Literally been looking at buying an XLT with the 5.0 V8. Good timing for this upload! I test drove one last week and was impressed.
They are good trucks, the power behind it and you get a throaty exhaust, plus the updated tech and safety 👍🏻
I’ve been looking at some. Did you end up buying one?
I ordered a 2022 XLT with the V8. Can’t wait to get it.
Congratulations great trucks 👍🏻
Drove a 2.7 and a 5.0 back to back. No contest for me. 5.0 all the way!
I agree, that coyote V8 is awesome
Gotta love the 5.0L Coyote V8 in the F150, I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 160,000 miles on it and still going strong and it's a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla Exhaust as well.
Thanks for sharing
Traded my 2015 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 at 120K miles for a 2021 Ford F150 with the coyote engine, STX package, super crew cab, 4x4 drive train with 3:73 gear ration. The venerable hemi produced 395 horse power at the crank and had great acceleration, but not as much as my new F150. The Ram towed very pratically and was a very reliable truck--it just developed the awful hemi tick at 118K. My new F150 has 400 hp with the coyote but doesn't tow quite as well at low speeds as the Ram, has more nusianse aggressive braking applications when towing and is either ready to yank the tongue from the trailer or slowly engage the power. It does, however out performs my former Ram at interstate speeds, pulling hills and when hauling heavier cargo--could be the smaller displacement. My Ram would average 15.6 miles per gallon when towing my boat at 65 miles per hour, the F150 gets 17 to 18 based on the wind. The F150 has a noisy brake boost relay, windows vibrate on concrete interstate pavement (many Ford forums) and has a tendancy to skip second gear during casual driving. The transmission temperature gauage has a software issue ford is working on, because many of them fail to register the accurate temperature consistently. The gauges could be rearraged to improve visibility--I heard for is working on a heads up display. Ford and Ram are both reliable trucks, would buy either one again. Ford sold me more options than Ram for the price I was willing to negotiate. Took my F150 home to South Carolina, got some mud on the tires and did several 0-60 runs, that 5.0 animal is a beast.
Congratulations and thank you for all the information, I agree both are excellent trucks 👍🏻
I’m in a very similar situation a yr later, my 2014 ram developed hemi tick at 140000kms, trade it in and picked up a 22 xlt 5.0, loving the 10 spd so far
@@markwangontario7573 Gld you like the F150 - really like mine, just have to get use to the power.
Agreed 100% brother, I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 160,000 miles on it and still going strong and it's a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla Exhaust as well.
Definitely agree with turn signal sound
👌
5.0 Coyote Fx4 is the way to go! Good video. Less is Best!
Thank you 👍🏻
Thank you for watching today’s review let me know what you think in the comments.
My 2021 xlt 5.0 has 16kmiles so far so good. I have not noticed any oil consumption.
Thank you for your insight 👍
The Ford hands down!
They are nice
Love the chrome and V8.
The V8 is nice to see in Ford, great truck with a awesome exhaust note 👍🏻
Same here

Nice video and comments guys! I am saving up for a future F150 supercrew 6.5 bed in XLT and four wheel drive with 5.0 AND the Heavy Duty Payload Package! That gives me 3.73 gears abd about 2500 pounds payload. Just waiting till jext year for prices to drop by Dec next year. Also hope they offer 7kw hybrid version with 5.0 and with HDPP.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS and God Bless all of you
I reviewed a Tremor package this week maybe something you want to look into. The review will be up soon, it increase towing to over 10,000lbs adds almost 500lbs payload and increased hp plus torque. Have a great Holiday to everyone 👍🏻
I have a 2022 f150 with the 5.0, and I will say that it does have a quieter exhaust note than either a silverado/sierra or ram. Almost any aftermarket exhaust system will fix that right up, naturally.
Love the truck otherwise. Power is great, acceleration is awesome, it really does have a good amount of features, and I really like the interior styling.
They are awesome
Al fin alguien que hable de una camioneta de verdad: v8, y no de una juguera 2.7 o 3.6
Nothing like the coyote, V8
The one feature that ford lacks in the lower trim trucks .... 4x4 auto ..... Ram and Chevy have it in their lower trim specs! You need to upgrade all the way up to a Lariat trim in the F-150 to get 4x4 auto.
Great point
That belt driven oil pump scares the crap outta me.
One thing to keep in mind is these are wet belts that are cooled and lubricant by the engine oil so with services on time for oil change, this should last the life of the engine 👍
ordered 5.0 today single cab 8 foot bed 2 wheel drive max tow and 3.73 gears
Congratulations they are awesome with that coyote engine 👍
But they have the cylinders activation on 2021 and up u
yes 21 they do
I agree awesome truck!!! I bought the same truck yesterday 😎🍾🔥💎
Congratulations with your truck the V8 and upgrades inside and out are 👌👍🏻
I have a f150 5.0 with 3.73 rear end. And I’m getting 5.6-5.7 0-60 with 93 octane fuel. The 5.0 has 12:1 compression ratio. It likes higher octane. It’s a animal. As soon as tuning is available it will be even more of a monster.
It is an animal 👍🏻
I ordered the same package on a 2022 lariat. 5.0 with 3.73 cogs ⚙️ what is your gas mileage like?
@@gr7523 driving around town 15-16 on the highway 19-21. And I pull a big trailer so if you tow not very often you could probably see better city. MPG. and I’m running 93 octane fuel.
@@hunterkennedy2429 wow that’s not bad for towing a trailer and getting that gas mileage. Im excited for my F150 to arrive in March. Thanks for your reply
@@gr7523 when I tow I average around 12-13 in town. But when I’m empty it’s pretty good on fuel considering it’s a truck. I fill up once a week regardless on if I’m towing or driving. The 3.73 is the sweet spot for the 5.0. It doesn’t strain itself to get moving so that make the motor work less to get the load moving. It’s been a good reliable truck for me.
That will be the future truck for me to buy which is an XLT Hybrid as longest with safety driving like intelligent adaptive cruise with lane keeping assist! Ford F-150 Trucks that has the adaptive cruise control reminds me like a Subaru cars mainly!
They are great trucks and congratulations when you get it 👍🏻
@@HawkeyeRides Thanks!
the best version
I agree nothing like that coyote 👍
The 5.0 never left the truck. Against a 2.7 and 3.5 the 5.0 is the slowest to 60 mph,,, 70 mph even. The 5.0 never catches the 3.5. It is a fast motor really though. Faster than the Ram 5.7, it even comes close to the 6.2 in the Chevy pickups. Prior to Chevy getting the 10 speed, the 5.0 was faster than the 6.2 even. So it is a good performing motor with a torque band that’s a little too high. The 3.5 and especially 2.7 have such significant torque down low and in the case of the 2.7, it’s really free revving as well. All 3 powertrains are individually unique. The 5.0 “bringing back performance” to the trucks???? It sounds better is all. The performance was always there.
Great insight but I never said they didn’t have a V8 but I’m happy to see we have it. Just like you said ever engine is unique in it’s on way 👍🏻
@@HawkeyeRides - I made an assumption when you said the 5.0 is back. You probably meant, back in its new iteration. My bad.
No problem 👊🏻
The 5.0 is actually faster than the 2.7 in a 1/4 mile and ties with the 3.5, the current gen is much improved over the older V8. Carries more torque through the entire rev range and peak torque is lower in the revs than previous.
@@jamesm2464 it does catch the 2.7, but hasn’t kept up wth the 500lb ft of the 3.5,,,, not at 3000 ft above se level. Still not a race.
how do you option the column gear selector without front bench seat ?
XLT trim and under its Std
Nice I want it, put an aftermarket exhaust on it and raise some hell!
😁👍🏻
Loser.
Why not then just put a sticker on your truck that says you are a low-class, trashy bastard.
Borla Exhaust
Bought one, love it!
Congratulations they are great trucks 👍🏻
Currently drive a Tacoma been thinking about trading it for a f150 like this though not sure
The V8 coyote is awesome but it will not be the best performance or towing. It differently will be a upgraded as this is a larger truck and v8s are not going to be around forever however it does drink more gas than the Tacoma 👍🏻
@@HawkeyeRides thanks for the feedback yeah I’ll have to think about it since gas also sky rocket and insurance would be more also thanks Hawkeye rides!
@@elmerramirez1215 👍🏻
The 5.0 never went anywhere - it’s been available since 2011. Chrome is also timeless -painted bumpers scratch easily and just look cheap.
It’s not everyone fav but this was a full refresh year 👍
Folding the seats all the way flat is impossible on the XL and XLT Trim levels Ford doesn't offer that feature only on the platinum and I belive King Ranch trims
👍🏻
V8 never left
Never said it did, I stated I like that we still have them 👍🏻
The 5.0 has been in the 5.0 for years. What's so special about the 2021
I explained it in the video
More power
3.5 blows a hemi out of the water. Not talking bad. Buddy of mine thought it was funny when I challenged him to a race… he sold his truck a month later.
😂 good job showing him 👍🏻
Does it have cylinder deactivation
Yes the Coyote v8 does, it changes from 4 cylinder to 8 to help with fuel economy 👍🏻
Sweet truck!
Yes it is 👍🏻
Ford should put the Flat Plane GT350 engine in the F150 ! It’s a shame to let that Engine go to Waste!
That would be a awesome upgrade 👍🏻
The f150 would be a terrible application for the voodoo motor.. it’s made to rev high and have power in the upper in for road racing.. not pull weight and get a heavy truck moving.
@@Pricemanproductions a F150 regular cab on weighs 250-300 pounds more than a mustang GT l believe! It wouldn’t be for towing but for Going!
Chrome rules👍
👍🏻
Why do you keep saying the 5.0 is back in the Fords? It’s been in the truck since 2011 with the Gen 2 in 2018 and now the Gen 3 in 2021 lol
This is a redesign truck, yes I know the v8 is not however because its a all new truck, that is why I stressed it
Funny how we still use chrome on trucks and not on cars
Ford loves it 😁👍
How do you know when you are in the company of someone who drives a EcoBoost. Give up? They will make it a point to tell you all about it and how every other motor is inferior.
The V8 is my fav but with every company they have to make a more eco-friendly engine due to government regulations. Not saying the EcoBoost isn’t good 👍🏻
@@HawkeyeRides
Could not agree more. But truck and eco friendly do not belong in same sentence. Those that disagree should be in a Prius
I have to agree, trucks are not known for better fuel economy, even smaller trucks do not get the best MPG’s but it’s a truck. They need a good payload, towing and performance.
The 3.5 TT v6 will out tow the 5.0 any day of the week ...proven fact ! 400/500 ..the 3.5 is torque crazy , and we all know that torque pulls a trailer !
I just finished a review on the new Tremor Package and that was a great blend of power (3.5l 400hp) plus the extra towing (10,900lbs max) also extra payload (1885lb max). That EcoBoost does have great power 👍🏻
My 2.7 will blow the doors off your 5.0!
I don’t know if a tenth of a second is the speed of that 😁👍🏻
The ecoboost out performs the 5.0
I never said it didn’t 👍🏻
It may have more power and torque but, looking at the specs from Ford only properly equipped ecoboost outperforms the 5.0 for tow/haul. I don't care about the 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. I'm not buying a truck to go drag racing.
Great points but I did give full specs 👍🏻
Be careful does Chrome coming out in 3 years
Every year gets chrome
New v8 have the cylinder deactivation … not reliable for long term
That is correct but it doesn’t mean the V8 isn’t reliable. All engines if maintenance regularly should be good for a while. Maybe a seal or gasket may go out but for the most part engines are normally the last to have problems compared to A/C, transmission, suspension, etc 👍🏻
I believe someone will eventually figure out how to turn this off. In the meantime, driving in sport mode will keep it in all 8 cylinders.
Good point
I have an accord v6 3.5 with cylinder deactivation. 165k miles. Never had a single issue with the engine.
@@jmu2980 that’s awesome, thanks for the insight 👍🏻
Way too much chrome….get an XLT with the sport package that trades the tacky chrome for body colored bumpers and bits.
I agree with you, the chrome becomes older quicker 👍🏻
Weak v8. I would rather buy the 6.2 gm trucks. Ram are just plain cheap
It’s a nice alternative choice to Chevy and Ram 👍🏻
Must be a GM fanboy. 400 hp and 410 tq is pretty good. Not sure when those numbers started becoming weak.
@@scottadkins918 I have to agree anything 400 or more is a lot of power 👍🏻
AFM… no thanks
We have lots of choices in the truck world, nothing wrong with liking or not
Hideous
We all see things different 👍🏻
