Thank you both for doing this video and for sharing your honest thoughts. I also appreciate everyone else sharing their feedback. This contest is a major undertaking for myself and my team and our goal is to make it as good as it possibly can be. I would say I am an expert in how to lay out the events and set up the contest for the athletes. On the other hand I will be the first to admit that I am not an expert in the video production side and unfortunately all of the blame for the downfall of that needs to be put on me. We will take all the feedback from everyone and use it to make the contest and experience better moving forward. Thank you.
Class act. My daughters, parents, and I waited through the glitches and enjoyed it all. We’re hoping to all attend next year. I have no doubt that it will continue to improve.
You put on an incredible show Brian. Eight events and sixteen athletes is a huge challenge, and everyone can clearly see the work that was put in to this and how well you and Keri looked after everyone. Don’t be disheartened by the technical issues. It’s all a learning experience. We’re excited to see the competition evolve and have no doubt that next year will be even bigger and better.
I couldn’t agree more with your comments about the conversational blackout. There was no excitement or online hype at all in the strongman community thanks to this. Brian really needs to rethink this stance.
Totally agree. I remember when Hafthor pulled 501kg I was sitting at home watching, during lockdown, with my girlfriend on skype and together we cheered him on and read the comments and afterwards there was this huge debate online that was amusing to follow. More than a year afterwards I still remember it. :) the Shawclass whatnow..?
I would prefer a live stream with no limit to results release, to the current format. But I don't mind the "conversational blackout" if I have to wait to watch it.
@Gary Snow no one is being censored - Brian is choosing to withhold footage from his own production. That’s his choice and I understand why... even though I disagree and it should be live.
Loz and Liz are spot on about “the waiting kills the buzz” really hope promoters start listening to what they say. Feels like we need an ‘Uncle Loz and Liz classic’ sooner than later.
I agree with your thoughts. Really good to see Brian putting the athletes first and trying to get them the most price money, but gatekeeping the event like this and then having the site crash and the edited video be kinda disappointing is not the best way to do it. Last year's video was pretty good but this year it felt like it was cut down to much as there were a lot of things missing, no info on athletes withdrawing, wrong results in the screens, audio issues, important content cut out and so on.... Awesome contest but definitively room for improvements!
No issue with the gatekeeping, it's what's providing the prize money and support to run the event in the first place. But yeah, video production side would probably need a major boost from what I've been hearing. To be fair though, IT upgrades are usually underestimated by everyone (from the server side).
I agree 100% with uncle Loz HOWEVER ! A Livestream takes alot of work and logistics behind it and we must not forget that this was only the second Shaw Classic ever and we already saw a massive improvment from the first one. Lets hope that next year they are able to pull the ressources necessary for a livestream :)
I attended the Shaw Classic, when clips from the event came out, I showed them to friends, I only have one friend who is interested in strongman, and while the friends I've shown it to haven't become strongman fans over night, they are now more intrigued by the sport after seeing some of my personal highlights from the event
Knowing that everything is paywalled to piss pretty much made me just worry about spoilers on the reddit thread and then go about my day. Yay Strongman, the only sport worth watching anymore. If you can watch it for free.
@@jp05598 What don't you people understand? Nobody is saying make the show completely free. People are saying continue to charge a fee, but don't ban people from discussing. More discussion = more hype = more money for athletes.
@@um8778 thanks for clarifying, your original comment didn’t really elude to that at all. As a fan I still cared about it and bought the rights and waited for the video and the website troubles. I just stayed off social media and did my own shit until then, really not that hard.
Agree 100%. This format was ok for the first home gym Shaw Classic, but this contest deserves much better. As you said the setup, the events and the athletes' performance were amazing, Terry's commentary was good but the edited end result was subpar. And it couldn't have been better given the timeframe. The contest needs more exposure and a livestream, or even if a livestream is not possible for next year, release the results and then take your time and release a polished proper edited version
@@orlandopockets6372 Kind of insulting for James, he think he did a hell of a job editing all of that video material alone in one night. Maybe they need a professional production team, but I guess that doesn't pay off at the moment.
Totally agree on the building the hype discussion. Related to the timing, I think it's important to remember that Brian got sort of wedged out on his original date when Rogue decided they were going to do the inaugural Rogue Invitational on the same weekend he originally planned on doing it. I can sympathize with having to try and find another weekend that didn't directly clash with another big show, especially this year.
Great outlook on the entire Shaw classic contest and the state of Strongman in general! I've been a fan of Strongman for for over 20 years but the way it's promoted makes it one of the toughest sports to follow. Imagine a world championship heavyweight boxing match being held in June but having to wait til Christmas Day to watch it...whilst trying to avoid spoilers! It's ridiculous. Especially in the age of the internet and social media where you get news feeds as soon as you turn your phone on! There HAS to be a better way and I love that Loz and Liz are contributing to the solution, rather than being part of the problem! Keep up the amazing content!!
I greatly preferred the BTS footage to the show footage. The show footage was too clinical. You didn't get to see the athletes interact with each other. The best part of strongman is the camaraderie and interaction with each other. That part of the story was lost on the show footage. There was just too much time spent showing the announcers talking. While they did a great job, I want to see the athletes. It was so cool to watch the BTS footage and the support the athletes give each other. Loved watching the T-Rex yelling and trying to psyche up Mitchell before his lift. What do you think?
Live stream plus UA-cam later is definitely the way to go. I loved watching but it was kind of dumb watching by myself at midnight on my computer (because that's when I was finally able to get in).
Not only did the waiting not bother me but I love all the BTS stuff Brian is releasing on his channel. I just wish some of the strongmen who vlog like Martins, Oleksii, and Obie were there so we could get even more BTS stuff.
First, that was an awesome show and congratz to all the athletes who participated! I'm a home viewer who signed up to Shaw's stream. Next, I just want to say that I absolutely hate not having a live show broadcast; for the Shaw Classic, WSM, whichever. Live sports are way more exciting. I did not search for results until I was able to watch the stream both days and I was seeing the results 1st time as I watched them, but it's still not the same. There is no reason in this day and age why these shows cannot be aired live. Cross Fit Games, Arnolds, WUS and others manage to put on great shows live and no Strongman comp should have an excuse not to live from here on out. Last, production quality. I won't bother with website issues; in all honesty, it's expected. I don't like it but I can live with it...for now. The Shaw classic's issues with production (broadcast) stem from not having a professional crew handling the broadcast production. They did a fantastic job, with what they have...but a show like that should have a professional camera crew, sound engineers, and editors\directors. I know Brian is trying to 'keep it in the family' and you can see the stress on him and his wife (kudos to both for the hard work they've put!). Having a crew handling that portion would have reduced the bottom line but I'm a fan...I want to see the show and I think a cleaner production will bring more viewers. Big thanks to Brian for putting up this show. Amazing performances by the athletes. Unreal setups on the implements! Now put it on live (broadcast bits from previous two shows in between events), hire a real TV production crew, put it on a platform that can handle the viewing load, and it's a perfect show! Thank you Loz and Liz for your awesome thoughts (as usual).
Yea them trying to make good video the next day with a single man editing it seems foolish. They should have known beforehand that the quality wouldn't be the best putting such a massive job on one person.
@@orlandopockets6372 The editor is also the camera man who captured much of the footage and had many other duties falling to him on comp day I’m sure. He had a full day of working then was expected to pull together an edit overnight, syncing footage from multiple sources, adding graphics, etc. The job could easily take many days if done well. What he produced was impressive given the circumstances, they just never should have put it on him to do it alone and so quickly in the first place.
I agree 100% about the blackout. I am a WSM fan since back in the 70s and have recently discovered your channel (After WSM 2021). I watched the show as soon as I could get it and loved it. But, I got aggravated waiting on your and Liz's commentary. I love the way that the two of you click on screen and give great unbiased commentary. I enjoy the show even more after hearing your commentary if fact there are shows that I have streamed after seeing your video. I agree that the sport would be better promoted if folks could get the shows sooner . Thanks for the great videos, Big fan from across the pond.
I agree. What I love about the Shaw Classic is the fact that Brian is sharing profits making a larger payday for the athletes - that's the primary reason I paid for it instead of waiting and watching a recap. The format of going head-to-head, no groups, a heavy event, all things that The Shaw Classic is getting right. And it's improved over last year - solid effort. Ideally, this would be streamed live, which means a lot more complications from a production perspective. But I'm a believer in a better product is going to attract more viewers, which is going to result in more revenue to pay for the bigger production. If not streaming live, I think the format of releasing the cut-down version the next day is a good compromise. I'm with Liz, I've had to edit video overnight, to do it from multiple cameras and audio sources with graphics is a big challenge. So I'm good with a less polished version in favor of getting it to the people faster. The biggest criticism is what everyone was talking about, especially on Reddit, the web hosting was horrible. This is the one thing that didn't improve from last year. The same issues with the site crashing, maintenance being done at the same time the Day 1 video was posted, the authentication and login bugged, and the app wouldn't even start up for much of the weekend. If Brian is going to funnel everyone to Shaw Strength, he has to take responsibility for that. And it just doesn't make sense to build the whole online infrastructure for one event that draws 10,000 x's the normal traffic. Finally, the blackout really sucks. Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, feed him for a lifetime. An event for the athletes would allow them to live-stream parts of it, post pictures, post live results, let fans that subscribe to their channels see exclusive content, etc. I think an open and live broadcast would go so much further to promote the event and support the athletes vs. restricting everything for a bigger prize pool.
With the Arnold’s rogue streams it live on their UA-cam channel and the will post an edited version a few hours later/next day All competitions should be similar to that
@@ronnylarock13 wsm is a much bigger show than giants live rah and they could still put everything on tv at Christmas and get the views from the casual audience (aka most of their audience) and it wouldn’t really harm their sales
massive fan of the sport and super excited to watch the Shaw Classic BUT, i thought it was too expensive for a next day summary video rather than a live stream, so i didn't watch it.. So i absolutely agree with all your comments. I'm now looking for spreadsheets and BTS videos, that we all know it's pretty frustrating..
Been following the sport for 3 years now, seeing all major competitions. Im from Argentina, for me and many others south americans its not that easy to afford and see the pay shows, a late upload of the shows to UA-cam could be masive for promoting the sport. P.D. Lets go JF!
That's what I mentioned in my other comment. Pay for now, convenient, and the rest see it much later, not convenient. Best of both worlds. Get money AND eyes to the sport.
@@A-A-RonDavis2470 Best of both worlds is to livestream it straight away for free like any proper sport does, and to get money from sponsors because more people would watch that way. Arnold's and WUS already show that it's very doable in strongman.
I thought the events and weights were great. This way created a clear winner with no luck. Sometimes at WSM the margins are so small that it doesn't seem definitive enough to really know who is strongest.
Yea the fact everyone stays on the competition the whole means they get the chance to compete in events that suit them and there's no accidental bias towards one athelete vs another. Much better way to do it
If the sports gonna grow we NEED TO LIVE STREAM. People want that excitement. They want to be watching with their beer in hand, and shouting at the television.
It was great but I do enjoy the exclusiveness of the contest. Hopefully he keeps it exclusive but does make it live and /or a better feed. I am sure he will make this better for years to come! I love your guys videos! Keep em coming!!
With knowing Brian and Keri for so many years, it was awesome to be asked to participate in the care and crisis intervention for the athletes to keep them in the contest! It was nice not be an afterthought, but an intentional addition for the athletes from the beginning! A lot of work , but so very worth it! Good commentary, but be assured, the Shaw Classic will continue to improve from every angle! #StrongmanDoc
Fully agree with Loz here. The event is terrific for the athletes and likely for the attending fans on site. But I would rather have the results from events and discussion going from the start of the competition and watch a better edited video a couple of days later, if not a week later.
The fact the Shaw Classic has generated so much talk in only its second year is a testament to appeal and growth of the sport: Well done to Brian (and team).
Absolutely spot on guys. For the first time ever i took insults off an athlete for been negative over this comp even though like you i promoted it beforehand and led people to buying the ppv and tickets. Then because of the gag which we CHOSE to respect for Brian's sake we couldn't tell all the good things which would have encouraged fans to go buy it. A couple of the many methods Brian should have utilized is to have released the 2020 competition to the public for free to wet their appetite, another is i think no athlete at this level should be going home with $2500 in this day and age therefore i think the comp should have less athletes so the prize pot can be split at a better rate. We all want this comp to work. Frustrating!
Well you made the crucial points about the Shaw Classic last year already. The paywall is the main problem of this show, it kills the interest and keeps the sport from growing. Even the prize pool could be bigger if it was paid by companies' money spent on ads rather than from fans' pockets.
Everyone got $1000 on top of it. I don't know if its worth it but atleast everyone got paid. Something is better than nothing. But I don't want to the number of athletes to decrease, its just perfect.
as a person sitting at home i like the day after cut version of the show. i don't have to wait for the time when the athletes are resting between events and also it cuts out the time in resetting the equipment i was just as excited as i would have been to see it live cause no one other then those at the event knew what had happened.
Loved the video Loz, loved the Shaw Classic too. The size of the field and the variety of events is the best out there atm, I really hope Brian nails the broadcasting/streaming issues next year. His event really does deserve to be hyped big time.
I loved the Classic and though the website was definitely slow, once the video loaded up it was great. Best show of the year easily. I'm really hoping that the other Strongman shows start to feel the pressure from this to have a day by day produced video.
Completely agree, thanks both of you! I paid for the stream, and when I finally got to watch it I really loved the events, the amazing performances and the visuals. Super impressed by Trey. However, 3 things kind of "killed the buzz" a bit for me: 1) knowing the event had already taken place, and having to wait until the next day to watch it and know the results , then the website not working and having to wait another day. 3) the edited video - too fast paced for me, they just showed the lifts, not much of the hype before or after or even the athletes walking to and preparing for the lift. However, I do have the time and patience to watch a 4-5 hours live stream - a shorter version might be more practical for others. 4) no Liz and Loz Video right after the event! Since I don't know any fans of the sport in RL, watching you and other channels discuss the event soon after is an important part of the whole experience.
100% in agreement with you both..on all counts, but you have to give Brian and his wife and team a huge round of applause for what they have done in a years time and it will definitely only get better 😁🤙🏽
Another great video guys, I agree with you that I think it would be nice to be able to know the results quicker and have a live stream, creating that buzz which this contest definitely deserves. Also agree that the format is really good and I love how Brian wants to really look after and give back to the athletes.
I agree totally about the hype dying. No stream and no conversation kills any interest I have in the comp. The only thing related to the comp I pay attention to is your videos Loz/Liz. I love being able to watch Rogue comp streams on UA-cam while doing whatever else is going on
Biggest problem with strongman is how much downtime there is because you have to adjust yoke/bar heights, move stones/weights, and just get everything in place. If there was only 3 minutes between the next competitor that would be perfect. Reset everything during a commercial break.
I think you guys made a good point. From a promotional viewpoint it would be a great thing to open the results and maybe 20% of the footage for the first day of the competition. I'm convinced that that would keep entice more people to sign up to see the second and final day event.
A point I want to mention about the blackout on top of the things you and the comments already mentioned: I think due to the blackout Trey Mitchell kind of did not get the hype and praise he deserved for his outstanding performance. There is no hype build up. Now, nearly a week later, it is allowed to talk about it, but now it is like „yeah whatever, ESM is in 2 days“. and that is literally what you see online on instagram and reddit. Kind of a bummer for Trey.
Excellent constructive criticism of the Shaw Classic. To grow a sport, you don't keep it under a veil of secrecy. If Brian puts out the Shaw Classic 2020 on UA-cam as a trial balloon, watch it get a ton of views...and it will generate more interest in upcoming Shaw Classics...
Clever point on leaning on media to grow the sport. There should be a press release on the competition, how to watch it, highlight some of the athletes, and mention the next competition that readers/viewers should turn their attention to and how to watch that one.
Absolutely agree with you Uncle Loz. I have been a Strongman fan dating all the way back to the great Kaz. This needs to be opened up to the rest of us. You said very well. Unfortunately it won't be televised.. maybe one day. But this is such an awesome sport. Yet it was locked down and not open to anyone but the "elite club'.The other thing that you didn't mention. Brian plays both roles an athlete and a event producer and promoter. Tough thing to do.
Yeah bang on Loz about the results I feel it should be streamed for free the results are hidden because of WSM TV Show at Christmas it needs bringing up to date first before you can grow the sport like it deserves I hope someone can come in and sort it out 👍
I couldnt even find the start time of day or time on Brians websites...... and others in his forum said same thing lol.... same thing I noticed in 2020 show! i found info in a forum thread lol
It was only the 2nd year for this, from garage to arena going to be growing pains but I see this getting better and better every year. also good to see the athletes be taken care of so well.
The Shaw Classic was a great show. I've only been a fan for maybe 3 years, but this was the best show I've seen. The athletes, the fans, and the events were outstanding. Brian and Keri did excellent. I like having an edited version to watch and I thought the show was worth waiting through the server problems, but as soon as I watched day 1, I wanted to go online and see what Uncle Loz and Aunt Liz, The Lalas Brothers, Strongest Fan, That other guy, and everybody else had to say about the show and maybe give my opinion. Then the same after day two. Maybe see someone interviewing Trey Mitchell III after his win.
You hit the nail on the head guys, I was looking for results on line and by the time they were coming out days later I had lost interest and was moving on to other things, I was checking with Big Loz and others and I love strong man but having to wait days, even I moved on and forgot to be honest
We still watch the WSM show, even after spending nights on end pressing refresh on spreadsheets. If you are not going to buy it, not posting the results won’t change that! ❤️ Edit - in fact, chatting about the results is more likely to make people pay to see it??? ❤️
Only the second year of the Shaw Classic, it's only going to get better from here. It takes a lot of behind the scenes work to pull en event like this.
I agree I don’t like waiting and I will watch any event even if I know who won because thare is still a lot of excitement to watch even if u know who won
I am more excited by the giants live show because you can watch it for 5$ if you can't go to the place of the show (unfortunately I had to sell my tickets for the royal Albert hall due to the quarantine when you are coming from France). I paid for the show at Manchester and will watch Europe strongest man show this week-end. But I did not pay for the shaw classic because it was 15$ and it was not even in live. I understand that's a 2 days show but that's too much to and it's a shame that we were not able to at least get the results and see some footage. I agree with you Loz, it has to be improved on that side for next year.
All great suggestions. I feel like Shaw being very calculated in everything he does I'm sure they are slowly learning what worked and what didn't. That way when they finally come out big they won't face to much negativity.
I personally still get hyped even if I do have to wait. @shawstrength you Keri and the team done an absolutely incredible job and should be incredibly proud and hopefully James has had some well earned rest. The traffic making the website impossible to get on was a little frustrating but I do agree a live stream would be good. I personally want to see every single athletes performance for every event. Even in WSM it can be a little frustrating not seeing everyone's efforts in every event. I get the reasons for not doing it but being a die hard fan of all the athletes I want to see it all. Live stream is the way to go and you can also get a live donation set up.
Our dear Uncle "with the right set of events" Loz slowly becoming Uncle "better and better Loz :-) I'm happy to see the gap to 100k subscribers getting smaller and smaller....can't wait for that Talking Strongman video :D
I never understood why they try to hide what happened during the event. It is holding the sport back. I would watch it if it were readily available, but instead find myself searching online to view the results instead.
It was great to see one more Canadian in there. He's pretty young, but he has a lot of potential and no shortage of time. Rheaume wasn't built in a day.
I think Brian should have u guys comintate on it because my kids actually like to hear the infow and background of it from u guys and won’t watch or listen to any othe strong man channel or news other than just watching the event so thanks again for getting my son’s interested in watching this spot with me
Definitely would love to see a rep and timer count on the screen during the video, and yes it would be nice to have the video a bit little longer showing a bit more of the show, I don’t have an issue with the results being released a day or two later if I can watch the show almost live and not already knowing who wins like with worlds, so no issue with the results being released slightly late
@@Mr-qz7ky all that i found was uploaded from a random channel and the footage is blury. Worlds had it up and took it down so quick i dont understand why they do that.
As a fan in attendance I can say theres room for improvement when it comes to times distances reps ect being relayed to the crowd. It was nearly impossible to know standings outside of the top 3-5 that were announced for the event and then the overall. It was so much fun to watch the show in person but, it could have been a much better experience if we were more informed on results during the show so we could have followed along , Timer, rep counter ect. Also the rules for some events I had no idea until I watched the stream such as the 1 drop rule on the super yoke , we never knew about this in the arena. A very expensive general admission ticket (250$) each to watch live and I feel like we were overlooked a little on the information needed to follow the competition.
I watched it online but I think they can solve that problem for those in attendance on watching a stream if they visualise the results at the event (aka put them on a TV) and if need be just stick a camera on that to show the results to the fans watching a stream. With the rules I think you could do the same, show them on a screen as part of the pre-event build-up
This reminds me of when the NBA was on tape delay. It prevented the game from growing at a faster rate. You look at the NBA now and can't even imagine take delay. The best choice is have both options available for the fans to choose.
It's not feasible to have the shaw classic live right now I think. There's so much work that needs to go into that and they're still a small operation. They started the right way by making sure the athletes are taken care of first and then build on that for the future and start introducing new elements to the competition ad the years go on. It's only going to get better. Having a crowd, and developing his own equipment specifically for the show for example was the way they could improve the contest the most this year. So that's the route they went down. And they knocked it out of the park as far as I'm concerned. Maybe next year they can now look into having the contest now live streamed and logistically figure that out. I said this already on your other video but I'll say it again, this was my favourite contest ever. It was absolutely fantastic
Although i understand your points, the issue with Giants Live livesteams is that they always cut out, buffer and have massive issues, thats what stands out for me with the Shawclassic as its a much more refined watch... Giants live cut out during europes strongest man last night right before the stones was about to start, at the worst possible time and it never came back up and we was gutted to miss Luke's win!! Its great to see everyone striving for excellence with strong man shows and hopefully we can all band together and keep progressing.
This is exactly the comment I left on the post uncle Loz put up saying they are respecting Brian's request. This is not how you market, in sales there is a principal that u never recover sales so if u miss a day, the next day u can't approach like I'll make that back, u have to attack everyday. This applies to everything, ppl live in the now, buzz and word of mouth is what grows anything, not letting ppl react in the moment kills everything, look we are all ready for Europes strongest man already, shaw classic is old news, this is 2021 ppl move on hella fast. And the set up of events will almost never be avoidable so just prepare segments to air to fans while that is going on. It could be something from there personal life, some challenge they did before the contest. Ffs let them rract to a funny video or something, it would also give them a chance to connect with fans
Personalities/characters sell, even the commentary was terrible there wasn't any entertainment to it and Terry looked out of place, he didn't say anything insightful and was just chewing on his gum looking disinterested the other guy...what can ya say it just wasn't anything that would make you want to come back, it was just watching guys lift or fail at lifts
I like the harder (brutal?) events. Like you said "It's strongman". I further agree that the events should be spread out over the year. This would allow for more events, more recovery between events thus more athletes competing.
I wish the event would have been out on UA-cam and then the behind the scene videos Brian released on UA-cam could have been the content he kept on his Shaw elite club.
Rogue livestreams all of their events for free on UA-cam. They livestream the Arnolds (Classic and Santa Monica), the Rogue Invitational, and the CrossFit Games. Since Rogue sponsors the Shaw Classic, maybe they can get to the point of livestreaming this event too. I know it would take away the extra money raised through PPV though.
The upside of Strongman is that most of the fans are usually older than fans of other sports, therefore they can afford paying a few bucks more easily.
Great coverage by yourselves again.I personally don’t want to know the results, but would like to watch it live as I have all the strongman events this year. Pay your 15 dollars which is a bargain, we’ve just got back from Leeds Giants Live and spent over £400 each without food or drink. On another note, qualifiers for the worlds 1 hour, then final only one hour,WHY. And is on at Xmas and you try not knowing the result before.Come on WSM pull your finger out.Was trying to get the WSM in next couple of years but now will attempt the Shaw Classic, epic event.

Lets hope that next year they are able to pull the ressources necessary for a livestream :)
the video from this year was worse than last years....
Would be nice to have a timer/rep count and have the actual results rather than just placings in the edited video
I attended the Shaw Classic, when clips from the event came out, I showed them to friends, I only have one friend who is interested in strongman, and while the friends I've shown it to haven't become strongman fans over night, they are now more intrigued by the sport after seeing some of my personal highlights from the event
I've never been less hyped or interested in a competition. Great job Brian. Can't wait for Europe's Strongest Man
Knowing that everything is paywalled to piss pretty much made me just worry about spoilers on the reddit thread and then go about my day. Yay Strongman, the only sport worth watching anymore. If you can watch it for free.
Huh? The athletes need to get paid
They should release clips like all other strongman pages and all other sports
I totally agree, get rid of the exclusivity and this will be massive.
Waiting for the results is completely silly. Not like it even works anyway, I was able to find out the results immediately.
Not only did the waiting not bother me but I love all the BTS stuff Brian is releasing on his channel. I just wish some of the strongmen who vlog like Martins, Oleksii, and Obie were there so we could get even more BTS stuff.
I think the competition was great, I really liked how they took world class athletes to such a small community, the vibe was old school af
It was great. I enjoyed it.
Where can I get myself a ‘hefty’ t shirt? Absolutely love it
Strong man is the greatest sport on earth
Biggest issue with edited versions was the editing need a rep counter or a timer as well as a bit better camera work especially if I’m paying
Yea them trying to make good video the next day with a single man editing it seems foolish. They should have known beforehand that the quality wouldn't be the best putting such a massive job on one person.
@@JaredTG. definitely respect what he did one guy over night edit must have been crazy
@@orlandopockets6372 not really he obviously knows what he is doing look at all shaws other videos but the video should be better
Thanks for the great videos,
Big fan from across the pond.
With the Arnold’s rogue streams it live on their UA-cam channel and the will post an edited version a few hours later/next day
All competitions should be similar to that
@@ronnylarock13 wsm is a much bigger show than giants live rah and they could still put everything on tv at Christmas and get the views from the casual audience (aka most of their audience) and it wouldn’t really harm their sales
massive fan of the sport and super excited to watch the Shaw Classic BUT, i thought it was too expensive for a next day summary video rather than a live stream, so i didn't watch it..
Hell yeah. I'm from Brasil and it gets hard to pay per view. Strongman has fans on the entire world
The Shaw Classic is still in its infantcy, it will continue to grow and get better. Its already pretty good
I agree, early days
I thought the events and weights were great. This way created a clear winner with no luck. Sometimes at WSM the margins are so small that it doesn't seem definitive enough to really know who is strongest.
Yea the fact everyone stays on the competition the whole means they get the chance to compete in events that suit them and there's no accidental bias towards one athelete vs another. Much better way to do it
Spot on critiques.
#StrongmanDoc
im a member since last years event. both shows rocked. it can only get better
Fully agree with Loz here. The event is terrific for the athletes and likely for the attending fans on site. But I would rather have the results from events and discussion going from the start of the competition and watch a better edited video a couple of days later, if not a week later.
The fact the Shaw Classic has generated so much talk in only its second year is a testament to appeal and growth of the sport: Well done to Brian (and team).
it generated more talk in its first year...
I love athletes putting on shows as they are the one's who knows what the best competitions are
I loved the Classic and though the website was definitely slow, once the video loaded up it was great. Best show of the year easily.
I'm really hoping that the other Strongman shows start to feel the pressure from this to have a day by day produced video.
this is why strongman will forever be a niche/underground (in the most respectful sense) sport .
YOU GUYS ARE SPOILING US TODAY 😊🥳🎉
Completely agree, thanks both of you! I paid for the stream, and when I finally got to watch it I really loved the events, the amazing performances and the visuals. Super impressed by Trey. However, 3 things kind of "killed the buzz" a bit for me:
1) knowing the event had already taken place, and having to wait until the next day to watch it and know the results , then the website not working and having to wait another day.
That's part of the sport and has been since 1977.
I loved the Shaw Classic and look forward to seeing it improve next year
I think you guys made a good point.
I really enjoyed how the livestream was on Facebook with Giants at the RAH.
I totally agree. By the time the results were posted the "hype train" had left the building. Keep up the good work and thank you both!
There a wee glint in Loz's eye when Liz says she likes a vertical pull.
Edit - in fact, chatting about the results is more likely to make people pay to see it??? ❤️
@bronchoped1 yeah, but thats not because you know the results, its because wsm is not that good of a contest
Great review Liz and Loz especially about athletes exposure, that is critical for these athletes to increase their earning potential
Liz and I are definitely both part of THE SPREADSHEET GANG! LOL!
Count me in!
I could not watch it because I could not get on website but I still plan on watching it this weekend
Only the second year of the Shaw Classic, it's only going to get better from here. It takes a lot of behind the scenes work to pull en event like this.
I would have been happy to watch a live stream with just a couple static cameras. The commentary was great and they edited most of it out.
I agree I don’t like waiting and I will watch any event even if I know who won because thare is still a lot of excitement to watch even if u know who won
Not gonna lie after 2 days my back was killing me...I'd really like to have a place with backrest. Great experience though. Can't wait to di more!
Can't wait for Europe's .😎
The different time zones can also prevent you from watching it when it airs. So having it out on youtube, you can watch it whenever you want.
Great Feedback uncle and auntie these where my toughts aswell.
Love to see your channel growing steadily 💪👍
I personally still get hyped even if I do have to wait. @shawstrength you Keri and the team done an absolutely incredible job and should be incredibly proud and hopefully James has had some well earned rest. The traffic making the website impossible to get on was a little frustrating but I do agree a live stream would be good. I personally want to see every single athletes performance for every event. Even in WSM it can be a little frustrating not seeing everyone's efforts in every event. I get the reasons for not doing it but being a die hard fan of all the athletes I want to see it all. Live stream is the way to go and you can also get a live donation set up.
Our dear Uncle "with the right set of events" Loz slowly becoming Uncle "better and better Loz :-)
I'm happy to see the gap to 100k subscribers getting smaller and smaller....can't wait for that Talking Strongman video :D
Brian definitely needs a rethink with this Shaw elite club. Good honesty guys 👍🏼
I think Brian should have u guys comintate on it because my kids actually like to hear the infow and background of it from u guys and won’t watch or listen to any othe strong man channel or news other than just watching the event so thanks again for getting my son’s interested in watching this spot with me
i hope the shaw classic continues to improve but still remains "the hard show" , really pushing the athletes and using a variety of events.
Totally agree. I’d pay to watch the livestream.
I agree that would be nice to have results out prior to the video, but on the other hand, I like watching the event and seeing the results.
I still haven't been able to watch Worlds this year.
Also i noticed worlds took the 2020 heats and finals down off UA-cam 🙄 its annoying
I love WSM/ strongman events Why can't I watch these competitions live? I never realised it was so behind closed doors.
Like the set up with the mic in the middle, looks good!!
You are the man Todd, nuff said.
