    I am soooo happy I found this channel. These two guys have made me understand the golf swing and basically everything involved with it, mechanics, tempo, you name it so easily. The way they explain things is like explaining things to a toddler. No complicated words, just plain simple stuff, the drills are fool proof, I mean, can’t tell you how much money this thing is worth!!! Priceless. A golf lesson for free! I’m in love, I’m hooked, I’m amazed ;) after countless hours of watching UA-cam videos I’m delighted your channel was suggested to me. Kudos, great job, keep it up, but more importantly, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You guys know how much advice that works means to a golfer ;)

    2 inch conduit straps from the hardware store serve as great cheap putting gates. 2 pack for $2.50. 2 inch = 50mm or the standard size of most commercially made putting gates. Get larger conduit straps for longer/breaking putts from further out. They stand up on their own and have screw holes that can be used to hold them in place with two tees.

    Your Rhythm and speed tips are golden. Love the throw and ball and reaching for a door knob. No more punching out windows in the green for me.

    Awesome instruction! When I played all the time I used a Metronome and could hear "Tick - Tock" in my head to improve my tempo and rhythm.

    I enjoy your videos a lot! I’m super thankful I came across your channel. Big fan here ;) if you ever had the time, I would love some help with putting. But I’m gonna need a series lol. From grip to aiming and reading greens. That’s my biggest wish right now. And anything else coming from you guys I’m gonna take as an added benefit. Thanks!!!

    Amazing as always. Have you considered a pro versus amateurs video using Sam putt lab data? Do you have pro vs ams data for putting?

    It would be interesting to see a gears video of the putting stroke concentrating on the spine and shoulder movements/directions. Great job guys.

      @@AthleticMotionGolf I'll bet anything the am will come out of the shot more often when putting. Gotta keep that spine still or else you'll pull everything when you peek early.

    Great video, guys! On the gate drill, do you recommend moving the gates with you as you increase the putt length? So are you always putting the ball through gates that are 2ish ft in front of the ball and the distance between the gates and hole vary? Or do you leave the gates in a fixed position and vary the distance from the ball to the gates? Thanks!

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 років тому

      Keep the distance from ball to gates the same regardless of putt length. If you want to work more on breaking putts, move the gate to about 10"-12" away from the ball.

  • @markbarlow9955
    @markbarlow9955 3 роки тому

    Regarding stroke length, on average, pros take back 1/3 and swing through 2/3. Regarding tempo (use a metronome app) pro average tempo is 76 bpm from address to end of stroke past ball for every length of putt.

    Why do you line up the three balls before the gate drill?

  • @jvitali60
    @jvitali60 4 роки тому

    remember face contact is way more important than path as well. rhythm should be same on all putts 6-40 ft for consistency

  • @CharltonNguyen

    Do you think you could do the same thing on irons and driver? As far as putting bandaid on the face?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 років тому

      Don't see why not. Might have to reapply more often with the irons though.

    As usual, great drills, but I just spent an hour on them and found some improvement in each area, but afterwards when I tried to make putts, if I concentrated on center strike my distance control was gone and if I concentrated on distance control, I missed the gate more often. Is this something that will improve with practice or is something else needed to combine the concepts?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 років тому +2

      You gotta stick with it Paul. Skill building like this is a "rinse and repeat" process.

    Speed, speed, speed. I can't stress that enough to handicap golfers. 10-handicappers average 2.16 putts from 20 feet. I think that is atrocious, but the upside is that it's incredibly easy to improve and start saving strokes. If you have the coordination to play off 10, you have the ability to lag it close from 20 feet and make 3-putts very infrequent. You just never practice it. Do speed drills. When reading longer putts, pay more attention to speed than line. Lagging it from 20 feet is the easiest, least glamorous way to gain 0.16 strokes imaginable.

    I put on a putting seminar taught by Geoff Magnum, a world expert on putting, in Southern Oregon. The seminar was poorly attended despite a great price and superb venue. I ask Geoff why attendance was so poor and he told me, “Everyone thinks they know how to putt, no matter how poor a putter they are!” Maybe that’s why these superb teachers have fewer videos on putting?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 років тому

      That might be the case... also, putting is a little more boring on video too.

      You guys are doing a great job. I’m addicted to your detailed analysis. Please do so of your Pro versus Amateurs in their mechanics? I bet there would be a big difference but we can only know if you look. You guys are great. I told the guy I golfed with today to check you out. There is science behind putting. Geoff has hundreds of drills to improve the 4 aspects of putting. I used one of your chipping and pitching videos to markedly improve my chipping. Thanks.

    Most people have no idea how bad they mis hit putts. They will toe their putts bad on the first few holes, then comment how slow the greens are. Then the fourth hole they actually hit the sweet spot and ram it by ten feet. Then they think all the greens are different speeds.

    • @Ryan-fx7jx
      @Ryan-fx7jx 5 років тому

      What if they are though, the majority of golfers play on average course where the upkeep and manicuring is enough to keep them rolling, not checking same speed. Playing on different greens and speeds is my worst aspect of putting. Putt better on faster greens because I know the speed better.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 років тому

      That's not just true for putting... knowing impact location on all clubs is difficult for the majority of golfers, but it is absolutely worth the investment to learn.

    How dumb was I to buy Dave Pelz' putting prongs back in the day when I had bandaids in my bag at all times?! There is a new wave in golf instruction: solid collegiate players turned journey professional that failed to realize their golfing potential because they followed "golf digesty" instruction that turned out to be B.S., and who now continue their golf journey seeking out how the damn thing really works! Play on!

    • @AthleticMotionGolf

      I had those Pelz prongs too... that pro size would really test your sanity, lol.
