Game changer for me. Your concept of recentering and the step drill to facilitate this athletic motion has changed my concept of the golf swing. Although I’ve been a low handicap golfer, this concept and drill has allowed me to hit the ball more solidly, crisply, and consistently than ever before. Shot a 69 the other day after days of only doing the step drill on the range and focusing on recentering slightly left at the top of my swing. I give all the credit to this channel when asked what I’m doing and how I’ve been able to hit the ball so consistently well. Here’s a sincere thank you to Mike and Shawn for this channel and for sharing all of this terrific information with us.

There are are so many tips/secrets/drills on UA-cam making wild claims about transforming your game, but few are easy to replicate without commitment to practice and the ability to feel the change. After 35yrs of playing this game I can honestly say this technique is about as easy to understand, as simple to copy and as immediately beneficial to enabling a properly timed downswing as anything I've ever seen. What's superb is that it's not a swing thought, but a physical movement within the swing, so it's 'real not feel'. You guys are in a class of your own 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

wow. i used the drill in play yesterday for the whole round and shot my best ever score. i cant stress enough how superb your channel and content is, what a pair of legends! strongly recommend to all seeing this to try it in play. gave me so much confidence and even stopped me spending so long over the ball, it essentially replaced the million swing thoughts and just put me on auto pilot. have i hit it longer, yes, but that's not the game, its consistency that gets the scores! 0 lost balls, 8.6 score diff, took my hc down to 11.

I’ve heard you guys reference the transferring of weight early in the backswing plenty of times before and for some reason, it never resonated with me….UNTIL TODAY. I took this to the range and applied it, and like others have said, this was transfiguring. I never hit the ball like I did today…totally unbelievable. Thanks guys.

I wanted to thank you guys for this drill and feeling.. I am a 2.5 hcp that scores in spite of my swing, not because of it.. This help tremendously today on the range with all my irons. Where I did run into a little issue is with driver,, by feeling a bit more left early, I felt like I was jammed or ahead with driver. How would you adapt this feeling and drill for driver?

I’ve. Always had problems shifting my weight back to the lead side, usually resulting in thin and fat shots. I’m 73 now so a bit late to learn!! However went to the range after watching this video and immediately saw my #6 iron carry distance increase from 140 yards to mid 150 yards. I have a portable launch monitor, so know these increases are genuine. Like you say, I felt I had lots of time to get back to the ball. Many thanks for this tip. GG in Sheffield, England👍🏻

This is a fantastic drill. I felt like I had all of the pieces of a good swing, but I struggled to coordinate them. As of late, I have worked on this re-centering aspect of the swing and it has made huge difference. I like to feel that my golf swing “unfolds” and this re-center drill or others (I saw another AMG video that showed a slightly different drill) helps me to do so. I also practice this when practicing chip and pitch shots (the body moving forward while the arms still moving back).

Has helped sync me up and consolidate my practice / warmup to be more effective!

Fantastic! I see you’re at Falcon Crest. This drill was extremely helpful. Made me wonder why not just start with weight and knee flex at the very beginning in the first place? Such an important video. I feel this is a vital part of the swing that gets overlooked by most instructors on UA-cam. It should be a caveat to every single hip rotation/transition video. I bet the keyword ‘timing’ is very rarely searched for as people don’t understand what the issue is.
Another problem is that you don’t get the benefit of seeing the recentering move as instructors tend to show you what happens from the top of the swing, when the key move has already happened.
Thanks guys for another excellent video 👍

THANK YOU AMG!!! This drill is a savior to my game. I "chunked" my first couple practice sessions by doing the drill without a club, allowing my trail arm to continue to a full turn with lead shoulder down. I then followed your "Practice like a Pro" at the range. Took over 2 hours to get though a bucket of balls. The first 3/4 of a bucket were tough as you predicted. Last 1/4 bucket was amazing. Easier the swing the better the outcome. Took to the course today and played bogey golf with the drill, mainly due to overshooting the greens and bad putting. Cannot wait to dial in the new distance. Your Pro vs AM Hip turn videos and drills are next to "chuck" on!!! Thanks again

A little late to the game here. Tonight I did this drill at the range, and yes your were right, it was hard to do at first, but I think I picked it up pretty fast. Normally I hit my gap wedge about 100-105 yds. After several errant shots I began t hit some really good shots, swinging at about 50%, then I went for a full swing, to my surprise, I hit it flush, and the ball not only went higher, but landed about 120 yards out there. Now, I couldn't do that all the time, but even my so-so shots went well past the 110 yard marker. Also, my shots are Way more consistent. Me I'm 71 yrs young, but I do have a twisted, and curved spine, and also have arthritis in my lower back. My back was a bit sore when I got home, but the pain is worth it, hopefully it was just from using muscles I hadn't used before..This is a game changer for me, so Thank you both very much.

Hi AMG, a couple of things from me. Firstly I discovered your channel a few days ago, have now seen about 8 of your videos and I think you guys are FANTASTIC. Really thought provoking and HELPFUL. Thank you so much for what you do!!! Secondly, I recently discovered the joys of not moving off the ball AT ALL by basically pre-setting and posting up on my left side making sure to not reverse pivot. Does this not achieve basically the same benefits at contact as this drill does? Curious to hear your thoughts!!

The first 10 years I started playing golf I unconsciously lifted my lead foot off the ground and then back down again. My ball striking was phenomenal. Then one day someone pointed it out to me and I stopped doing it because it apparently wasn’t right. My ball striking went down hill and I put it down to just getting older. You can imagine my surprise when I saw Padraig Harrington practicing the exact same motion as I did a few years ago. Now you have a drill for it. Brilliant, can I add 1 thing, this doesn’t have to be just a drill, you can play golf this way to a very high standard. My little step was so subtle you would barely fit a feather under my lead foot when I lifted it up. I m going back to the future with this. Thanks for reminding me.

Great lessons!, Thank you! I only have one suggestion. Instead of stepping to the left to keep or move the mass back to the left for righty golfers, I think setting up normally while keeping the left foot pointed at 90 degrees, and in the take away and at the right time, the golfer has to turn his left foot about 20 to 30 degrees counter clock. This feels more natural while helping the mass to stay on the left. Main advantage: the golfer does not need to worry about the size of the step because he does not have to step left at all. Please try it and let me know what you think. Thank you

    • @briansmith1218
      @briansmith1218 4 роки тому

I would only say that turning the foot will change the angle of your left knee as well. This will change the dynamics of your lower body and will be foreign once taking real shots. The little step still keeps everything aligned. Just a thought

While it might be difficult for everyone to achieve the weight shift and lean correctly especially for seniors thinking about the power move, the belly pivot and other such tips I think would help golfers be in the right position. In essence that way they also achieve the idea of the weight shift to the forward foot at least that starts the downward swing. Will try the step drill to see how that adds a further check or useful drill.

With that said, have you ever put the moves (best players moves/tempo) to music or tempo to observe what the tempo ranges are and if someone can learn easier that way?

Any suggestion on bpm for listening to during a range session ? Is it 80-85 or up to 147 ? Saw an app that was suggesting as high as 147 with a playlist. Wondering if this is too fast or just right for tempo. Love listening to music while hitting balls. Want to make sure it’s not hurting

Thanks gents, this was a light bulb moment for me, I've always struggled getting my weight forward. Went out after only five minutes practice using this drill and I can't remember the last time I hit the ball so well.

What would be the result if you just kept the weight forward from the start? It seems like if it happens that fast would that be easiest? Or does that through the swing off? Sorry old video so not sure I’ll get a response.

Great Drill. You're loading to the left as soon as you start the backswing, so when you get to the top, you just swing down because you've already shifted back to the left for great impact position. QUESTION: This would be similar to the goal of the Stack and Tilt system, wouldn't it ?

We see great players shift to the right before shifting forward.👍
