Thank you for this Bible Study! God placed this in my path at the beginning of this year and I’m forever grateful and thankful for it. In 49 days some of us will have read the whole Bible for the first time. I’m so excited as a follower of Christ to be able to say that. I can’t wait to start it again next year and see what our God wants me to learn next year. Thank you and God Bless you and your crew. I love growing closer to God and knowing more about Him and knowing He’s where the Joy is!! ❤️☀️🙌🏼🙏🏼

Whew. My Lord Jesus! He could have spoken up and defended Himself, but He didn't. All because He submit to God's redemption plan to save us wretched human beings! Hallelujah! What a Savior, whose shed blood saved a sinner like me! Praise His holy name!
Wow. We are Barabbas. The link between this incident and what was done in the Old testament to atone for sins is something that I didn't think about. Praise God! The shed blood of Jesus Christ saves me! I deserved death, but Christ paid the price I owed.

TLC, your reading of Matt 27:25 transforms the moment where the Jews shout, “May His blood be on us and our children.” That passage has been used through the centuries as justification for persecution, but it really shows the character of God: His blood is on us; His blood is on me, as the Passover Lamb’s blood covers the door of my life, and saves me from death-yes, just as Barabbas was undeservedly saved. May His cleansing blood be on me, and in me through the Eucharist, and be my life’s blood.

When Jesus died, some pretty amazing things happened- the curtain (which was very thick) was torn in two from top to bottom, there was an earthquake and rocks split, tombs broke open and dead bodies were raised to life (Matthew 27:51).
Matthew 27:54 and Mark 15:39 say that those who witnessed these things exclaimed, "Surely this man was the son of God!"

Jesus quotes Psalm 22 in His final moments.“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?” But I don’t think He did so in despair. For in Him, these last moments, is Hope fulfilled for Psalm 22 goes on to say, “Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. To you they cried and were rescued; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.” And the very last verse of Psalm 22 is “they shall come and proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn, that he has done it.” He has done it.

As I’ve gotten older as a person and deeper in my faith I have to say my heart breaks for Judas. I don’t know why he did what he did. I’ve read different articles about why he betrayed Christ. However, I know I have many times proclaiming Jesus with my lips and betraying Him with my actions. Judas didn’t get eternal life with Christ. I do.

Tara Leigh, I love what you said about the 7th trial being God's, his declaration that it was finished, that Jesus was the perfect sacrificial lamb. But before you even said that, I thought what if the 7th trial is the trial each one of us must decide. Like Lewis said, we all must decide if he is Liar, Lunatic or Lord. But even though that idea popped into my head before you gave your theory, I love that God is the real judge here. The Alpha and Omega, the Truth.

I am continuously amazed with this study. On the surface it seems that it is so simple that you can derive truth but not likely receive deep meaning that carries deep conviction to the soul. How wrong to assume that. I have derived very deep meaningful understanding from many of these short studies. From these, many times the Lord has spoken to my heart about something that was on my mind. I feel blessed to start my days with the walk through the Bible, Bible Recap studies. The studies and Tara-Leigh are such a blessing. Thank you.

Ok, I have a question. Someone had to betray Jesus. That was Judas. So if that was the plan for him since the beginning, could Judas be in heaven? I mean he did what he was assigned to do. Could his “worldly repentance” count as repentance?

Paul in Romans 9:17-18 addresses Pharaoh being used by God to advance His will, and yet, it is the choice of Pharaoh to work against God, just as Judas made his choice to betray God’s son. And Jesus said that it would have been better for him not to have been born. God knew and foretold in scripture what he would choose to do.

I disagree with you connection of the scapegoat. The surface resemblance between the goats in Leviticus 16 and the custom of releasing a criminal at Passover seems coincidental at best. The symbolism of both goats in Leviticus 16 points us to Jesus. Both goats were innocent. Barabbas was not innocent. Both goats took the sins of the people upon them. Barabbas didn't bear anyone's sins except his own. One goat was killed. The other goat was banished into the wilderness. Both are punished for the sins of the people. One punishment emphasizes physical death. The other punishment emphasizes spiritual death ie., separation from God and God's people. Even though He was innocent, Jesus suffered both physical death and spiritual death in our place.

I am sorry to say this but that recap was a mess. TLC you kept referring to content in Luke 23 and John 19 that we have not read yet.

She said at the beginning that this day's reading was very similar to tomorrow's reading, so she was going to cover the first half of the story today and the second half tomorrow, which is why she brought in scriptures from John and Luke today. I hope that makes sense.
