display? Love the new ventilated seats and powered front trunk lid. I wish they were using the new CATL Shenxing Plus LFP batteries.
@@hermanstokbrood Did I say anything about the price? I live in Thailand and am looking to buy the refreshed Model Y in the next two years. The import tax will make it about $75k USD, but I don’t care because I have been all in on Tesla since April 2020. But thanks for your stoopid comment.
@@tonymai1844 Uh, how much better and faster do rear seats need to be than doing it manually. I never heard anyone complain about it before. How about rear seats that can manually be removed entirely, like in my 2004 RAV4? That gives more storage space and reduces weight, and would be much more desirable for more customers.
Any decision must take into account the depreciation of an existing Model Y. I have a 2023 Model Y AWD with 22,000 miles on it. I added red paint and white interior. Standard wheels. I paid $50,000. This car used is about $35,000. That means if I sell it I paid $15,000 in less than 2 years. Let's assume a 2025 MY LR is $52,000. That means a $17,000 additional cost for the new version. But it's 2 years newer, so let's pull a number out of a hat and give that a $4000 credit. Now it's $13,000 more, or roughly 25% more. The '25 has a 4.5% range increase. So let's credit that too, giving us about a 20% increased cost. But we're not done. The S & P average rate of return annually (after taxes) is about 5%. So add the loss of gains for spending $10,000 over 2 years,($1000) for a total of $11,000 Are the added features worth $11,000? Improved ride is probably the biggest benefit. But an upgraded suspension is about $1500. So now it's the rest of the improvements for $9,500. Range is king. If the '25 had a range increase of 25% or 82 miles, it would be 412 miles. That would be a substantial difference requiring new calcs and my consideration.
Even with the 5% range increase it will be substantially more. Current Model Y can’t it it’s advertised range. Not even close. Model 3 highland is beating its range estimate. New model y is faster. It essentially is getting free acceleration boost.
I think the amount of times of buying a new car 2 years after the former buy and still be a financial improvement would be extremely rare. Could you give even one example?
Go drive a Highland 3 and then a current model Y. I’d be willing to bet you will find the quietness not nearly as pronounced as you think. If you don’t have kids does a rear screen matter? Power folding seats may be something to just break and even if they don’t, how often do you really need them? Does the new screen offer anything different, no. Is the ambient lighting a game changer? No, it just looks cool. Is the current suspension even bad on the MY? Not really. Do ventilated seats really matter when you and start your climate remotely let alone have over temp protection in the cabin? Another not really. My EV6 has both and it’s like 9:1 using heated seats over ventilated. Is all of that worth the likely increased cost and losing out if a $3000+ off current Model Y, that nets you 95% of the experience? My opinion is a hard no. The Highland 3 is only noticeably quieter than the Y when on the loudest paved roads which is generally rare if your state redoes them regularly. The rest really doesn’t matter as far as the driving experience. Another key note is, it has been said AI5/HW5 will not be able to be transplanted into the current models I.e. you would not be able to upgrade in the new or old Model Y. Unless you don’t care about saving any money or just want the newest design, you should wait til HW5 comes out so you won’t be looking to trade in, in 12-24 months.
The subtle improvements shouldve been included at launch. Now theres actually notingvwrong with the MY, but notthing that sticks out. Its very very safe and adequate. Nothing outstanding. Sad that theres no competitors are better than this. Im still buying this. In canada.
Yeah, I’d love it to be powered but don’t believe it. So many more people would use the frunk if the open/closing mechanism wasn’t so crappy and you didn’t feel like you were going to dent your hood when closing it. Feels like the hood is made of tin foil
@@pierreblattner4527 But maybe if we repeat it enough, Tesla will understand what their customers want and add it? Lol, forgot who we are dealing with here.
The similar batteries / battery chemistry for the LR AWD dissapoints me.. An upgraded (chinese)battery would have been very welcome in terms of durability and cold resistance..
Glad I didn't buy Model 3 AWD/performance and waited. Really like the light bars and new exterior design. Front camera, hopefully quieter ride. Time to trade my 2014 Honda Accord Coupe. I just hope 400mipe range
Exterior and interior are improvements, but the prices are still very high compared to ICE vehicles with of similar size. The prime reason to buy a Tesla EV at the price is to get Tesla's latest tech as per the CT. If it is 4 year old tech, what is the point?? It should have 800V/48V electricals as a minimum. Apparently all models now come with casting front and rear. We expect IA4 hardware. But it should come with drive by wire steering and electric rather than hydraulic brakes. The CT has the cabin HVAC unit under the hood for a more spacious interior, but that did not happen.
@ Coming from a 2021 MYP it’s much much better. So I’m happy. Even knowing the Juniper was coming out. Saved a lot cash. Paying less than I was for my 2021 and tax credits for the last time.
I like the new look a lot more, just a shame ElMo has gone into politics incl. in EU. The Cd number should have 3 significant digits, in can be almost nothing or quite a lot with only 2 digits. 7.5% increased range is significant but can also be other improvements than aerodynamics.
All the Excitement I USE to have for this upgrade from my 202 DIED when they KILLED MY ROYAL-BLUE color option! So, now I have to wait for a 2026 upgrade, if its available!
i see no point for rear tablet. Every kid has its own and often what it makes is even bigger fight what to watch. Many of us dont need it at all, so in my opinion rather put it right in front of driver to see all information necessary.
Light bars front or back on any car are extremely annoying at night time, 😮 and a white interior I cannot believe anybody would have that, otherwise nice car 😊
The new version front look is better but it will probably have the same problem as the Cybertruck in cold region. Ice accumulates on the ligth band and you have to stop the car to remove the ice. Not very pleasant !!!!
In previous years, the Model Y has always cost about $5,000 more than the comparable Model 3 variant. If your budget is tight you might not want to get the most recent Model Y.
Make great videos however You might consider reducing or eliminating the phrase " with that being said". Though it is a Hallmark of your channel it takes away from your intelligence and the excellence of your videos for you to repeat that phrase multiple times in every video. You might consider eliminating it completely. Thanks for a Good video.
8 inch screen is such a bad idea . It can easily break by nasty passenger or a grumpy kid kicking . It should be behind the front seats or NOT there at all. But tesla doesn't care , they charge you arm & leg to replace it 6 month later . More money for tesla and customers can screw themselves. 😮 it's a good trap for money & a well cut corner .
New Model Y doesn't look good. It looks more Asian. The Headlights placed where the indicator lights should be. The headlights should be on the top just like expensive European exotic cars, which should have included multi LEDs or Laser lights to cover the whole front area, fill with light closeup and at distance, from side to side 210° covering a littlebit on the both sides. And put the fog lights underneath the light bar. Moving the license plate under the bumper and making back plain & round looks ugly. They didn't make it more roomier, comfortable seats, second dashboard behind the steering wheel, rotating center screen, handles & coat hooks, bird-eye view, etc. The door handles of Model Y & E were the worst handles in the auto industry, and needed to be changed. But they didn't changed them. The most important was to increase the milage range from 450 to 500 plus miles, which they didn't do it. Low voltage wiring change to 48 volts structures. High voltage battery system needed to change to 800 volts, with higher charging speed. Nothing has improved in this new Model Y. It's nothing but a total disappointment.
The ONLY thing that matters with a refresh is the battery capacity and how efficient the batteries will be. Instead of that, people are distracted by all sorts of other things. No mention of that in your video as well.

Model 3H vs Juniper? Thanks😍
When does the New Tesla ( SS) model come out..;)
Someone said the black Induction rims and tires are available for the redesign as well.
I wish they gave it a little bit more room inside
Upgrade? This will be my first Tesla. What is this 70 parts into 1 on the new Model Y? What 70 parts? They had front and rear giga castings, what's left? The sides? The body in one hit? How come no one is talking about this?
Touchscreen computer?
Absolutely hated the placement of the turn signal buttons on the X.
Ventilated seats! Ventilated seats!
Guess what I'm looking forward to?
Why does anyone need powered rear seat backs? How difficult is it to pull a knob or lever to pull down or raise the seat backs? No need for it to be powered. I would rather have 18” wheels, and would like to have a protective grill over the radiator below the front of the car. And why is there still no heads up display? Love the new ventilated seats and powered front trunk lid. I wish they were using the new CATL Shenxing Plus LFP batteries.
LOL, let me guess: and you want it 20k cheaper 🤪🤪🤣🤣
@@hermanstokbrood Did I say anything about the price? I live in Thailand and am looking to buy the refreshed Model Y in the next two years. The import tax will make it about $75k USD, but I don’t care because I have been all in on Tesla since April 2020. But thanks for your stoopid comment.
Manual rear seat back fold down is better, faster.
So add the loss of gains for spending $10,000 over 2 years,($1000) for a total of $11,000
Are the added features worth $11,000?
Range improvemet is disapointing to me and may be only in case of improved drag coefficient.
One correction:
The old Model Y also had 100% accustic glass
I like the old design I have the 2022 model Y performance black on black and my wife have the 2021 model 3 white on white
It’s gorgeous!!!
Better hardware, potentially better software, a sleeker look, better range (better efficiency)
I like the new design.
The subtle improvements shouldve been included at launch. Now theres actually notingvwrong with the MY, but notthing that sticks out. Its very very safe and adequate. Nothing outstanding. Sad that theres no competitors are better than this. Im still buying this. In canada.
I like it.
What official communication says "powered frunk"? Source?
no one, it is not powered!!!
@@jrmccarthyv "No one uses the frunk so we aren't going to make it powered and convenient to use" - Elon probably
I’m guessing he saw the “animation” on the Tesla page that shows it opening BUT that was just an anim not an actual motorized opening
S and y should have been done last year in 24 and y in 2023
I’m trading current for new. Reason: range, ride, noise insulation, vented seats, powered frunk.
Not a powered frunk!
4% range...
The similar batteries / battery chemistry for the LR AWD dissapoints me.. An upgraded (chinese)battery would have been very welcome in terms of durability and cold resistance..
I'll buy if the APR is attractive
Big improvement
How about Apple CarPlay?
Ew
Tesla needs to increase the range.
But I have a Model Y Performance that’s a 2025 😂 and isn’t a Juniper. Let’s remember that too.
I drove one. Noiser on the road then the new M3. Out of the question for me. Waiting on this new one.
@ Coming from a 2021 MYP it’s much much better. So I’m happy. Even knowing the Juniper was coming out. Saved a lot cash. Paying less than I was for my 2021 and tax credits for the last time.
No improvement to the turning circle which is currently horrible.
I like the new look a lot more, just a shame ElMo has gone into politics incl. in EU.
The Cd number should have 3 significant digits, in can be almost nothing or quite a lot with only 2 digits. 7.5% increased range is significant but can also be other improvements than aerodynamics.
I will admit the redesign of the Tesla Model Y is a bit less ugly 👺
it's going for almost $200,000 USD in my country now.. lolol
The front could be a new KIA, don’t you think?
All the Excitement I USE to have for this upgrade from my 202 DIED when they KILLED MY ROYAL-BLUE color option! So, now I have to wait for a 2026 upgrade, if its available!
Wrap it
i see no point for rear tablet.
Also, windshield wipers freezing up.
But Tesla tests for all weather conditions... they wouldn't make a mistake 🧑🎄 You must be using it wrong!!
@@TheLastMoccasin Oh ! Sorry! It's impossible for Tesla to make a mistake ! As you said I must be using it wrong !!!😉
@ 😁 That's what most of the Tesla/Elon apologist today sound like anyway lol
The only thing that matters is if it can drive itself.
Another day, another commercial for a company that is being beat down by BYD, Kia, Hyundai, others.
....and by Polestar 😊
The back of the vehicle looks like a big void. Seems like something is missing. A little curve would have been nice.
Go design it then Gen Z if you think you can do better.
Screen resolution? Where is proof. Front trunk not powered
In previous years, the Model Y has always cost about $5,000 more than the comparable Model 3 variant. If your budget is tight you might not want to get the most recent Model Y.
I'm excited for the new Telsa Model Y Juniper. I wish the front was a bit shorter, not by a lot. Seems hangs out more than needs to.
Certainly going to hurt sales during the transition....
DONT DO IT ... DONT MAKE A MISTAKE!
Not worth of upgrading from old model y to new one with the tweaks. I will stick to my model y for now.
I prefer my 2024 Tesla
Make great videos however You might consider reducing or eliminating the phrase " with that being said". Though it is a Hallmark of your channel it takes away from your intelligence and the excellence of your videos for you to repeat that phrase multiple times in every video. You might consider eliminating it completely. Thanks for a Good video.
Not really of a comparison for so little information on the US model.
So nothing new.
...but the price in Europe for 2025 MY LR will be 62 000 €, good luck with that pricing
The ONLY thing that matters with a refresh is the battery capacity and how efficient the batteries will be. Instead of that, people are distracted by all sorts of other things. No mention of that in your video as well.
Old model more American and I like, new model juniper Chinese car
Too little, too late.
Tesla used to lead , now they just copy . They add small items and leave off ALL of the latest tech improvements !
Frunk not auto close.
Elon und Tesla Fahrzeuge nein Danke....!!
Es lohn sich einen besseren e-Auto Hersteller als Tesla zu wählen...👍
2 reasons for me why I wouldn´t buy it:
1st.: I don´t like the interior/cockpit
2nd.: I don´t like Musk

As a newbie investor, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Ruth Ann Tsakonas is my trade analyst, she has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns..
I managed to grow a nest egg of around 120k to over a Million. I'm especially grateful to Adviser Ruth Ann Tsakonas, for her expertise and exposure to different areas of the market.
I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than $200k passively by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my finances remain secure.. So I really don't blame people who panic.
Without a doubt! Ruth Ann Tsakonas is a trader who goes above and beyond. she has an exceptional skill for analysing market movements and spotting profitable opportunities. Her strategies are meticulously crafted on thorough research and years of practical experience.
how would you recommend i enter the crypto market? I am also looking at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally.. What's your take on this approach? and How can i reach her, if you don't mind me asking??
I think your opinion is meaningless, you should let us make up our own minds.

It's minor facelift and Elon has gone down the rabbit hole of insanity ranting about far right wing political views. It's gotten so bad he's commenting on German, Uk and Canadian politics. I hope people stop buying Teslas. He's repulsive.
You don’t buy a car based on if you like the CEO of the company or not. That makes no sense.
@@Jonathantuba I vote with my wallet. He's not just the CEO, he's the biggest shareholder. And yes what you purchase is a vote. I don't support megalomaniacs ranting about extremist political views.
