That spot needs a few dozen more fisherman! 🤣 You gotta love it when people think a single stretch of water is the ONLY place they can hook fish. _I call that 'combat fishing' and I'd rather buy fish at Safeway then deal with all those bone heads stacked like sardines._ #NotForThisGuy
The laws in Washington limit the amount of public access on the rivers. People tend to bunch up near hatcheries, in parks, etc. Used to live in South Seattle (Renton) and did my share of combat fishing until I found places to escape the crowds. Now I am down in Eugene, where the river access laws allow for more public fishing space on rivers and lakes.
Fishing is supposed to be relaxing thing. I live in Troutdale and and would rather stay home then go any place where I'm within 500 ft of another fisherman. This requires me to travel away from the city center, or go out on the worst of days. In my eyes? To protect my sanity? It's a small price to pay.
I used to fish the lower part of the Sandy, but on all but the worst days I find it too crowded. These days I wander up above Dodge Park. I prefer more room because I'm a fly fisherman. I try not to be snobby, but I do find bait fisherman don't understand the space we need. I might start at one place in the river and slowly work my way down 100 yards or so. A lot of guys don't understand how fishing for steelhead with a fly works, so they'll plant theirselves just downstream from another fisherman, not understanding that the fisherman plans on working his way through that very water. Maybe it's because of my old age, but I just cannot stand being around people in the Portland area. Whether I'm at the grocery store or in the river, it just rubs me the wrong way.
Just say no to combat fishing!
Wow, what an amazing Big fish strike, have a happy day my friend 🙏🙏
Thanks, you too!
Wow. That's amazing. How do you all fish without tangling each other. It's tempting to try fishing and even drive 1200 miles to do it next year.
You should definitely come since next year is Pink Season! Every cast you’ll hook up a fish!!
Elbows and assholes. I live here and hell nah

Agreed 1000%
It takes all the fun out of fishing.

@@oregonpatriot1570 Agreed. Used to pass through Troutdale to get to the Sandy years ago.

@@JimboTheMick It's a fun spot if you know what you're doing!!! If you know you know😅😉
@lamichaelspnw Don't get me wrong, seems like awesome fishing, but all the people would just completely ruin it for me, personally.
