    this was a little too close for comfort for me and why I never recommend people ski solo. I’m sure this wasn’t a big deal for most but I try to ski on the more conservative side.

      Yeah that looked sketchy to me lol. It is tricky that some resorts mark cliffs up high with a rope you need to duck, but others just mark the cliff right at the edge when you are already committed.

    Damn that’s scary man. Had it happen to me in the side country at steamboat like 15 years ago. It took about 5 patrollers like 3 hours to get us out of the situation. I learned how to repel that day. Thank god there was one bar of cell service. The first patroller rappel down to me. I said you’re not mad are you? He said fuck no I live for this shit! While we were trying to climb down a super sketch spot my buddy lost his skis while trying to hand them to me. Once we got off the cliff I gave one of my skis to my buddy. We one skied the rest of the way. The patrollers were like you guys can definitely ski, you just took a wrong turn a little early. Didn’t get to the base of the mountain until about 10pm. The next morning we went into the patrol room with about 10 cases of beer for those guys! A day I will never forget and a lesson learned. I’m sure they still remember that rescue because one patroller said it was the worst cliffed out situation he has ever been to at steamboat.
    Glad you got out of your situation on your own!!

    Was just there for 4 days last week. 3rd year in a row. super stoked (get it) for this episode and happy to see you shred Revy. there are quite a few bootpacks (you did the hardest one, subpeak and the lemming line right below it) but you can also hit southbowl and bootpack just passed the boundary line there's plenty of fresh snow. Cant wait to see what the rest of your days look like at revy. rly hoping u get some sunshine cuz the views when its not cloudy are absolutely unreal!

    At Alpental, our "Backcountry" (side-country) is very similar, & people not familiar with the hill can find themselves on a cliff very easily.
    Hope things w/ Luna get easily resolved, and the cool journey continues across Canada.

    Looks like you found the 3 bears cliff band, it does get tricky, and you tackled it the best way other then needing a parachute for this season we are half the snow pack as usual.

    Awesome vlog! Looks fun…but it’s still fun at Revy wo that much snow when locals are casually sending big on jumps. It’s also one of my fav mtns, w great fall line skiing, terrain and locals who can really rip. I think we all get caught back there at Ripper chair wondering if we’re gonna get stranded out there all night, skiing at the end of the day, close to when the chair shuts down…happened to me! Good job w skiing out of those hairy situations. Now I know why my ski instructor kept telling us to be safe out there skiing (after telling him of next trip to Big Sky and Revelstoke meanwhile skiing the entire DV and PC didn’t trigger that same response)! Prob better to get a guide going off piste so as not to run into any of that craziness but I think as skiers we do get into situations where we just have to ski it and hope for best bec there’s no other option. Can’t wait to see more! Keep up the good work

    12:26 that would of been a send to outerspace! What video fails to capture is just how scary it is to aggressively shred expert terrain you're totally unfamiliar with. Most good skiers can rip the difficult terrain at their home hill but put em on terrain they don't know and they look like a different skier.

  • @jaytabac6525
    @jaytabac6525 Рік тому

    Revelstoke is not for everyone. In the beginning when it first opened, it was cool, uncrowded and was fun to explore. After being there 5 or 6 times, the ownership has invested very little in the mountain. There is only 1 lift that takes you to the top and only 3 lifts in the entire resort. The mountain is severely under serviced regarding lifts, and there are very few places to warm up or eat unless you go almost all the way down to the base. If you are young, fit, and strong, and are a good slier, Revy can be fun. You will find yourself hiking or climbing to access the better terrain. There are really long traverses, cat tracks, or treacherous ski outs to return to the lifts. On a pow day, you will find yourself waiting in loooong lift lines to access the top of the mountain.

    careful with the solo riding in unknown territory that is that technical. could be a long time before you are rescued if something happens.

    During the whole moment getting yourself down the cliff, I could hear a broski and a valley girl yapping, we're people watching you or where was that coming from?

    This looks like the best conditions you have had on this trip. Those of us that live up here in the PNW know that you have to plan your days and go to the resorts with the best weather. Weather isn't everything, because any day on the slopes is better than a day in the office!

    Good content. Way too many commercials! Not sure if that’s a UA-cam/Google thing or not but the # and repetitiveness or the commercials are causing me look at other ski content.

      If there was an option to pay for a subscription that’s ad free, I would really consider it. I am 69 years old. Time is money to me, and sitting thru ads wastes too much of what limited time I have. And as I said, your content is good!
