- With all the talk at the minute of having to shoot with a 100-400mm for full frame landscape photography it got me thinking - how about the 40-150mm with 1.4x telelconverter instead? It's pretty close to a 100-400mm but with the added bonus of a nice bright f/4 fixed aperture.
Could this be the perfect landscape photography telephoto setup? Come join me for a chat and a good few images and see if you agree that this is one of the best telephoto set ups on the market!

Nice pics and you presented the solution to the exact same dilemma that I have been chewing on. Terrific combo thanks for the information
Thank you! It really is a fantastic combo!
Nice one! Getting mine tomorrow. Very informative and beautiful shots with relaxing music at the end. Thank you.
Thank you Anthony! You're going to love it!
Some lovely shots Liegh. It's also very good for sports, whether it's people sports or motor sports. Brilliant lens. Keep up the good work
Thanks Jonathan! There's a good chance it's coming out again this weekend too!
Wildlife, portraits, landscape, and macros - the 40-150 f/2.8 does it all. I use mine for ships/boats and general stock photography around water / seaside areas. Only time I put the mc-14 on it is to increase magnification for wasps and bees in flight.
It really is a fantastic versatile lens. And amazingly clean for a zoom too - a sign of a lens done right!
Brilliant images,I live in the Lake District so it's always nice to see awesome photograph's of the local area. My buddy has just this past month bought this lens & he's mighty impressed with it too..I'm still a dinosaur & shooting heavy dslrs like the 1dx etc although I've just bought my first M43 body in a Panasonic G9. I'm looking forward to putting it through it's paces.
I think you're going to enjoy that one - the G9 is a fantastic camera!
Wonderful lens, permanently in my bag. Your images show the reason for carrying it.
It's definitely in the bag with me all the time now too!
I’ve been experimenting using this lens but using the digital 2x converter in my OM-1 Mkii. I know it’s only jeeps, but I have been happy with the results.
The thing's a brilliant all round lens and very sharp too! You'll lose a bit of clarity and resolution using the digital Tele but the results will still be fantastic!
Great Lens. Use it often. Shot an airfest in Tampa with the 40-150mm and the 1.4x as well as birds at the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine Fl.
It's definitely one that comes out with me all the time now just in case!
Hi Leigh, you managed some cracking shots there mate, I use the Nikon Z system and love my 100-400 for landscape and wildlife although, for the latter, i'm contemplating getting the Z 180-600. Enjoyed the video Leigh, keep them coming 👍
Thank you Steve! The lens combo comes with me on any lakes trip now - definitely now get the telephoto landscape shooting and in the mountains it's just glorious!
I run the Olympus 300mm for wildlife, so 600 equivalent - it almost makes me laugh when I use it as it's just so damn sharp!
Need a review of 150-600 have the 100-400 thinking of upgrading 🤔
@@everydaygrandad5642 150-600 is a toy. The 300mm F4 Pro is a far better lens and 300mm [600mm effective] is plenty long enough for birding once you have your field craft dialed in.
I own the 100-400 and was hoping it would be much better 🫣
@@everydaygrandad5642 100-400 is an ok lens, but not being on the Pro line if lenses does fall down a bit in clarity.
I mean jpeg!
It's ok, I knew what you meant 😉
100-400 is not the finest glass in the Om range !
100-400 isn't, that's why I was using the 40-150 😉
Sorry, I could not understand what you're saying since you have that accent and you're talking so fast! I was hoping to get something out of this video but...
Sorry about that, it's just the way I talk I'm afraid!
What? Im not even a native English speaker and I understand every word
