Unfortunately, FCP Euro changed their lifetime replacement program and it is not for the better. Also Paypal no longer has that discounted shipping option; they terminated that program.
What an awesome tip on PayPal! I hope this modus operandi works well for FCP so us DIY guys can continue to benefit from this cool niche service. I must say, when I ordered oil replace kit from FCP, I added a billet filter housing (that I was eyeing for a while) from them bc it was convenient to order from a single vendor. I maintain 3 cars, so it makes it a no brainer to order at least all the fluids from FCP.
I love FCP. Crazy bastards; God bless them! Good tip about the PayPal returns. I really wish I had thought about that before buying my clutch through them! That’s a heavy box to ship back one day.
Just wanted to let you know I subscribed to your channel based on a few things. I appreciate your no nonsensical bs just straight forward one way only … , the right way or best possible solution. The effort of cleanliness, I just saw your Autotech hpfp install . Great vid btw . Your willingness to share useful information is awesome and appreciated so thank you for that . This vid in particular was extremely informative and awesome. I am currently starting to build my 19 Gti . I bought I.E catted dp , the APR Dtr6054 big turbo, ARM fmic , Racingline DSG cooler , ECS trans/engine mounts . Vargas Turbo Technology oil catch can . I still need to order my Autotech hpfp internals , and figure out a tuning solution. Im not sure if I want to use accessport or Eurodyne Maestro suite 7 I just want to make close to 500whp and not get a check engine light so I can pass emissions. So right now I only have the Nuespeed intake and Awe catback on the car and a bunch of boxes of parts in my room. Anyways your channel is helpful so thank you sir .
Nicer than my video on this..great job showing all steps! I do it exactly the same. The only other thing I do is keep up with it all in a spreadsheet because I have 3 VWs and staying organized maximizes the savings. The only other bit on the PayPal deal is 180 days and 12x a year max so there are some tricks if you have things you keep longer but even before I did the PayPal thing return shipping isn't that much for most items.
Yeah, just noticed this. Pretty shitty. Their reasoning was bullshit too: "At PayPal, we’re constantly updating and developing new features for our customers. Sometimes certain services need to be phased out as a part of these bigger changes." aka, they decided they wanted to make more money by not offering this service.
Just now running into this problem myself this evening. As of November 27th, 2022… PayPal is no longer offering “Return shipping on us”. What a bummer 😒
Given the changes in their policy, not sure the math works out depending on shipping costs of your return. Since you're now issued store credit (vs refund), you effectively have to buy, for example, 2 oil change kits before you'll have store credit to buy the replacement kit. Just today, FedEx and UPS quoted $50-$70 to ship (5qt oil + filter = 13lbs) from CA to CT - negating the credit you receive from the return.
Shame paypal is ending return shipping, least im only an hour and change away from Milford, I could just drop the oil off, and plan on it, just got a DSG kit from them lol
I got mine at a local West Marine because I was too impatient to wait for shipping! lol I've had it for a few years and it's worked great. There are a bunch on Amazon that are pretty good, and popular. 6.5 Liter should be plenty. amzn.to/3zuBEoC I'll see if I can figure out what my exact one is.
Feels like a low risk Ponzi scheme, eventually this system will crush, although at the minimum you’ll always get your product even if they stop honoring the warranty right after you bought the parts.
Would the free paypal return shipping work if you had multiple items in an order? In other words, can you refund two items separately with free shipping?
You buy it. Then you buy the replacement. Then you send back the original. They refund you for the original. So you pay twice, yes, but get a refund on one.
No longer true, well somewhat. They changed their policy, so now you have to buy it twice and only get store credit. Also, since they changed the policy before, they will most likely change it again... Also, old customer like me got completely screwed.....they did not grandfather anything in, which means, ALL of my purchases throughout the years = needs another payment.
First. Nobody has ever asked me what is in the box. Second, oil (according to the EPA) is not a hazardous material. Some people have said they have been told it is, but it is not. It’s perfectly safe and legal to ship.
Thanks for the response. Good to know since your video convinced me that i am no longer taking my R to the dealership for oil changes. Also if this is my fist time ordering oil from fcp- can i fill the empty oil containers with the used dealership oil for the refund or do i have to wait until my fcp oil needs replace to execute my first oil change refund
@@Funguns23 technically you need to return the oil that you purchased from them and then used. I imagine if you turned around and asked for a refund immediately after getting the first purchase they would be suspicious and deny the claim.
@@Funguns23 You can't make a warranty replacement return on the first item in the order. It's the second and every order after that that "replaces" what you bought.
How is this possible.. They must get hundreds of jugs of used oil every day and have to pay employees to dispose of it and give thousands in refunds.. This is how idiot companies go bankrupt. Imagine buying and returning clutches and tires.... And big ticket items
Because there are millions of uses for used oil. They can sell the used oil and recoup those funds. Old Clutches can be refurbished and sold elsewhere, same with retreading or recapping tires. It does not have to state refurbished if it meets those standards.

Accepting used oil and filters for a full refund is definitely not part of their business model, because it's a losing proposition. That's a loophole people are using and they should be ashamed of exploiting it. Sending back used oil to be properly disposed of yes. That's fine. Getting a full refund for oil and filter you used? That's not okay. They don't get back what they refunded when they dispose of your used oil and filter. They lose money every time someone does this.

I’ll give you a good place to start: ua-cam.com/video/NuhcW_PrV1M/v-deo.html
