    "Rather then try to understand and accommodate my needs, they want to fix me according to their standards of normal" Totally true. Beautiful work ^.^

    My class should see this. Almost every last one of them has bullied me to some degree but most of them stopped when we entered high school. But three of them continued their verbal assaults and they even increased in severity and frequency. They like to tease me, call me names, and make high pitched sounds they know I can't stand. They tell me to be normal and shave my beard. The classmates who say that can't even grow mustaches. But because of my autism this makes me emotional unstable and since they like cornering I have become physically violent. I don't need therapy or a cure, I need acceptance from the people who won't even tolerate me because I have hypersensitive hearing and large amount of facial hair.

    I hate when I'm looking for documentaries about autistic people and the description says "a mother and her son BATTLING autism". It's bullshit. There is no battling against it. It's not a war to be autistic. We exist and that won't change. There is no need to battle autism. Sure, finding ways or medicine to help those who can never be independent become independent is good, but not erasing autism altogether. This network needs more attention and it definitely needs to become better known than Autism Speaks.

      For real, I was looking for other autistic people, and I saw “iS tHeRe A cUrE fOr AuTiSm?“ I watched the video(because I was disgusted and wanted to see if they were lying or telljng the truth)and it basically said“wElL, YES“I was shocked and disgusted, I swear it made me want to barf, AUTISM, DOES NOT NEED A CURE, WHAT WE NEED IS FOR ALLISTIC PEOPLE WHO ARE FAMILY WITH AUTISTIC PEOPLE TO STAND UP AND COMFORT US, to try to help each other push through the rough times, i’ve embraced autism, i’ve embraced being autistic, I don’t want a cure, the only thing I want is for people to understand me

    Great video! I’m autistic and I agree 100 percent. We should accommodate and accept everyone. Society needs to stop forcing autistic people to conform to neurotypical ways of thinking. We are different and should be able to use our differences to help us. Everyone should be able to be themselves.

    If you want to engage in combat with the negative aspects of Autism, then how about getting better education, medical coverage, social services, housing, career counseling, etc. so autistic people can have a better chance at being productive members of society.

      That's not enough. That won't get rid of the disability coming from a developmental disorder.

    • @burger_kinghorn
      @burger_kinghorn 10 років тому +8

      nutsndoltz Of course it will. Disability isn't necessarily about inherent flaws. It's a mismatch between one's set of abilities and the current environment and tasks at hand. You just conceded that Autism is a disability due to a developmental delay (not the same as halted/stagnated development). How better to neutralize the disabling aspects than to help them develop and utilize their best potential?
      P.S. I am autistic.

      burgerkinghorn Disability is real. That narrative is just from denial. Autism isn't just a childhood disorder. Many impairments can last for a lifetime. Many are already trying to utilize what they have and are improvising. Not all have enough potential to succeed. Why not commit to research neurological treatments/enhancements to reverse one's impairments? I also am diagnosed on the autism spectrum.

    To quote Hans Asperger, "It seems to be successful in science or art, a dash of autism is needed." People who fear Autism should know Autistic people have contributed more to society than what they do.

      yeah let’s not quote a nazi though 😬😬 most autistic ppl who were originally diagnosed with aspergers (myself included) reject the term now and it’s also considered outdated. i would rather not be associated with a nazi eugenicist lol

    • @aspiechan420
      @aspiechan420 Рік тому

      Hans Asperger was a Nazi scientist. He came up with the high and low functioning labels and did absolutely horrid things to autistic children and adults. Ppl like me an ‘aspie’ would be forced to be nazi soldiers/workers. Those less fortunate were experimented on/executed during those dark times.
      The quote is true though.

      @bellaxskyex I never really understood the 'difference' between Asperger's Syndrome and Autism, before Asperger's Syndrome was stopped from being officially used I just say that I'm autistic.
