Y’know, as someone who’s not particularly an Ed Sheeran fan, I don’t understand the stick this song gets - the lyrics do a really great job of reflecting the story of the game (and what I believe will also link into the upcoming DLC) while also keeping it as a commercially viable song so you can only applaud that tbh 🤷🏻♂️ And as you say, once you beat the game it really does hit *so* different lmao
Ed didn't originally write this for Pokemon. He wrote it for his current album Equals, but decided it didn't fit with the mood/tone of the other songs on the album, so he left it off. So, he was able to use it for this, now. ☺
I didn't know this, so it being in a game is even more baffling to me, like usually songs for games are written *for* said game so it just being a random song is a bit.. odd
