    What about with a dual rotax seadoo application using stators? 7:23

      Not my specialty but I would say toss it out in the FB Group or call support. If you don't get answers I can try on my end.

    Will it work with old two strokes with a stator charging system

      This has come up before and I can't remember what the response was. To be safe I would reach out to support. I'll also do some checking.

    So are these to be considered "drop in" replacements for lead acid OB motor starter batteries and house bank batteries?

      Working directly with support and others at EPOCH. I've asked multiple times and the answer NEVER has been anything other than." Yes, if outboard is 250hp or less, we can confidently recommend them as a drop in replacement."

      So how about a 300-hp engine

    • @Mitz-RI
      @Mitz-RI  7 місяців тому

      @@paulbutter1317 Officially, they say, "Cranking Starter Battery ~ 1100 CCA ~ Compatible with all outboard motors up to 250hp." I would contact support for any motor bigger than that.

    I have been looking for a 12v lithium battery that I could use to replace the lead acid batteries in my 5th wheel (I know you are all about boats, but your review caught my attention). Since this is a starting battery, I was wondering what you think about this battery replacing my lead acid batteries. I would need to use the batteries to start my gas powered generator at times to run the a/c or the microwave. I believe the battery peak discharge on this new Epoch battery should be able to handle the demand from the generator to start it. This is the only lithium battery I have found that specifically states it can be used to as a starting battery. For the most part, it will be used without the generator, but need to understand if putting this in my 5th wheel is a good use case. I mostly do boon docking. Thanks.

      This is an interesting one! I too think this battery would be a great fit! (disclaimer I would reach out to support to see if this would raise any red flags. Just in case...) I know the BMS is extremely intelligent. I don't know if the BPS would freak because Gas Power Generators has a different amp/volt signature than an outboard.

      @@jeffchristensen8343 any thoughts on leaving the generator and going to a battery bank?

      Interesting. Only a few of my outlets are connected to my inverter circuit. Not sure what would be in entailed to change other outlets / circuits over to run with the inverter.

      Definitely make the change to Epoch. I switched my whole boat over. Went from 4 batteries down to 2 less weight and triple the run time.

    Just to clarify, the built in BMS will protect the outboard alternator? And limit the current?

    • @Mitz-RI
      @Mitz-RI  6 місяців тому

      According to support up to a 250hp the BMS has you covered.

    • @leblancexplores
      @leblancexplores 3 місяці тому

      250hp has nothing to do with the charge current. Without these reviewers opening these batteries up we don’t really know. No clue what “peak charge acceptance” means.

    • @Mitz-RI
      @Mitz-RI  3 місяці тому

      @@leblancexplores From the conversations I had with support they continuously say the BMS has all the required thresholds in place. If you reach out to support I'm sure they can provide more specs that might help. I know they did a TON of tested and certification work to get this battery ready.

    So no need for a DC-DC charger, all you need is directly hook the battery to the motor, and it will be charged by the alternator?

      I've had mine for a few months and haven't had to plug it in yet!

    anybody using these as an automotive starter battery with the OEM stock alternator? How can this possibly work if charging profiles are so different between Led Acid and Lithium? How does the alternator not think the battery is full too early given it's floating around 14.6v even when near empty.

    • @Mitz-RI
      @Mitz-RI  2 місяці тому

      The crazy thing is the BMS has programmed parameters to stay within the thresholds. Lead acid and AGM just don't have the abilities. However it is a lot to trust all vendors have it right. Epoch is A+++ for marine!

    • @axscdvfb
      @axscdvfb 2 місяці тому

      I guess few people use this for auto due to cost and lack of a need. If your car battery die you are still on land and can call a friend to jump start you.

    • @Mitz-RI
      @Mitz-RI  2 місяці тому

      A Dual Purpose battery make most sense in a marine environment but could be useful in overlanding. The uses are growing as people continue to test its abilities.

      Thinking if its better to go with two 12v lead acid for my 7.3 power stroke starter. 500$ versus this at 70.d rn.

      Not sure if I have the answer for your question. However what I can add is lead is dead to me. I have more than 12 months on my LiFePO4 Batteries and the power and life of power is a whole new world. Plus with an average of 3000-5000 charge cycles vs lead 600-1500 while lead is cheaper short term it is can be WAY more expensive long term.
