I play mostly the F1 ultimate gen 2 cars. And i have to say, atm its the best experience for F1 fans if you load the real skins and drivers in. I love to play this game in VR, its amazing

@tslater2005 Yes, VR is really fun in AMS 2, especially in the kart. The AI is still too hesitant when it comes to overtaking and follows the same overtaking attempt pattern every lap. I'll try it out later with the new version.
lol 1/50 cut tracks?! love it! Also, in my experience the AI is best experienced by always qualifying first. That was you're up against folks up to your speed from the get go, and you'll actually feel like you have to race, from the very beginning, including the first lap! Those instances where you can dive bomb half-way up the field in turn 1 will not happen - all your rivals will try to out break you. And you'll definitely feel like you're chasing, and being chased, and running away for dear life, right from the beginning. It's a treat!

I can highly recommend the GT1 class on AMS2 now. With the update, the cars feel so much more planted (but still on the edge of grip) and with the AI tweaks you can get some really good racing.
Reading the comment section on videos lately, people are getting very offended about games they play and others opinions! I respect your opinion on ams2 I’ve tried it I don’t like it, but that’s me personally, don’t let these negative comments affect your content mate! I enjoy it no matter what sim you play even if I’m not a fan of the sim it’s self!!!

Nice vid again. AMS2 is loads better than it was, but still has some limitations. Doesn't stop it being fun though. The retro F1 stuff is quality. I've just bought LMU and I'm very impressed with where that's at. It feels the natural successor to ACC
it's still a bit bit hit and miss in very few cases. they're definitely getting there though. I do think ams 2 suffers from conservative default setups which make the cars feel worse than they are sometimes.
I've heard that from real racers, too, about sims being too slidy on higher performance cars. People think that Raceroom feels fake because the cars have lots of grip. But, that's because most of us don't race real cars, and those that have experienced cars on a track have done so with low performance cars that are slidy. The other is people get caught up in the "tire model" and real-time "tire simulation". There is no way a home computer can calculate the real-time physics of every tire in the sim accurately. F1 simulators have a dedicated computer for each tire of the car and then a fifth one for suspension and everything else. That's with one car on a track and not A.I. or multicar racing. Realistic physics is super complicated. It's why DCS World and Raceroom model out every variable and behavior into the vehicle vs the modeled world. They have all kinds of stats for tires and aircraft to make it behave like the real thing without real-time calculations of how rubber reacts to the road or the air affect passing around a wing.
Totally agree mate, I've taken my old focus on track with road tyres and that's the limit of my experience in real world track driving. I don't get too caught up with what's real or not or what really. I want what's fun, what I enjoy, what feels good to drive and makes me feel like a good driver. I'm all about the enjoyment, the realism is secondary for me. If a real racing driver says that feels close to real then brilliant but I'll very likely never drive one of the cars I drive in these games 😀

Nice comment and interesting point about raceroom. If I remember correctly a couple years ago there was a raceroom update that came out where they said their tire model was “too similar to a road tire” and that was a big thing they changed to make it drive more like a racing slick. And some people didn’t like how it felt right after the change.

I could love a car on my setup and try it on someone else's and hate it. People will never agree. Whoever is at the top has still 3 tenths in T1, 2 and the last corner. Just had it a go, struggling in the slow corners for now, losing almost a second in T4 alone 😂...

Key is to think of the two bends as one corner and break late on the high line past the first bend so you can rotate the car quickly and accelerate through the second apex. Getting straight is key to avoid wheel spin on acceleration up the hill, which will often pitch you into the left-hand wall. But miss your breaking point and you either hit the wall or turn in too early and compromise the exit. I was top last Saturday and there was still more time to find. But I'm trying to avoid increasing tyre pressures until I have to. Trying to maximise the cornering speed is making me a better driver. Will try again this Sat.
Weirdly, earlier this afternoon and prior to watching your video, I was trying to beat James Baldwin’s best lap at Spa in the ‘time trial’ (in the McLaren GT3 with his set up as per his video). I’m still a second off his time but chipping away. I remember thinking to myself that the McLaren felt quite nice, and I’m not the biggest fan of the GT3s in AMS2. Reiza will get there though I’m sure. Anyway, there’s a challenge for you Rev. Would be good to see your name on that time trial leaderboard 😊
I enjoy AMS2. I do still find though that the cars are fast in the straits and still very slow still in turns. But it does have better traction. Looks nice too.
We need more camera, angles, TV, camera angles. Should be able to watch the corner from three different shots. This is where Race factor 2 accelerates, particularly at Sebring notwithstanding. And even AC Has more options for Cameras Rd., Atlanta, for example
Nice, might try a one hour multiclass later! I do wonder if the larger grids / traffic really aggravate typical issues early into slow corners for the AI - I find starting mid pack with difficulty high enough to have pressure from behind and having to work hard to clear cars in front creates good AI experiences in most sims.
That doesn't really effect my video. If you look at my channel you can see I have extensive experience on both 1.6 and 1.6.3.4, the difference is negligible. Very much so. The tiniest bit more grip? Maybe? Placebo? Who knows. Thanks for the comment.
If you are going to allow 50 track cuts for a 6-lap race, you could just turn off the detection ;) Also, not sure what the problem is with the steering from the rear? The holy grail of all race car set-up is to have a balanced package that you can steer with the throttle (or "from the rear" if I am understanding what you are describing).
Great video mate but I wish they would do a update where my gear shift will start to work again on AMS2 because before the 1.6 update it worked fine on this title.

I think the stock set ups in the GT3's hurt them as theyre set up to be really pointy. I usually add some more rear camber to get around it. But also... I don't think any sim is ultra realistic because I don't get the pants feeling and the noise and the pain 😂😂😂
@@AMSOZ-SS I also add camber to the rear and soften the rear anti roll bar a little to get rid of the pointy feeling as you say. Also if you get VR going and throw the car into a corner and hit the wall...your asshole clenches shut waiting for the car to hit the wall lol.
he absolutely has a bias towards LMU (and McLaren) and a reputation to protect.. not only that, but he downloads a setup from the TT boards and assumes it must be meta then proceeds to base his comments on how the car handles using that setup, including comments on how the car doesn't coast properly in corners and its been shown that the setup has maximum engine braking.. his 2nd video praising how fun AMS2 is was clearly an attempt to save face also, why would you make this video part of which is to assess AI changes in 1.6.3.4 and then use a custom AI file?
@mceVideos-v5z because it's my channel mate and the AI file makes things better and is right there open to everyone so they can enjoy it and improve their experience. Not to mention the fact that I like to promote the work done by the community for the community for free. If you don't like what I do then don't watch it mate but I'll be continuing to do what I do I'm afraid.
Get the start and finish process improved and a reliable flag system and it would be so much better. The racing is good, particularly LMP2’s but the overall experience is lacking in places.
I think that the vehicles still slide too much and I wonder why the AI is still able to return to the track immediately after a crash and continue driving at the same speed

Still my favourite game, but it would have to be ALOT better. GT3's have always been gash in AMS2. I think that's why it got so much of a hammering when people came over from ACC. I drive everything but in AMS2 and enjoy it.
@ReverendSimRacing His vid on LMU was interesting. Better, but still not enough weight in the cars. I don't think I'll bother with LMU. I'll slowly transition into AC Evo, as ACC still seems to be the outright winner for realism.

Are you using custom ffb or the default? Just fyi…I like you older videos better with not as many cut scenes to different views. I like the cockpit to trackside views, but all the rest are a little too disorienting

It still doesn’t feel right to me, it all still feels a bit too easy with epic front grip and playful rear. Fun for a while as it flatters my skill level but ultimately I want more sense of challenge and reward.
@ regardless of lap time I just can’t shift the feeling I’m able to push the car much harder and get away with stuff I wouldn’t be able to in other sims and definitely in real life. Just not the sim for me any more, but happy others are enjoying it.

Unfortunately, the AI in 1.6 didn't come close to the F1 games from Codemasters and was still too timid. Has this been fixed in 1.6.3.4? 🤩

Use SimHub’s Keyboard emulator to map the shifter to keyboard key presses then map those in AMS2.

I have zero experience on that one I'm afraid mate I've never had the AI in an online race 🤔 hopefully someone will have the answer.

I don't think I'll bother with LMU. I'll slowly transition into AC Evo, as ACC still seems to be the outright winner for realism.

@ReverendSimRacing thank u, I like the way u can see the right colum of the car, it give a lot of sense of space, but unfortunately, thr track becomes more "tiny" and the sense of speed, becomes more fast... Not comfortable... I'm usin 75 thinking in increase a little bit..

Who at Porsche decided that four little LED lights inside a round housing was a good idea? Ruins a classic shape and look that's synonymous with the brand. Fire that person, give us regular headlights back, please.

Anybody at overtake capable of doing better with the TV cameras on some tracks example Sebring and road, Atlanta. Using race factor 2 as an example.
Just look at some of the Cams on CamTool for AC, they are incredible!
I hate the fact that you can jump 5 to 10 places consistently in the first corner at every race start in this game...

They do, but not as much as pre 1.6 but it's still there in my view.
Are you using custom ffb or the default?
Just fyi…I like you older videos better with not as many cut scenes to different views. I like the cockpit to trackside views, but all the rest are a little too disorienting

It still doesn’t feel right to me, it all still feels a bit too easy with epic front grip and playful rear. Fun for a while as it flatters my skill level but ultimately I want more sense of challenge and reward.
Mate try Spa in a GT3 McLaren, that is a challenge and a half to do what those lads are doing time wise!
@ regardless of lap time I just can’t shift the feeling I’m able to push the car much harder and get away with stuff I wouldn’t be able to in other sims and definitely in real life. Just not the sim for me any more, but happy others are enjoying it.
