My teen loved The Buried and the Bound. She said the quote on the mirror almost made her cry bc of the moment it's from in the book. So cute. I said though, why not at least make the stand a fun color!
So agree with your teen, The Buried and the Bound is such an amazing book! And right, a different color would have been better. The mirror could have been a really great item if it just wasn't for that stand 😭
Just opened my box, and welp - that was disappointing! I was able to read the book from my library, and while the beginning was pretty good, it got dull pretty quickly. Unfortunately, by the time I’d read it, it was too late to skip. I’m just going to sell the whole box and hope that I can recover the cost. The book is very pretty - no surprise there. But the items… oh my. I wonder what someone getting an OC box for the first time would think!
I’m honestly glad a lot of people seem to have the same reaction I did opening this box😭usually Owlcrate knocks it out of the park for me, and I’ve been enjoying most of their boxes more than Fairyloot’s and Illumicrate’s recently, but this box was just not it. The pen feels like it’s going to break the second I try to write with it, and as pretty as the actual mirror is, the stand is so ugly and cheap that I don’t want to use it😭the LOTR item is also way too situational I feel, honestly the only thing I really liked was the trivet. It was also the only item that really went well with the theme, everything else just seemed so chaotic😭overall, as pretty as the book and trivet are, I personally don’t think the box is worth the price

The mirror really could have been a great item if it weren't for the ugly cheap stand. And lol, you are so right about the pen! You said trivet right! Triv-et. That was pretty. I'm reading The Summer Queen right now. It has been good so far... The mirror itself is nice design but why make it so cheap? Drop the pen put the money towards a decent mirror! I've found a lot of OC pens tend to not have a lot of ink anyway... I think I like the original cover. The blues catch my eye. I won't get my book till Monday likely and I am interested to see it closely. My first time reading the author too. Feel better soon!
Oh yay! Glad I said it right 😅 I get self-conscious as I tend to pronounce words the way they are spelled and that is not necessarily how some words are pronounced. So happy to hear that The Summer Queen has been good so far, I am looking forward to reading it at some point. I'm planning on rereading The Buried and the Bound first as I need a refresher. And right? The pen could have totally been thrown out and they could have made the mirror better. Like it is such a cute design but a terrible base. Ugh 😮💨 Totally fair, the blues were very beautiful on the original cover. I do tend to like pink more so that may have skewed my opinion to the OC cover 😉 And thank you! @@nikkilovesbooks I do the same thing with words I don't use regularly. Sometimes, you have to go with what's written there and because English is so confusing, the rules don't always work to help figure out how to pronounce them! Been super busy the last several days so haven't gotten any further into the book, but I did learn that there will be a 3rd book to the series, so I hope OC publishes it too to make them all match! Still waiting for my May book, should be here soon though...

I was also very underwhelmed. I really wanted the book, but everything else was...not great. The Trivet was really the best thing...and that pen was so unbelievably cheap.
OMG the pen was AWFUL!!! The box would have been better without it to be honest. I have no use for a cheap ugly pen. It's so bad that I would be embarrassed to give it away for free 😬
I skipped this box because I already had this book on order with waterstones. it's a beautiful book that they put out. But it's not cohesive with the other books by this author. I would've loved the trivet though. 😊
