This lens resides on my Olympus OM-D E-M1 and aside from the jigsaw puzzle to re-assemble the lens hood and it’s tiny ball bearings a few times, have nothing but the highest praises. When I install the 1.4X dedicated teleconverter, being able to reach out to 420mm (equiv) is pure joy. All in all, no regrets on the silent mode at 11fps mirrorless conversion from my Canon dSLR and L-series glass.
Thanks for very good and entertaining review :) How about the lack of IS in the lens when using the teleconverter? Compared quality of images and af speed, to the slower but longer and IS lens 100-400 ?
I’d really like to own this lens but I have the Panasonic 35-100 mm f2.8 and it better suited to the small theatres and clubs that I often shoot in. When I go into a large theatre or venue I use an ENG cam (Panasonic PX270) which has up to a 600 mm and super stabilization and autofocus. The only glitch is takes some work to match it to my three GH5’s.

Had my combo of the lens & converter and for 7 years and still as sharp and fast as day 1!
Thank you for sharing your experience Mark
Thank you … and for doing this in English. Your English is very good! I am considering this lens - and this convinces me 👍
Thank you for watching and for your comment
Great review. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Merci beaucoup
hi Eric for your experience even if they are 2 different lenses but what do you recommend between the 40-150 f2.8 and the 12-100 f4?
i think you are motivating me to start a multilingual channel too. it sound s like a lot of fun and very entertaining. by the way I love this lense!
LOL, it is a lot of work, but yes, it is fun!!! thank you for your comment, Regards
Great review, very helpful and excellently described! Nice one!
A really useful video. You have confirmed my thoughts re the 2x teleconverter. Thank you.
Thank you Catherine

:D Someone on youtube that knows the difference between dof and bokhe
Thank you
I have this lens and the 300mm F4. Thinking about picking up the 2x converter and use it with the 300mm for birds but not sure about the IQ.
Thank you for your comment. Some are ok with the x2, others says it is not as good... hard to say
If this lens is equivalent to 80-300, wouldn't the 2x converter take that out to 600mm?
Yes if it is the 2x, but this one is the x1.4
Would love this lens. Unfortunately cannot afford it right now
Surely a great lens. I hope you can get it one day.
Go for a second hand ... a lot on sale . get the 2.0 converter too.
Agree!
