@@A-BombEnergy If you focus on the auto industry alone, you'll have material until you're a senior citizen..lol. I have owned a long line of GM's in the past and it's only the past GM cars I would consider now. The price of these new plastic computers on wheels and the unreliability will keep me away indefinitely.
I plan on mainly staying with Auto Industry material. Although, I don't want to be the channels that pump out content to pump out content. If I have something important to say/share, I will but if I ever come off as a guy who makes content to make it, call me out on it so I can course correct. @@A-BombEnergy Well done video. I've been a mechanic for 39 years I still work on my own vehicles at home, but got out quite awhile ago because I saw the direction the industry was headed. I'm not a fan of Ev's I think they are an enviromental desaster in the making. As for modern ICEV's I'm also unimpressed Quality is going down while the price goes up. One thing that i don't like is the contined intergration of all electronic cicuitry. the more we tie all functions together the more complex it gets there by increasing the number of potential fail points. This has driven up repair costs, while ultimatly shorten service life. With the advent of AI the push toward the razers edge to cut material costs seem to be the goal, there used to always be a margin a bit of overbuilding to ensure reliability and longevity. I feel no simpathy for the auto industry their low sales are their own fault. GM is not alone in building garbbage Ford and Dodge are no better. I believe we need to go back a bit to simpler systems, servicable systems. People don't realize is they're not just buying transprtation their buying a disposable multifuctional media centre on wheels. Cars are roling smart phones. I also don't feel to sorry for the consumer they are like Smeagal attracked to the shiney precious. The end result in my opinion is we have not advanced at all we make change for the sake of change and call it advancement.
The fact that General Motors learned nothing from their partnership with Toyota in their Fremont factory is absolutely infuriating. They could have used their knowledge to improve long term reliability and quality control, but they instead chose to go down the same old route of penny pinching and planned obsolescence.
Sebastian, I think the only thing they learned was they are useless at producing quality cars for the everyday man and that Toyota will always beat them. Penny pinching is what brought on the ignition switch scandal. This company will never change unless something drastic happens. They should have never been saved in 08-09. What do you think? Save or no save? Any hope for GM in the future? 🫡-Brandon
What happened? I would love to know. I have heard this so many times and I am building a small database to figure out what has happened from the ground up. 🫡-Brandon
You are right, lets just stop buying from them. Thats a form of demanding. They are wrecking their own brands and I really believe we should stop helping them. Buy foreign and maybe they will change. What are your thoughts on that? Thanks for commenting Patrick, I hope you have a great weekend and recharge. -Brandon 🫡
I actually agree with Patrick I mean look at dodge they are going down. However I don’t agree with buying foreign cars because that ruins our economy. What needs to happen is we the people stop buying from them and go to another American company while in conjunction pressing hard for new laws that mandate these companies to build quality by hitting them with fines and testing. Then not allow any company to outsource while restricting foreign companies from buying land here to build their cars forcing us to have to outsource. Then finally hire the American at a decent wage through selling better products and selling to the whole world. This was the was it was supposed be but now it’s opposite and then we wonder why cars have problems when each part of the car is from multiple different countries because it’s cheaper to do. They make it then give it to a dealer to make money off of you by marking it up to the price it would be if it were made quality to begin with by Americans and actually boosting hard working people who actually deserve it unlike the spineless dealer who has no purpose being the middle man today other than a test drive in which most won’t do if it’s a top model 🤣. The issue isn’t with gm the issue is the way we as Americans do bussiness. Today nobody is interested in making the best product they are interested in making the cheapest product to pass as a good product just above the competition. That’s the problem with America. Once we used to do this right for instance the 60s and 70s but now it’s the opposite.
Yup that sounds about right, when American companies messed up, they blame other countries. Is US companies that went overseas that left American worker unemploy.

@effend446 That is nonsense. Automakers fought emission controls, anti-lock brakes, fuel economy standards for decades. But they were still able to finally start building better vehicles because the Germans and Japanese automakers proved that it could be done. The US automakers started pushing light trucks and SUVs because they were exempt from fuel economy standards. If they can build cars that can go 200 miles per hour, they can also build vehicles that get 50-60 mpg.
My first car was an 8 year old 1978 Camaro. My second car was a 1984 Buick Skyhawk with manual transmission. My third car was a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier RS sedan. My last GM was a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu. The problems I had with that car drove me to abandon GM entirely.
Nissan / Datsun turned me off for life after a death shake and a motor blow up at 75000, the Datsun 210 I had a 1979, had a shake so bad that at 75 mph would shake the car. The shake never got fixed, traded the car in, and never will buy nissan again, the car was less then 5 yrs when a shock tower failed, motor gave out at 8 years, well maintain as well
Remember the commercials for the Malibu when they brought it back in the 90's? "Chevy Malibu. The car you knew America could build". Yeah, GM, we already knew America could build crap under your corporate umbrella. (That being said, my dream car is, and always will be, a 1987 Buick GNX.)
This is so sad to hear because it sounded like you were a loyal GM customer. Those are also some really awesome rides and I’m slightly jealous because I’ve never driven them. Bought a brand new 2018 Chevy Trax. Was in shop constantly. Traded it for a new 2020 Equinox. Broke down first week of ownership and then again for same reason a year later. Hey Brandon, I’ve owned 4 sprinters over the past 10 years for work. They are exceptional vehicles. Parts are available on Amazon and local mechanics can handle maintenance with better prices than the Sprinter dealer. Fuel Economy is about 25MPG on the highway and about 20-21 MPG in town. That being said, I got an extended warranty with each of them because I had a Mercedes car that was flaky and very expensive to repair. There are not as many electronic gizmos on a Sprinter. It’s a pretty straightforward vehicle, and it is reliable. Thanks for your channel.
GM can’t build anything good outside of naturally aspirated V8s and V6s (also traditional automatic and manual transmissions). Which is Corvette, Camaro and some trucks. One of those (Camaro) they just recently killed off and blamed it on the market shrinking but not on their own failures. The 6th Gen was an amazing car. Anything else they build is always junk.
I have found a successful way to address GM, Ford, and Chryslers quality problems. I've been buying Toyotas since 1990 and have never experienced anything even approaching problems like this.

Travis, i’m thinking of doing a video on Toyota decline because it seems to be happening at a rapid pace. A friend of mine just bought a 2024 Tacoma and the engine seized after 500ish miles. Toyota replace the motor and then he ended up selling it right back to them.
Yeah, I used to be a rabid Toyota truck fan boy too. That all changed with the frame rot debacle and now the turbo V6 engine recall. They are barely better than GM and Ford now.
So true, I was a crazy teenager in 2006-2008 with my 93 MR2, I abused beat the crap outta that car, drove it hard and ran the oil dry numerous times. Never had a hiccup even at 220,000 miles when I sold it. Been driving them Toyotas since… f*** gm 🖕🏻

Ex GM service manager and technician here . After 30 + years of working at a GM dealership I left in 2011 for a different career . Most of what this video covers is true with a few errors . This video leaves out many other very common problems GM cars and trucks had/have on a regular basis . These are not cheap repairs and are often reoccurring in nature . I'm guessing here but I bet I have changed 5000 GM wheel bearing units . These complaints came into the shop everyday , all day long . We currently have 3 decent vehicles in the driveway and none of them are GM vehicles . Also , about the LS engine platform . LS and LT engines have been swapped into damn near everything on the planet that requires an engine . The first thing done to a swap engine is eliminate cylinder deactivation systems so it will be much more reliable .

Keep in mind most of these new features such as afm and dfm are only being done so the company can meet fed govt required efficiency rules. Evs on the other hand are not required to meet ANY efficiency, range, or maximum power consumption rules. From the 70s on up many of these engineering problems can be traced back to automakers scrambling to meet forced govt rules, many times before the technology was fully sorted out.
EVs ARE required to meet certain efficiencies so these companies get their carbon credits. Then they actually have to sell them. And we know how that’s going for all manufacturers right now.
Its still bullshit. They could meet the EPA mandate and build quality cars like Toyota if they wanted to. For whatever reason, they just won't do it. Corporate laziness and lack of accountability. If we had more than 3 major car manufacturers the quality would go up. In the early 20th century there were a t least a dozen major car manufacturers until they got taken over or merged with Ford, GM, and Chrysler. Even in the 70's we still had American Motors with the AMC Javelin, Pacer, and the god-awful Gremlin to keep them on their toes. If the technology isn't sorted out then abandon it or perfect it so that it works. Lack of competition produces laziness or a non-chalant don't give a fuck attitude, buy it anyway by these belligerent asshole companies.
I had 2 GM products. One was my first dream car, a 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS. It was a great cruiser and handled surprisingly well around corners despite the 25 year old suspension and has never left me stranded. It got t-boned on the passenger side on 10 May by a lifted cat-eye Silverado HD (GMT800). I was very lucky to walk away from that accident but the Impala was totaled. My old B-Body Impala protected me that day. My other GM product, is an 2008 Silverado HD (GMT900) gasser. I find it ironic that I own the successor to the Silverado HD that t-boned me. It has 170k miles on it and its been a great truck since I bought it in 2022. The reason main reason why I got the 2500HD instead of the 1500 was because the 1500s had AFM where as the 2500HDs did not. Imo, I feel that GM really went down hill when they discontinued their LS family of engines and their designs for their trucks and SUVs got horrendously ugly.
I have a 95 Impala SS. LS swap on the way. Last of the big cars. I don’t know who GM is taking advice from. Not their customers. They could have easily created a new rwd Impala based on the Cadillac platform. Killing the Camaro. The new blazer….another design lost in a sea of clones. Pickup trucks and SUVs that are unreliable, overpriced and complicated. I could go on.
Brother, I am sorry to hear about your dream car getting totaled but I am very happy that you walked away from that. Getting T-Boned is one of the most dangerous types of accidents because of the shearing forces that occur and can rupture you aorta. Back when I was doing my rotation with paramedics, I was always very concerned when we responded to those. You are a very lucky man. I am also happy you got a truck that isn't plagued with AFM. I don't know what they were thinking. I could understand doing it once because the good idea ferry popped up but after all the issues and they double down? Now its just foolishness. Oh, I love that power train combo!!! The 2.5L 2AR-FE Will not let you down as long as you change the oil every 5,000 miles. Also don’t hurt to do a top-end engine cleaner service every 15-20,000. soak the cylinders in top end engine cleaner for a few hours, then clear out all the fluid, change the oil and drive it hard to get all the dirt and carbon out (cleans off any gunk that would make your piston rings not hug the cylinder walls as much, which would increase oil consumption/burning). They’re a bit noisy when you start them cold but that’s normal. The 6 speed was the last transmission Toyota made that I trusted fully. The V6 engines had problems with the 6-speeds from torque converter shudder concerns, but as far as I’m aware that was little to no concern with the 4 cylinder. My 2012 Camry has the exact same engine and trans and after 176,000 miles it still runs strong. The only other thing I recommend is changing your transmission fluid every 50,000 miles, and make sure the fluid filter is changed out every 100,000 at the minimum (it is best to change it with the fluid in my opinion). Sorry for the long post, I’m a mechanic who strongly believes in this design and wants them to all last forever! Good luck and hope you travel many miles with your Camry!
The 2012-2014 four cylinder Camry had the torque converter shudder issue. I had a 2012 SE that was fixed on the recall somewhere in the 40k mile range back in 2016. @@cicadakidd
@@cicadakidd Thank you you too. I am getting the transmission fluid changed in around a month from now. do you recommend driving it a couple thousand kilometers after the fluid change and then getting it changed again? i say this because a lot of the old trans. fluid stays in the torqe converter when you do a fluid change.
@@brentkiely657 it depends on how dark the fluid is. If it’s burnt and black I’d let it go, otherwise your transmission will slip if you flush all the old fluid out (the metal in the burned fluid at that point acts as a friction material and helps the transmission shift). If it’s a very dark color (brown or deep dark red) I’d do that. I actually just did my own transmission, changed it three times because I’m a nut case 🤪started with just fluid then for the final change I also did the transmission fluid filter. If you want to see the fluid for yourself you can ask them to take a sample (about a pint) and look at it that way.
I bet that car will last you forever. How was owning the Pontiac? Good car? When I was a kid we had a Pontiac and it lasted 300,000 miles and the transmission gave out when we were in Germany (dad was Army). He then bought a BMW and still owns it, 20 years later it is still kicking. I am thinking of getting a Toyota. Assuming you recommend? I look forward to hearing from you my friend. -Brandon 🫡
The best GM cars are the 70 Chevelle SS 454, 66-67 Pontiac GTO, 66-67 Pontiac Lemans, 66-67 Pontiac Tempest, 69 GTO Judge, 64-72 Chevrolet Elcamino, The Tri 5 Chevy Belairs (55,56,and 57) 70 Oldsmobile 442, 70 Buick GSX Stage 1 455, 70-81 Camaro and Firebird, 66-69 Beaumont SD, 66-67 Acadian Canso SD, 68-70 Acadian SS, 68-73 Chevy Nova, 65-70 Chevrolet Biscane, Belair, and Impala, and the old Square Body C10 trucks.
CJ it’s good to see you. Thanks for being so active within the comment section here. UA-cam actually told me that I have given you the most heart comments lol 😂. As for those cars, I would absolutely love to own one of them. Out of all of those which are your favorite? And why? Thanks again CJ and I hope you have a great Sunday. -Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy Its a really hard choice but if I to choose it would be the 70 Chevelle SS 454 cause I consider it the King of the Muscle cars and plus it just looks badass as well.
The “boomer “exploding gM square body pickup was just plain dangerous due to the gas tank location plus being thin skinned and lame-popular now because no one knows or remembers, shame on gM
Hey brother, good to see you again. Totally agree with your sentiment. I honestly have NO idea how they are still in business (well I have a clue but people tend to get upset when you point that out, but I know you know what I am talking about lol). -Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy Theyre in business because of corporate welfare. The biggest welfare queen recipients of socialist handouts in American history are the corporations. The GM story is one of my favourite examples to use when I point out to anyone who still honestly believes we live in "a free market democracy" just how wrong they are. The US government would make 100 million regular Americans homeless just to tax them to save one billionaire from being reduced to so much as a middle class lifestyle via their own failures.
Hey brother, glad to see you so active on the channel and thank you for the kind words. New video will be released tomorrow...its another one on Ford and its going to shock some people. I have yet to see a video on the subject and believe me...I looked. I can't believe it will be the first of its kind. Look forward to future conversations with you my friend. -Brandon
Big reason why stopped buying North American vehicles, GM isn’t alone. Once was a loyal Pontiac customer now I’ve switched to Subaru and do not regret one bit
Andrew, I’m glad to hear you have switched to a brand that is right for you. Have you come across people that just that inherent loyalty to a brand and yet they keep getting rinsed by them? What Subaru do you have?
What did you think brother? I would love to chat with you sometime about GM. You can always hit me up on here or IG. You guys are incredible people and have put up with a lot. -Brandon
the first thing I noticed from day 1 was the complete lack of absolutely anything from GM that a new tech under a new nameplate would expect. For example my first few days at Chrysler(dealer tech) consisted of what I would call corporate orientation and basic training via video lessons. I also spent some time with Nissan and it was the only Nissan/Infiniti dealer in the area. I went thru a very similar orientation process and was made to feel welcome, at least from a corporate sense. I even received a few calls from Japan concerning warranty items and spoke directly with a field engineer. On the other hand GM didn’t require me to do anything. Not even a welcome email. Overall from day one I never felt like I was part of the big 3 @ GM. Again always working as a tech…. Not long ago my manager requested a field engineer to come look at an issue with a ‘22 2500 duramax. He even called to confirm but then decided not to come and told us our case wasn’t a priority…. Ok I guess but this is after several years and 4 GM dealers I felt this way every single place. Never once with GM was I able to get a true engineers response to my questions and I genuinely feel like some of my questions were not only valid but REQUIRED given my licenses and certifications. Honestly if I didn’t raise alarm to certain items I may have violated some sort of law. I try to do everything to the best of my ability never guess and always do the job by the book. I have always filed several complaints thru a whistleblower organization who claimed to work with GM. Never got a response back. Not long ago GM issued a side curtain airbag recall for the Silverado. This requires a tech to download an app to submit serial number and process the recall. Ok fine. But like you should I read the “privacy policy terms and conditions” before I downloaded it. It was explicitly stated that a data broker was going to track all my stuff and sell it. But at the bottom of the page gave a number to call GM for questions. I called and was told basically nobody knows and that’s just how it works. Situations like this and many more have left a disgusting taste in my mouth for GM… but honestly nowadays given the politics involved around the auto industry I am very upset with all 3.
Hahaha I love it. Maybe they know you secretly want a Chevy Cruze...you can admit it. I will be your car sprit guide and we will get you in one. Then I will be your mechanic spirit guide and we will fix it together 🤣. Only kidding with ya, thanks for commenting brother, hope you have a great night. 🫡-Brandon
My parents 1979 Z-28 had it’s camshaft lobes wear off at 15K as GM never hardened them. GM initially took no responsibility like they usually do, but later lost a class action suit and paid for the camshaft replacement, but would not pay for the needed lifters, since they were only found libel for the defective camshaft. Typically scumbag move. No one in my family ever bought a GM car again. 44 years of lost sales!
I’m sorry to hear about this rinsing they gave you guys. But it’s their loss in the end. They never think of the Lifetime Value (LTV) of customers. If I ever ran my business after their model, I would be done. Relationships are everything, it’s why I do everything in my power to talk to every commenter with an actual reply. Since they lost 40+ years of business, where have you guys gone to? Ford? Asian? Thanks for commenting brother, have a great Sunday. -Brandon
Lol could you imagine running a business, it fails, then you get money from the big daddy? That's wrong on so many levels lol. My business would never get bailed out and nor would I want it to be bailed out. -Brandon
Sorry for my second post but it’s important. My dad had a new 84 Buick sky something looked kinda like the Camaro style front end at the time. Endless problems with the radio and power antenna. The antenna radio would blow fuses constantly. Finally my dad cut the wire to the power antenna. Bumper to bumper warranty was worthless. One time my dad was driving to work and the little spring on the side of the seat popped out and his seat fell back and he was laying back looking at the ceiling of his car going down the highway. He had back surgery before that. He had to pull himself up by the steering wheel. This was driving on the freeway. The front tie rods broke two times thank goodness not on the highway. Then my dad bought Toyota but then that 88 Camry had a faulty fuel pump that Toyota fought him on. It would crawl stop and would not go when stepping on the gas. It was hit or miss but especially dangerous at intersections. When that fuel pump was replaced that 88 Camry was flawless. From that point on it was Toyota only for him. My dad and my brother told GM but the responses were not good. This was all from 1984-1988. My dad was a quality control engineer that made computers for trident submarines. Sperry Univac .These companies could not fool him with corporate talk. He was so let down because he wanted to buy American vehicles. He felt betrayed by GM. From that point on it was Toyota for him. He never trusted GM again
Brother, don't apologize for commenting. You can comment as much as you want, I love hearing these stories and know others do too. I am really sorry to hear about the struggles your dad has had and that GM basically turned their back on him. He strikes me as a smart guy and moving to Toyota basically proves that. What do you think of Toyota?
Barra was head of engineering prior to becoming CEO (due to DEI I'm sure). She claimed ignorance on the ignition switch fiasco claiming that there are so many parts on a car that she couldn't know all of them. Look at her salary and bonuses if you want your blood to boil. The newest gm i would ever buy is early 2000s and anticipate upgrading the deficiencies out of it.
Dude, the more I looked into the ignition switch scandal, the more angry I got. I don't get angry often because that just means you lack impulse control but holy cow, my blood was boiling when I was reading the reports. I had to just stop. Barra has to be the most unfit CEO. I might actually do a video on her specifically. I am still thinking about it. Thanks for the comment my friend, I look forward to our future conversations. 🫡-Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy Glad to be able to add something useful. An expose' of Barra would be great. I bet you'll find a lot of ties to DC. I personally know a guy who was simply merging on a LA freeway a few years ago in a Chevy HHR (similar to the PT Cruiser) when he lost control and hit a retaining wall. Not bad weather either. He is a not a new driver. I told him about the ignition switch scandal back then, but it never went anywhere..
I hope he was okay after the accident, its a shame when I hear situations like this. HHR was cool looking IMO but what a silly car lol. Too bad he didn't look into it, he probably could have gotten a settlement. I think they sent like 350 million out? 🫡-Brandon
Chrysler has the same problem with there 5.7 hemi. They call it MDS (Multiple Displacement System) that deactivates cylinders. The lifters also collapse because of it. Otherwise the Hemi and LS would be bulletproof without these systems.
Yeah its wild why they do this. And for what? 1 or 2 mpg? If that. I have seen guys do tests where they get worse fuel economy because the engine is having to work harder and rev higher. I have a Ram Rebel and thank heavens I don't have that garbage in it. What do you usually suggest people buy? 2500 models? Thanks for commenting brother, I hope you have a great weekend and recharge. -Brandon 🫡
You can’t go wrong with those companies at all brother. While I don’t buy them, I totally respect the heck out of those companies and people who buy them. What do you own right now? -Brandon
I wasn't old enough to understand what was happening when GM got bailed out. Had I been, I would have lost all respect when they begged the government for money while cutting thousands of jobs, shipping them off overseas, and showing up to DC in private jets. They should have gone bankrupt, their entire management had been dumped, and the company restructured by people who are actually competent. They made shit cars then, they make even shittier cars now, or should I say trucks and SUV's here in the states. I would never buy or recommend one of their products to anyone. Every single GM car I've been in has either had premature repairs needed or been a total piece of garbage, even when maintained well. Their management sucks, their CEO is a clown, and if they go bankrupt again, I hope they don't get a dime of taxpayer money. Especially when they gave their management millions on bonuses the last time.
@CJColvin they were no better. In they the 50s and 60s, they skirted safety intentionally, and in the 70s, they made lazy and pathetic, "things" with big pathetic engines and barley contributed to safety
@@CJColvin as much as like a good Charger or Mustang, they've always been lazy. They have an incredibly simple recipe: big v8 motor, "big" power, RWD, genuinely bad handling (except for the mustang) and now, discontinuing them or making them an EV. (Also except for the Mustang)
Everything post 2008 focuses on fuel economy over reliability, and this video correctly points out that ultimately that's worse for the environment when you cut the vehicle's lifespan in half. This isn't just a GM issue.
Thank you for recognizing one of the points in this video. I have a friend who is a big environmental guy and he only seems to focus on whats coming out of the tailpipe and not what goes into the ground, which is WAY worse. If I remember from 3rd grade science class, trees like CO2...Idk, I am not a scientist lol. Thanks for commenting my friend, hope you have a great 4th of July Weekend. -Brandon
This reminds me of the Ford/Firestone Tire debacle of 2000-2203 involving the 1991-2001 Ford Explorer with the ATX ATX and wilderness ties. This debacle claimed almost 300 people.
NICE brother! What are those cars if you don't mind me asking? I rebuild cars from time to time and the subject is fascinating to me. Any suggestions for a van/truck that could haul a trailer or a few pallets of energy drinks? Looking at the Sprinter...bad choice? I have heard good things but would love to hear your take. Thanks for commenting brother, I hope you have a great weekend and recharge. -Brandon 🫡
@A-BombEnergy I would not want anything to do with a Sprinter van. The B-series van before them was much more reliable and simple; but getting too old now. If you need a delivery van, anything built from the Chevrolet Express van line from around 1996-early 2000's with an LQ4 6.0 gas or 5.7 L31 Vortec 350 would be the reliable choice. The dual wheeled box trucks are nice to work in with standing room. Lift gates are great, too.
@A-BombEnergy I currently am currently working with an 85 K30, SM465 and NP205, D60 front, 14b rear; 4.0, and 5.2 Jeep Grand Cherokee's and a Honda Super Cub 125. Square bodies, Grand Cherokee's, and Super Cubs will be around forever. Aftermarket already supplies parts for square bodies for over 30 years now, and cherokee production continued overseas; tons of new oem parts are available. Just sold a clean 64 IH Loadstar 1800 with Perkins T6.354; very unique truck. Too big, no use for it.
I'm not excusing GM, but drivers have known for 40 years that hanging 6 pounds of keys from your ignition is bad practice. Get rid of the weight, and the ignitiin is no longer "faulty". As for the Chevy Shake, which I have never experienced on my 2010 Silverado with 265k miles, it is nothing compared to Ford and Dodge death wobble, and far less common. Also, its not just GM pulling back from EVs... the entire industry is realizing that EVs are more trouble than they are worth.
Matt, thanks for the comment brother and I am glad you didn't have to deal with the chevy shake. Its so wild of a situation, its literally like a Gremlin has attached itself to certain models and its pure luck which ones get and which ones don't. I have to admit, researching it for answers proved to be pointless because nobody knows! So wild. Did you see Mercedes is pulling back on their EV's too? They were going hard and now are like....nahhhh we are good lol 😂 -Brandon
Thanks again for the kind words, I will never stop making content for you guys. Hands down the best community. If you have any suggestions, fire away my brother. -Brandon
Thanks brother! I did one video on jeep but I plan on doing an all encompassing video on Chrysler in the near future. Anything in particular that speaks to you about them?
Great video. So many auto manufacturers seem to have lost their way these days as there seems to be a huge gulf between what the customer wants and what the manufacturer provides. What most people want is a simple uncomplicated vehicle that will get them from A to B. What the manufacturers provide is hugely expensive, heavy, overcomplicated and frequently unreliable wheeled computers.
Brother, thank you for the compliment. Sadly I think almost all manufacturers are this way, even Toyota and Honda are starting to lose their way and are beginning to make rolling iPhones. Heck, I just bought a base model 2024 VW Jetta 6spd manual for my business. The amount of tech in it is ridiculous. While I love that car, it has too much tech. What brand do you think is performing the best right now and people should gravitate to? -Brandon
Crazy isn’t it? What’s even more wild is I could continue pumping information out, especially with GM. I think I cut out about half the research I did from the final product. Any suggestions on what you would like to see in the future? -Brandon
Will do Mason, I appreciate the motivation. There is just so much to tell and I feel like people aren't aware of it. Heck, some of the stuff I included in the video I didn't know about. I found it from research. Hope to see you in future comments my friend. 🫡-Brandon
My grandfather had a 1961 Chevy Apache truck, words cannot begin to describe the build quality difference in that truck and current G. M products. It's like it came from a different planet. Wow it was so incredibly well built compared to today's trucks, night and day difference, it is honestly heartbreaking how far general motor says fallen.
Your grandfather had a really good truck and yes, its very sad to see the degradation of build quality. What frustrates me more is that I KNOW we can do better. Thanks for commenting my friend, hope you have a great 4th of July Weekend. -Brandon
Brother, you bring up solid points there and the only thing I can say is that I don’t think they own the stock anymore. However, I see your point and pretty much agree with you. Do you want BYD here?
Sean, didn't Toyota make a few of Saturns engines? I am no expert, I just remember a few Saturns having them and one of my first cars was a Saturn and it had a Toyota engine in it. I just always had thought some dude put it in but apparently is was OEM. Toyota really does make the best. Is that what you own now? -Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy I didn't know about the Saturns. I had a Pontiac Vibe, which had the drivetrain of a Toyota Matrix and shared many, many parts with it. Good car. Rusted out before the engine and transmission could go. But the 1zzfe was pretty much bulletproof. Currently own a Corolla, also with the 1zzfe (9th gen.) Can't kill it! It'll rust out too.
This seems to be the case with most people actually. Same with the auto shut off too. My Jeep and BMW has that and when I turn it off, I get 2mpg better. I think its just a way so they don't have to pay extra fee for fuel ratings...either way, I can't stand it lol. 🫡-Brandon
Haha you like that? I edit films professionally as a side thing while I am still on active duty and they are usually films of dramatic nature. I can't shake the genre lol. I also cant be one of those guys who plays the goofy music 🤣 nothing wrong with those videos, in fact they have great info but its not me. I hope you enjoyed the video brother. -Brandon
They are for sure on this. They have done some wild stuff here recently and their CEO's activity is shocking, especially with his comments on EV's. They clang when he walks lol. Thanks for commenting brother, I hope you have a great weekend and recharge. -Brandon 🫡
Joe, are you referring to the malaise period? There is a lot that happened in 1972 that will shock you...not just with cars. Thanks for commenting Joe, I hope you have a great 4th of July Weekend. -Brandon
What’s crazy is normally I would say that you shouldn’t broad stroke this type of statement, but in this case, you are 100% correct. I have yet to meet a single person who is down with the AFM and auto start stop. Do any of your cars have this? Thanks for commenting brother and I hope you have a great day. -Brandon
Thank you for going into detail about GMs notorious miss alignment steering wheel shaking. Also known as “Death Wobble”. This flaw has been happening for years with Jeep wrangler models.
Of course, brother, it was my pleasure to bring it to light. I am very familiar with the jeep death wobble. My TJ currently has that right now. I think it needs a new bar. Have you heard of any other solutions to fix it? Thanks for commenting. I hope you have a great Sunday.
This world is spiraling deep into pride and other sin, it's concerning. My dad was just in a new ram work truck at work and the engine blew up, 2nd one so far at the company he works at. It's insanity!
I totally agree with your statement my friend. One of the reasons why I make these videos. It’s ALL connected and I’m so grateful you understand that and see the big picture. Also, the fact that your dad is having to put up with those ram trucks is insane. Do you know what kind of motors they had? I’d imagine it wasn’t the 5.7…but the 3.6. As always, thanks for commenting. Your support and kind words are not unnoticed. -Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy no clue on the engine as of now, but he had a ford f250 from work recently that just needed bearing work but seems to run good. But he rides down there in his personal truck again (Chevy 1 ton) without issue, sad to see a pile existing in a summer working environment.

I feel bad for my fellow Chevy/gmc owners. I’ve had nothing but good vehicles. I currently have a 2001 s10 with over 300k miles , 2010 Malibu with 200k (new motor and transmission recently installed), a 2006 Silverado with 250k original miles, 2016 Silverado with 123k miles, and a 2020 Tahoe with 40k miles. Only car that has given me the most problems was my Malibu but this was recently. Overall I’m saddened to hear that. I more than likely will be buying a Toyota vehicle next
Yep, I bought a new RAV4 over using my GM discount on a new Equinox. I love the RAV over the previous gen Equinox and the new one coming out (it’s the same car/platform). GM can’t build anything good outside of naturally aspirated V8s and V6s (also traditional automatic and manual transmissions). Anything else they build is always junk. Basically Corvette and Camaro. Then they killed the Camaro in December because upper management is incompetent.
If you go on a road trip you know 2000 miles check the oil level often if you have the 5.3L with the V8-V4 thing. Check the oil level. Put in that plug in deal that keeps it in V8 all the time.
Brother, you are also probably a really good vehicle owner. I think half the battle with owning a car is simply maintaining to a level that the manufacturer doesn't want you to maintain it at. i.e., 10k oil recommendations, where most people do 5k. Sorry to hear about the issues you have had with your Malibu, that probably wasn't a fun process. I had a similar situation with my Charger back when I first bought it. Thanks for commenting brother, if you have any future content suggestions, I am all ears my friend. I look forward to hearing from you. -Brandon 🫡
Man brother you have a sweet corvette but I’m sorry your Malibu has been an issue for you. What kind of problems have you had? Engine? Electrical? -Brandon
It is mysterious to me why anyone buys a GM especially if they’ve ever owned one. I had a Bravada. $36,000 car which with a lot of money in its day. When pulling out of the dealers lot after purchasing the car, the window fell down inside the door and the center console fell over the dealership screwed new holes in the center console since all the screws from the factory had cracked the housing because they were screwed too hard. The dealership said we pulled out too fast and that’s why the window fell down inside the door. After all of the writing faded off all of the interior buttons, the black trim turned white, and the car was at 42,000 miles, there was a recall to the oil mount because they had not been properly hardened. the dealer under a recall replaced the oil mount and it fell off on the highway making the engines almost immediately seize. GM said we weren’t driving the car right and they would not cover the damage. I was left with a 42,000 mile car that was a doorstop. If you have a complaint about your GM that’s your problem. If you buy another GM, you can’t be too smart.
Brother, I am sorry to hear about all these issues you’ve had with your car. That is absolutely insane you had to put up with that. Did you ever end up selling the car and getting something new? I hope that you got at least something for it and it wasn’t a massive financial loss. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It’s always good to get these kinds of stories out there. Do you think there’s any hope for GM at this point?
this video made me realize everything. im only 21 with 3 gm vehicles & i love em. first car was a disaster but my 2nd & my 3rd (current one) were & still great. Regular maintenance & it rides nice. Price point tho is expensive.
Daniel, I am glad I was able to help you out here. GM still does know how to make decent cars but they flop on so many. I also think that to keep a car running, a lot is on the owner and not so much the engineering. It sounds to me like you are a stellar owner and that's why your 2nd and 3rd are running well. What are the 3 GM's you own? Your first one may have been just poorly engineered or a bad stroke of luck. Thanks for commenting Daniel, I look forward to hearing from you brother. -Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy first one was unfortunately the hhr & the 2nd was a 16 silverado 1500 ltz & my current one is a 23 silverado high country. it’s nice but it’s so expensive & honestly , the quality fit it being a 70k + truck , i don’t know.
Dang you had the HHR? That must have been interesting...to say the least lol. Wow, the high country is 70k+!!??? I am in shock honestly. I wish it were better quality for you. What sold me to foreign brands like BMW and VW was the interior quality. My Jeep and Ram Rebel are more expensive than both of the German cars and the interior is garbage compared to my German cars. AND most importantly, they are more reliable. I always thought German cars were horrible but my friend who is master tech for BMW said "the trick is to follow the maintenance schedule." Thanks for responding Daniel, I really appreciate it brother. -Brandon
Hopefully nobody will care about them and they will just fade away. Doubtful right now though...certain pots of money are flowing to them. If you know what I mean. 🫡-Brandon
I worked for a GM dealership in the past and have purchased 11 GM cars and trucks in the last 15 years. I have to say this video is well made and very accurate. In my opinion, GM peaked in the early 2000’s. 2006ish was the start of the decline. I currently own a 2003 Silverado, 2013 Yukon and 2023 Silverado. The 2003 rides a little stiffer but it is the most reliable.
Brett, thank you for the compliments, it means a lot coming from someone with such experience. What was the worst GM vehicle you worked on? I bet its nice driving a product you could fix in a heartbeat because you have probably seen about everything at this point. -Brandon
You’re very welcome! Worst GM vehicles to work on in my day were the Northstar V8 Cadillacs and Buicks. So many issues that required major labor to repair.
I have a 1998 GMC with 221,000+ miles and while it hasn't left me walking it suffered from the well known intake manifold gasket failure that GM never admitted was a problem. Had a 2006 Corvette it was purchased used with 50,000+ miles and it was always needing something so I bought a brand new 2019 Corvette when they were clearing them out. It was my dream car that turned out to be a huge disappointment. Fortunately I got the 7spd manual trans and only used the ECO mode a little until I learned about the problem with cylinder deactivation, the autos would put it into that mode automatically and it was tearing up engines. The dealer experience was beyond disappointing so after a year I sold it. I'll never buy another GM product. They need to get rid of Mary Bara and split up her 29 million dollar pay package among the UAW people that actually try to do something to produce a good product. My 2006 ACURA TSX has been rock solid and my other car is a 2008 Porsche Cayman to drive just for fun. The build quality on both is way better than anything from the "Big 3" which seem to only produce crap but people keep buying it so why not? Keeps the shareholders happy.
Wow, those bad boys have some serious miles on it. I am sorry you had some issues with them though, I know what that is like and its a shame it happens and in the end we end up paying for it. Thats just bad business. I am also sorry to hear your dream car ended up being a nightmare. A C7 Corvette was going to be my next purchase but I can't support a brand that doesn't care a lick about their customers and is sabotaging their best motor. Barra has got to be the most disappointing CEO out there in my opinion. After reading up on her and learning more about her actions, I might actually do a series on the worst CEOs in the car industry. I think she might be #1. I am glad that your other rides are treating you well, Porsche is such a cool brand and if you can do your own work, they can be great cars. -Brandon
Wow, I am really happy to hear you didn't have any issues. It broke my heart researching in depth about the ignition switch scandal. I don't know how those people sleep at night. I was going to include a really long part about the ignition switch but I was too upset. Really happy you are okay and weren't affected by it. Have a great weekend brother man. -Brandon
A lot of smart people tend to be in this camp and I don't blame them. When I was in Africa, I used to see old beat up Toyotas and Lexus's with heavy firepower mounted on top of them. We never used Humvees or JLTV's there too, we always used a Land Cruiser, Hilux, or 70 series models. I never changed the oil once and I doubt the team before me changed the oil lol...Thanks for commenting brother, I hope you have a great weekend and recharge. -Brandon 🫡
GM sure can’t get their paint to stick beyond 3 years. They’ve had this problem since 2012. So the fact there are other more glaring issues just highlights the issue of profit over quality. Aka Boeing, Ford, GM…
Funny you mention Boeing…I plan on doing a video of the airline industry. I know it’s off segment but is it really? What would you think of that? Also, I think the paint issues stem from aluminum body panels right? Jeep has been dealing with this for a hot minute and it started when they switched from steel to aluminum. Thanks for commenting brother, have a great Sunday. -Brandon
I’m 77 years old and have been driving cars since 1965. In the 60’s most GM cars were good, I had a bunch of them (Corvair, an Impala , a Bicayne, a Chevelle), but there was a big GM Recall on motor mounts, with a fix. A cable was installed if the mount failed, they had a new mount but didn’t use it to repair the problem, too costly. In the 70’s the Vega engine was no good and the cars were rust buckets. In the 80’s the Citations had poorly designed brakes and were dangerous (had a new Vega and a new Citation). Also had an 86’ Eurosport wagon, it was a rust bucket. To me this was the end of my new cars with GM. I bought a used 88’ Astro Explorer conversion, it was good, but sold it when at 113k, the engine started to loose power. No more GM…. I started to try a used Honda and have never looked back. No car is bullet proof, but the Hondas and Toyotas last longer and you basically maintain them and drive them rather than repair them. GM cars you’re always repairing something, like starters, alternators, suspension parts, fuel pumps, etc. The Japanese cars usually go to 150k miles before you replace anything. My first used Honda (bought at 22k miles, at 123k miles, replaced distributor, pipe & muffler), sold at 137k, because body started to rust. My used 98’ civic, replaced pipe & muffler, nothing else, sold at 170k, because of medical issue. My new 06’ Accord, sold at 170k, only repair, replaced starter. My 09’ CRV, still have it at 139k, no repairs. My 17’ Toyota RAV4, 90k, no repairs, still have it. Since 06’ most Japanese cars use SS exhausts (or do they?) and have not replaced any exhaust parts. Have never replaced any suspension components ever. My family has many of these cars with similar reliability issues. Some cars have gone way over 200k miles. Why is GM having problems? They always had issues, one kind or another, and it seems they just can’t dot their I’s or cross their T’s. Their design and quality is always short. You be the judge!
Reading the story is absolutely fascinating. If I understand correctly, you went from being a GM owner and maybe even a loyalist to then owning Japanese products? I hear the story all too often about people owning American cars and being loyal to American companies and after a while, they just give up and move to Japanese brands because they’re tired of paying high prices and dealing with problems. Thanks for commenting and I wish you another 77 years. Have a great Sunday. -Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy I’ve had some Ford products over the years (81 Fiesta, 84 Mustang, and 90 Lincoln Towncar) and they were better than the GM cars, but still drive and repair. I have rented some cars in Europe that I liked, like the Ford Mondeo wagon and Opel Astra. These were great cars (opinions of family members that owned these cars in Europe), and I enjoyed them and wondered why GM and Ford never brought them here. Now that GM is basically out of the picture and Ford has dropped most of their cars, do we have any US manufacturers? PS: I still have the Mustang and still enjoy it. It’s an LX convertible, loaded that I bought new in July of 1984. It has a HO 5.0L, 5 speed, has 75,000 miles and is stock. Original paint, top, and even wipers. Garage kept, never in snow, only in rain a few times.
EPA is to blame for a lot of the reliability issues with stricter and stricter emissions and fuel efficiency regulations. That being said I wouldn’t Touch domestic vehicle with a stick.
You know brother, I hear you but my rebuttal is why don’t other brands like Toyota and Honda have these issues? How are they able to meet demands and keep a quality product. But I don’t totally get your point and agree somewhat with it. Thanks for commenting brother. -Brandon 🫡
Just got recommended this and was pleasantly surprised with the video. This video could be hours long. I like the format but my suggestion is to make the topics more closely related. It's a little all over the place with subject matter and chronological order. Subscribed for future content.
Hey brother, thanks for the comment and I am glad you are surprised with the quality. I strive to be the best. I will work on the formats for the future. This one was more intended to be an overview of GM and not focus entirely on one subject, although, like you said could be hours long. I thought about doing that as I work on documentary films routinely. Maybe one day I will do something like that for GM because we all know they deserve it. But if I am being transparent, we aren't done with GM yet. Thanks again for subscribing and I hope you have a great weekend. 🫡-Brandon

My mom owns a 2012 Chevy equinox that she bought brand new, it only has 84k miles on it. It’s had no problems suprisingly and I’ve heard most people that owned them lost them quickly.
Your mom is either lucky or an amazing car owner. I bet she is the latter. I really hope she doesn’t have any problems and it continues to serve her well. It really bothers me when people get rinsed by these companies. Thanks for commenting brother, if you ever have and suggestions or concerns, please let me know. -Brandon
Brother, totally agree with this statement. I do think we give the big daddy in the north too much credit for aiding in ruining them but they certainly play a major part. I look at the company itself and realize they are just horribly ran and care about .57 cents rather than someones life. What car brand do you usually recommend to people? @@A-BombEnergy Growing up I was all about GM, anything GM. After getting burned I tried a Ford just for grins and it was great. After a few Fords they were now burning me. I have a Toyota Tundra and it has been rock solid.
It was certainly better. You can’t argue that, look what they’ve done with their V8s. There is a reason people only want older LS motors. But I totally get they made some made products before hand though, nobody can argue that.
My family has always had a GM as our “flagship family hauler.” The one vehicle that hauls everyone. We had a ‘97 Tahoe until 2003, when we needed a 3rd row. We got a 2003 Suburban 1500 LT, the first year of the GMT800 interior refresh. That was the first car my parents ever bought new. It had 1 single mile on it. Did it have its faults? For sure. Suffered from the famous gauge cluster failings that all these trucks from that era tend to do. But apart from that. The only things that Suburban needed was 2 water pumps (130k and 220k miles) and a fuel pump at 190k. Drove it to 240k miles. Sold it in 2021 to make way for dad’s new truck. The guy who bought it off of us kept in touch. He’s still driving it today. Sitting at 260k miles. Those GMT800’s are damn near bulletproof. Our new family flagship is a 2021 Sierra 2500 HD AT4. My dad finally bought a truck for himself and it’s what he wanted. He went out of his way and waited over a year so he could find one with the 6.6 gasoline V8, with no AFM/DFM, and the old 6L90 6spd automatic. So far so good, apart from some issues with the rear glass in the first 6mo of owning (apparently common on these new ones). Been fine since then.
Those GM vehicles that you had were definitely in the era of decent models. The ones today are no good. Which is really sad. I am not surprised to hear that the guy who bought the vehicle from you guys is getting more miles out of it. A friend of mine has a 2004 Tahoe and has over 300,000 miles on it. and he doesn't deserve that because he treats the vehicle like crap 😂 it's pretty amazing. I'm glad to hear that he got the vehicle he wanted and it sounds like he's a smart guy and waited for what he wanted. Especially without the AFM. I think that's a decent model and I wish you guys the best of luck with it. Keep us updated and let us know if anything wild happens to it. I would love to hear about it. -Brandon
The Big 3 will continue to decline, younger buyers are eschewing vehicles from General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis, and they are buying primarily Japanese and Korean cars. Only the Mustang, Dodge Charger, and certain lifted trucks remain popular with younger drivers for vehicles from the Big 3. The new tariffs on Chinese vehicles will not help. Go to South Jersey and the Northeast (New York-Philadelphia-Baltimore-Washington). Six or seven out of every vehicles that you see on the roads are foreign. The Entry Level market is dominated by Toyota, Honda, Hyundai/KIA, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, and VW, and the High End market by BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Audi, Porsche, Land Rover, Range Rover, Acura, Volvo, Genesis, and you will also see plenty of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Aston Martins, McLarens, due to the amount of money that is in this region. I also come from a household that has driven nothing but imports all of my life, Nissan, Land Rover, Range Rover, Honda, and Mercedes-Benz. Sadly, it is too late for the Big 3 to save themselves without another bailout. You still hear stories today about the poor reliability and quality of Big 3 vehicles, they never learned from their mistakes. The Asians have the image of value, quality, reliability, and practicality and the Europeans (Germans, British, and Italians) have the image of prestige, luxury, class, quality, and performance. The Americans have the image of poor quality, poor reliability, inefficient vehicles with poor gas mileage, lack a commitment to engineering in tech and safety compared to European cars, and a poor brand image especially on Cadillacs, Lincolns, and Corvettes.
Brother, good to see you again. I really appreciate this comment, you basically summed up the failure of the entire car industry to the letter. It takes someone who pays attention to not only the industry but to others around and has pattern recognition skills. But you also understand the dynamics of humans and what brands represent, this seems to be lost with some people but I think as time progresses, they are starting to get it. I want your opinion on this because its a comment I see frequently...and if I am being honest, it slightly frustrates me but it usually goes like this "its not the companies fault, its the regulators fault. They can't make quality cars because of regulations." I call total BS on that because look at Asian brands, heck man, even BMW's are improving their quality, hence why the B58 and B48 motor was designed with Toyota. I think they are adapting to the environment. Whats your take brother? (I remember you too btw, so thanks for the comment and support. It hasn't gone unnoticed my friend.) -Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy My take is that the Big 3 cannot make good quality vehicles because they do not want to. They use the cheapest parts and materials when manufacturing their cars. Planned Obsolescence. They also have the government who buy a lot of vehicles from them along with fleet sales to keep them barely afloat. Compare a Mercedes to a Cadillac, MB uses great quality materials while a Cadillac is a GM parts bin that is not bespoke or of good quality. Honda and Chevy, the same thing, my family’s 2008 Honda Ridgeline is still running today with zero problems, while many recent Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC SUVs and Pick-Ups are having reliability issues. The Big 3 do not care about producing quality and reliable vehicles but about the next quarters earnings. Luxury Vehicles and Sports Cars are another issue, the American luxury brands haven’t had prestige in decades, from rebadged vehicles to the use of cheap materials even on their expensive models, they have lost the market. The European brands use better quality materials. Real leather, carbon fiber, alcantara, and wool. Along with better quality and dealer service. The Big 3 do not want to innovate but to cut costs. Even if it means endangering the driver and passengers in the car and ruining your brand image.
You are one of the most refreshing people to talk to about this subject. Thank you for that. I remember I rented a C7 corvette on a vacation a few years ago (I always try to rent cool cars when I travel) and I remember LOVING it but I couldn't stand the interior. It was basically the same thing you get in a Chevy Cruze! Like really! $60,000 car and you parts bin it? Come on lol... And yeah, they totally don't mind putting people in danger... that .57 cent part was such a big deal to them. Fools. When I researched that whole thing further, brother...let me tell you it infuriated me to no end. That subject alone deserves a 2 hour documentary. 🫡-Brandon
@@A-BombEnergy Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, Audi, Lexus, and Acura make an attempt to make their cars stand out from their parent company but to General Motors just put a cheap shifter from a Cruze in your flagship Corvette. Performance does not mean anything when you are using cheap materials on an over $100,000 vehicle. A Porsche 911 will never have the same gear shifter as a Macan and a Bentley will never have the same interior as an Audi or VW. Those Four (Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Audi) built a brand image that cannot be smeared so they use the best materials in their cars. Volkswagen leaves those brands alone.
I have a 1992 Cadilac Seville (Base). It doesn't have the NorthStar engine, as that came out in late 93 (thank god). However, for a 30 year old car, with 167k miles on it. My 4.9 pfi V8 is hella reliable engine. Its quick, luxurious, and great. I always said my next car would be a 2004 Seville, but idk. This car is great, and i don't think i can evet let it go.

@@A-BombEnergy I've had it so far for a year, put 4000 miles on it since I got it. It was sitting in someones backyard for 6 months, through the winter, spring, and then summer, until I bought it for 1100. I'm assuming it was someone baby before they got rid of it. Then it fell into some wannabe "gangsters" hands. I know this because the radio was ripped out and when I got it had 22 inch rims on it. Of course, I took them off and put 17s on them. They're aftermarket, but they still look really nice, trying to replicate the time period. But in terms if car maintenance, typical tune up, alternator, starter. Idle control valve, throttle body sensor along with other sensors. Im noticing some slippage in 4th gear so I'm about to get the transmission and torque converter rebuilt. And probably the last thing I'm gonna do is the oxygen sensors and fuel injectors. Granted, I poor some sea foam and Lucas cleaner through the system. But my dads 2011 Cadillac DTS just had fuel injector fail. So I might give my car some fresh ones. After that, gonna fix up paint and numerous scratches all over the hood and roof. The car is Dark Polo Green, and it still looks really good. It just has a lot of small scratches all over it. Planning on keeping this car for as long as possible. I've done inspections on it and look into other places in the car. For rust buildup, and any possible internal failure. So if anything happens I know lol.
This is exactly why I stick with my 2005 Impala SS, 3.8 V6 Series II. 1996 Chevy std cab 2WD silverado with the classic Vortec 350 and a 1986 Olds 442- 1968 Olds 350/ THM 350 trans. Reliable, fairly easy to diagnose and repair, they don't look like shit. Post 2008? Couldn't give me one.

I had an '07 chevy suburban. It had an engine management system (four cylinder) shuts down at highway speeds. My engine shelled at 175,000 miles. Instead of getting another vehicle. My mechanic put in an older 5.3 engine full time V-8. My gas mileage actually was better. What's sad. If you live in some states that keep you from putting in a different engine. Customers are forced to put back in the same engine that failed at a lot more money. I was the one in a hundred of owners that kept up on maintenance. I even used Amsoil in the transmission and engine. Oh yea. My transmission failed just after I changed the engine. My shop did some performance upgrades. To give it a beefier capability. To keep my '07 in good shape after I put different types of engines/transmissions. I just reupholster. paint. Oh, one other thing the LTZ shocks cost me $3,200.00 to change at one time in my ownership. They didn't last 75,000 miles so I did a conversation kit. and put heavy duty Gabriels in that would last longer and only cost $60.00 a piece to replace. I'm almost 300,000 miles. 50,000 with my new transmission and engine. Now that I rebuilt it better than GM. I plan on taking this vehicle to half a million miles.
Mike, wow this is an incredible story. I am curious, what states don't allow you replace the engine with a different type? I have never heard of this and it sounds very controlling...I am glad though you got the good 5.3 inside your baby. You sound like a great car owner and someone who actually understands what it takes to keep these things running. I really hope you can get it to 500k miles. Knowing what you told me, I am sure it will surpass 500k. Thanks for commenting Mike, have a great week brother. -Brandon

I have still a 1979 Chevrolet Caprice Classic, 2 Dr, I will never sell. Still gets 19 to 24 mpg mix on a 350 5.7 Ltr, v8, and had a shake as well, that was a defective drum, that was fix years ago. The car still looks great. I had a 79 Datsun 210 by year 3 of my ownership, it blew up internally at 75000, found out it had the same issues the gm engine with cylinder deactivated have now. And to top it off mpg on the Datsun only hit a high of 28 mpg, and by trade in it barely to 13 mpg, at worst 10 mpg

You can't " demand " anything from a car company but if people stop buying from that company in large numbers you will get their attention.

I hear you on that brother, my only rebuttal is how come other brands are able to stay in line with the regulations and still produce quality vehicle?
EVs ARE required to meet certain efficiencies so these companies get their carbon credits. Then they actually have to sell them. And we know how that’s going for all manufacturers right now.
@@A-BombEnergyBecause US companies don't like challenges anymore. They are only worried about perceptions.
Are you kidding

@@cicadakidd Thank you you too. As a FORMER GM tech. I can’t wait to watch this!
I got an ad for the Chevy Cruze on this video. That's more ironic than the Alanis Morrisette song.
Sitting here with my '09 Cobalt LS... Mhmmm interesting
Haha that’s awesome! Have you ran a report to see if it’s had the ignition switch issue and been fixed? Pretty cool it’s still kicking too btw brother
The ironic coincidence of her surname coinciding with one of Ford's most iconic engines can't be missed
🫡-Brandon
I didn't know that...this is why you guys are so awesome, I learn something new from everyone every day.
Agreed 100%
Yeah its wild why they do this. And for what? 1 or 2 mpg? If that. I have seen guys do tests where they get worse fuel economy because the engine is having to work harder and rev higher. I have a Ram Rebel and thank heavens I don't have that garbage in it. What do you usually suggest people buy? 2500 models?
What about GM cars from the 50s, 60s, and early 70s?
@CJColvin they were no better. In they the 50s and 60s, they skirted safety intentionally, and in the 70s, they made lazy and pathetic, "things" with big pathetic engines and barley contributed to safety
@@alg003 What about the Muscle cars?
@@CJColvin as much as like a good Charger or Mustang, they've always been lazy. They have an incredibly simple recipe: big v8 motor, "big" power, RWD, genuinely bad handling (except for the mustang) and now, discontinuing them or making them an EV. (Also except for the Mustang)
@@alg003 Have you heard of a restomod before?
-Brandon
A white male chairman would have been fired.
This reminds me of the Ford/Firestone Tire debacle of 2000-2203 involving the 1991-2001 Ford Explorer with the ATX ATX and wilderness ties. This debacle claimed almost 300 people.
Was there any accountability from that? Something tells me no...
The best cars and all the ones I will ever own have already been built. All my vehicles are 20+ years old and rebuildable indefinitely.
@A-BombEnergy I currently am currently working with an 85 K30, SM465 and NP205, D60 front, 14b rear; 4.0, and 5.2 Jeep Grand Cherokee's and a Honda Super Cub 125.

Hey brother! Good to see you again! Glad you are so pumped 🫡😁

I mean GM can make a decent car. My Lesabre is a fantastic car, proving GM can make the best cars in the world, It just chooses not to.
-Brandon

-Brandon

My 92 Grand Am blew up because they designed the water pump to leak into the engine when it failed thus breaking down the oil and blowing the engine.

Yes, same here but they are beginning to take a turn for the worse.
What are you seeing with Toyota? I have seen they are moving some of their plants and that they are going to the turbos more and more.

CAFE is begining to ruin Toyota also
Indeed it is.@@drewsire-xl3df
GM sure can’t get their paint to stick beyond 3 years. They’ve had this problem since 2012. So the fact there are other more glaring issues just highlights the issue of profit over quality. Aka Boeing, Ford, GM…
Toyota paint and fit and finish is very poor.
-Brandon 🫡
Toyota took the deep dive recently. Recalls left and right and brand new tundra engine failures. Don't forget about the Toyota floor mat conspiracies.
🫡-Brandon
GM is the government, it doesnt matter how much you suffer to them.
Isn't their nickname "government motors"? Thanks for commenting brother, if you have any future suggestions, let me know brother. Content will floweth...🫡-Brandon
-Brandon
Leadership by accountants and onerous government regulations has ruined the auto industry and transportation in general.
Brother, totally agree with this statement. I do think we give the big daddy in the north too much credit for aiding in ruining them but they certainly play a major part. I look at the company itself and realize they are just horribly ran and care about .57 cents rather than someones life. What car brand do you usually recommend to people? I look forward to hearing from you my friend. -Brandon 🫡
@@A-BombEnergy Growing up I was all about GM, anything GM. After getting burned I tried a Ford just for grins and it was great. After a few Fords they were now burning me. I have a Toyota Tundra and it has been rock solid.
This mentions GM lauded quality pre-2008? Nope.
It was certainly better. You can’t argue that, look what they’ve done with their V8s. There is a reason people only want older LS motors. But I totally get they made some made products before hand though, nobody can argue that.
Ah a woman in charge. There your problem right there
My family has always had a GM as our “flagship family hauler.” The one vehicle that hauls everyone.
Truly a shame because there was a time not so long ago when they made good vehicles
Thats an awesome car you got there and I bet it has lasted so long because you take care of it. What type of maintenance do you perform on it? 04 Seville's are nice cars too, who says you can't have both 😁 Have you had your caddy since new? -Brandon
Dang brother those are some nice rides there. Have you had them since new? I bet you maintain the heck out of those cars, otherwise they probably wouldn't have lasted so long. Don't give GM too much credit, good owners keep cars alive. -Brandon
Your videos are professional quality! New sub! And yeah…I have thankfully never owned a GM product.
Hey brother, thank you for the compliments and subbing. I am glad you never owned a GM product, you are probably wealthier than most because of that lol. What do you like/own? If you have any requests or suggestions, I am all ears. Thanks again. -Brandon
-Brandon
The closing lines were deep man. Great vid
Thanks man I think we all need to try to send out more positive vibes to everyone. I was also listening to sleep token when I was writing the ending 😂 that always puts me in a different/deep mood. Are you familiar with them? Thanks for commenting brother and I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday. - Brandon
Just found your videos and Man. I cannot stop watching these are awesome. I work in the automotive industry and it is a joke They have been building vehicles for how long….. you think they would start getting better not worse Seems like after 2008 everything went crappy. quality went way down for the big 3 👍👍👍
Hey brother! Thanks for the kind words, I really want to provide you guys with the best information possible in the best format possible. Where do you work in the industry? I would love to hear more of what you think, maybe hit me up on IG if you want to chat more. Yeah people think the 2008 crisis was just about the banks/housing market but it was so much more. We are still paying for these mistakes and it makes me really sad. I hate seeing people getting taken advantage of. Its why I was never a good salesman that companies I used to work for wanted me to be. Honesty was a no go. I like sleeping at night soooo...lol. I will be posting a new vlog response video to this one soon and maybe slap in a quick Ford rant too 🤣 -Brandon
Excellent video! The background music sounds like The Shining too lol
Thanks Chris! Always good to hear from you (I know we have been chatting it up in other sections of the video). When I am not doing my gig for the Army, I professionally edit films for some big companies. They are usually serious films/dramas and its what I do best at. I figured since this is a horrific topic, lets make it horror themed 🤣. More to come Chris. 🫡-Brandon
It's amazing how every company is racing to the bottom.
Bryan, right? Its like they want to fail. Could you imagine if they put a CEO that not only was a car enthusiast but also business minded? The company would simply soar to the moon and nobody would be able to compete. You think this is intentional?
Wow, that is awesome that you have such an older car you don’t see that very often. You must take really good care of your cars. Do you have any tips for me on maintaining my vehicle to last that long? I’m sorry to hear about the issues you had with your Datsun. I love those older Nissans, but I am hyper aware of their issues. If you had to buy a new car today, what would you buy? Thanks for commenting brother and I hope you have a great rest of your weekend. -Brandon
