I preordered this sling, but ended up canceling after some early reviews came out that criticized the over engineered main pocket. Ended up with a Aer city sling, which I enjoyed for awhile. I've since switched to the Patagonia Atom 8l. I'm 6'2 230lbs and the Aer sling looks comically small on me. I also really love that fact that the Patagonia sling can carry my iPad while traveling.
Frankly a little surprised that you guys liked it so much! Every review and user testimonial I've seen outside of PH has pretty universally panned this bag. The sort of universal complaints are that it's heavy, uncomfortable (and hard to adjust), and that the accordion system can't hold anything that's not flat, and thus is almost useless, and that it's on the wrong side of the sling, so that it flips down when opened while on the body, and things can easily fall out.
Edit: I want to be clear that this isn't a criticism of PH in any way, I love y'all (and I'm a pro member!). It's always just interesting to me how different reviewers prioritize different things. I think PH gives a lot of weight to design consideration and craftsmanship, where some other bag reviewers, like Mountainborn, look more for the bag to conform to their needs and review things with that in mind.
Why do you think they like it? They just describe it. They even mention the problem with items that aren’t flat or that the company wrongly claims the sling to be water proof. I’ve got a good idea what to expect from this sling after this video and I won’t even think about getting this one.
@@dominikg4818 They gave it a 7.1, which according to their criteria is "good".
That's a very valid observation! Love to hear from our Pros on the channel! Thanks for the comment.

@@praxis-cat870 Oh, I see. That seams indeed a little too much.
I also seen a lot of reviews leaning towards not being a good sling, but the material and idea of it being good. Also the accordion is not ideal for the sling style but it working better and making sense on the Black Ember Shadow. Is PH going to review the Black Ember Shadow 26L some time in the future? I would love to see how that review!
Super helpful review. Thank you!
I preordered this as well and basically haven't used it since it arrived. I cut off the ridiculous internal buckle thing and that helped but the internal space is still very restrictive.
i got one and love it!!
Same. Amazing sling.
I was going to order this sling but I’m glad I didn’t. Too pricey for a limiting sling bag but it does look nice though.
This bag is exactly why a hyperlite versa is the most perfect sling in the world
what are you talking about... it's not even advertized as a sling...
I know its too late but for someone still looking for this black ember tks ? You must take this one instead of aer city sling 2 xpac! I give up my aer to second hand black ember tks few days ago. All i can say this is more comfortable to wear compared to aer city sling. But yes a bit hard to acces in main compartment and front pocket but over all its bettee than aer.
Black Ember has made weird decisions that sometimes makes it hard to use their products, but I can’t help it but like their products. This was the first sling I bought and used it for around 8 months and loved it. I have since discovered other products from other brands I find way more useful, but this one is just special to me.
Thanks for sharing your insights! 🤙

Been using the “Blackpill” for my general outings. It provides me ample backup battery (Anker battery, and Mag Safe Battery Pack) change and charging cords for my iPhone.
I also have EDC essentials as well as general dailies like a Olight Baton, Micotech Blade, and others.
Thanks for sharing 😃

I like black ember's take on a sling but tbh it kinda feels like they really tried to figure out a way to make a cool concept into the slowest bag possible. there's an extra layer of abstraction over every pocket and it seems exhausting.
Just curious - would it work better if you swapped the slots for the wallet and gum?
And what if you traded the power bank to the front pocket where the phone should go? Does your phone fit in the power bank pocket, or is it too wide?
Thanks!
Thanks for another excellent review, Tom. On all these security and anti-theft features though, I have absolutely no interest for such a compact pack. I've never had it happen to me but it seems pretty challenging to unzip anything that is on my body while I'm moving. I guess (maybe) it would be of some use if I'm sitting still for a long period in a busy area and not paying any attention but that is a pretty rare scenario for me. My thinking is that a thief would just grab the entire pack and not be so interested in sneaking inside a zippered pocket so all that zipper tucking, etc. is just going to make it harder for me to get access to what I want quickly.
Thanks for sharing your insights, Nathan! 😃

Thanks
Thank you!
great, but, is there a version without those stupid magnets?
How much does it weigh?
Its a Mix of code of Bell x-pac ll + Aer Day sling 3 …. But needs Improvements for v2
Can anyone tell me the min and max waist size for using this in "fanny pack" mode is? I saw one review where they said they could not adjust it small enough to use it in "fanny pack" mode.
May i know the brand of ur bracelet
I sell my TKS. Very disappointing!
👌
Could you share which Anker powerbank is it so I know what size of powerbank I can get in there?

@@PackHacker2 Thank you so much! Have a wonderful week Tom!
That sling looks like no one was using :)
Expensive! 100$
I don’t believe you mentioned the price of this sling and if you think it’s worth the price it’s an OK sling and the review was just OK also .
This looks infuriatingly badly designed.
What wallet is that, Mr Pack Hacker?
That’s the NOMATIC Wallet! 😃 More info: packhacker.com/travel-gear/nomatic/wallet/

So I take it, it doesn't fit a Nintendo Switch 🤣
Fits my lite
If u want the perfect sling, nor cant afford one, just built it yourself. It only cost no more than 5 bucks, with 90% material similarity.
No more drama. No more complain "like a baby. "
