You know a movie is a masterpiece when it didn’t receive an amazing reception when it came out but years later people are still captivated by the movie
My guess is that the narrative with the middle east was very difficult to grasp, and still is. Back then, the situation over there for all sides wasn't as intuitive as it is now. There's a lot more mature eyes looking back at this now and appreciating the intensity and the message of the film. Brilliant stuff.
i think thats because jamie fox said if they say anything wrong theyll get in trouble so he decided to just not speak at all. like in the other part when they played football around the other reporter and ended up stacking sandbags in the rain for it lol
Kruger's a leftist of some sort and was explicitly forbidden from saying anything that would make the Corps look bad. Dude knows he's gonna get the shitstorm of a lifetime if he says what he's really thinking, so he's pointedly ignoring the question.
in the other scene jamie fox said if they dont say the right thing (lie and say how it isnt bullshit) theyll be punished. so he decided to not say anything at all

IIRC, the interview responses were improvised for the most part and Lucas Black (actor for Kruger) was uncomfortable because he preferred scripts
