I’m a Soweto girl. Moved from Soweto to Ormonde View when I was 15 years old, then Moved to the USA in my mid 20s, still in the US but man there’s no country like SA. I miss South Africa, but what I miss the most is UBUNTU and just how joyful South African people are, I think it’s a Black people thing. Abuti Sifiso explained everything so well , I think he should be a tourist guide for African Americans. I’m loving the relationship between African Americans and African people on the continent ❤, finally building what we were robbed of.
My mother grew up on the street adjacent to Vilakazi street, joining from Mandela house. My mother used to play with Nelson and Winnie Mandela children Zinzi and Zeni when they would comeback from school in Swaziland. Vilakazi street is a place very close to my heart as I would spend my school holidays there without my cousins. People should visit Vilakazi street and Soweto to see how most native black SAns live. Soweto is also the most densely populous residential area in SA and one of the largest in Africa.
When I first went in 2010 I thought it was going to be hot as well, but honey I was cooooold. I was not prepared, especially sitting in an open Safari vehicle without heat.
That's right! International flights taken out of the US are best taken in the evening especially due to the time zone change. The International flight I took was 23 hours from JFK to Changi.
I’m looking for deals to Johannesburg. That is the place I want to visit first before I travel the world. Any tips on plane tickets and what hotels in Johannesburg to stay at on a visit there?
