About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

Same for me! I didn't discover them until I was ancient (65), but happy I did before leaving this earth. Funny thing is that when I mention them to other people my age (in US), they have no idea what I'm talking about. Their loss, but there is a LOT of great music from the UK that for some reason didn't make it across the Atlantic.

They used to sell them at the underground market in Camden Town. "The Big Sleep" was also popular around then. I had both back in the early 90s and wore them until they fell apart. Awesome T's!

I am going to assume that Blur was really high when this video was made.
This video was actually directed by their manager. Apparently there were people shaking and moving the weird light thing, and they 'weren't doing it right' so it took ages. I can't remember where I read it tho! Maybe their manager was high... it was the 90's!

I had a blast in the 90s. Late teens and early 20s were the best. Miss that music and fun. Would do it all over again in a heartbeat. This reminds me of the highlight of the mix CD I once made. Loved Blur from go. Truly miss alt or underground college radio. Miss 120 minutes where you could see and hear this stuff.

There are two UK bands from the 90's who are even better, Suede and The Boo Radleys. If you like this you should definitely check them out, oh and Modern Life is Rubbish is easily Blur's best album imo.

Suede and The Boo Radleys are interesting; but much more vocally polished and a whole lot less avant garde
doesn't make them "better" in my opinion;
My preference between the three would def be Blur; hands down.
Blur reaches deep into my soul slaps all the pretentious crusties from my eyes and reminds me of why I am compelled to be a musician.

fucking hell, i'm in such a blur mood at the moment!!! This languid slice of dream-pop indie is such a classic as well. Imagine if the whole album had been this good! I love how different they were when they started out as well. Little did anyone know then, though, that Damon and in many ways Graham too, were the masters of (successful) reinvention. You heard me, Thom Yorke.
