I was the biggest fan of Korea & learned a lot about their culture. When I saw him DANCE on the statue, I knew it was over for him. There's a difference between annoying the people and disrespecting serious parts of people's history. If he did that shit in Israel, he would've been on a death trial

The only time American Servicemen are handed over to America is if they are facing similar or more severe charges under the UCMJ.
      (A Court Martial)
I remember a recent case where they handed a serviceman over , and after arriving in the USA the serviceman's lawyer got the charges dropped on a technicality ....that did not go over well in Korea.
Under the current Status of Forces Agreement with Korea , American Servicemen convicted in Korea get a private cell (no cell mates) visits from the Chaplain and several other "perks" that other foreign prisoners do not get.

TW: History of Japanese war crimes in Korea.
Great commentary and review, you really covered everything nicely. This isn’t typically how Koreans deal with disrespectful tourists. This was a special circumstance because of the statue. Japan actively tried to erase their memory, denying everything, and then claiming these women chose to be prostitutes for payment. (What kidnapped 14 year old chooses to be a prostitute for the men who murdered their families?) Notice the statue is of a child, because they were children. So when people wanted to raise statues to remember these women, Japan fought it hard, screaming that it was an unforgivable disrespectful slap in the face. Every time people tried to publish any new stories, articles, or educate the public, Japan took major issue with it. It took 3 generations before the grandchildren of these women finally were like, no, we are not going to let you disappear and we’re not going to pretend it didn’t happen. So, Somali really took the brunt of all the rage and resentment Koreans feel toward Japan refusing to own the war crimes they committed in Korea.

"Japan fought it hard, screaming that it was an unforgivable disrespectful slap in the face."
You know, the unforgivable disrespectful slap in the face part might be the kidnapping and systematic rape part?
Japan's conduct on this just enranges me particularily as a German. Nevermind a Kraut past resident of Nanjing of all places.
It's unfathomable what better for everyone could have been if Japan had taken just another one out of our book and owned up, including in their defense in dealing with the common strategic threat against them from a past home country of mine.

Forgot to mention, South Korea is actually softest country in this far east region. I don’t understand how he got away from Japan, and wonder if he plan to try it on North Korea or China. Especially with that weed stuff, oh man, it’s really not good.
Also also, South Korea is already mad as society right now. Our economy is doing bad, politically speaking it’s really not good, I believe sports wasn’t that good neither. Government needs people to focus on something else, and people need someone to mad at. He chose seriously wrong time and the place.

He's a sociopath. While some can be successful (sociopathy is common in CEOs, surgeons, etc), many go from one short-sighted thrill to the next. Some are molded by trauma and some are genetically predisposed to just be like that.
