@@ireneserrano4570 Speaking as a Norwegian, a Swede would definitely take notice of the spelling regardless of whether or not they know of the artist or where they're from.

I like how Japanese people appreciated every genre of music. In my country it was quite hard to find people with indie or rock music taste. Basically pop and kind of ballad music was more popular. And yes, classical was something that I say not common.

They are too mainstream and people tend to hate that, especially AKB48 have lots of attack points (otaku and lolicon stigma for example). I predict same thing will happen to Nogizaka46 (乃木坂46) and Keyakizaka46 (欅坂46) 2-3 years later when they are too popular.

Vatroslav Morbidović Idk why you're so surprised tbh. Rock music and especially metal has never been a popular genre in any part of the world. Why should it be in Japan? Just like in the west, most ppl listen to pop music (pop-popular).

coldrain is metal, too. this survey with like 20 people says nothing, but still, mainstream music is pop anywhere in the world i guess.
I've been to knotfest japan recently, will attend countdown japan (both huuuuge metal/rock festivals) and there are tons of other's, especially in summer. you'll find the metal fans at the right places.

About that beatboxer guy who said he likes Björk, he probably likes/would like Médulla, her vocal album (which features Dokaka, a Japanese beatboxer, on some songs)

I expected mostly everyone to like rock music. Most of the anime opening are rock songs (I know not everyone watches to anime) and the biggest Japanese band that western media likes is one ok rock. I even have a Spotify dedicated to Japanese rock music because they do it so well.

I like Hello project songs Kana Nishino E-girls Hey Say Jump songs...etc. I listen basically to everything but I'm not that close to rnb and rap/hip hop. My favourite genres are pop, rock and ballads (?)
