For me, with audio books, it all depends on who's reading it. Some I can't stand, some I love. I never listen to the whole book, though. When I come across a book that I can't put down, I'll buy the audio book so I can listen to it while I cook and clean. If not, we'll all starve 😂😂😂
It’s weird cause I really liked the narrator of fairy tale but it was just wayyyy too long for me to continue caring 😂

Books I read recently that I'd recommend are The Salt Grows Heavy and Mortal Follies. Salt Grows Heavy is basically fantasy horror of The Little Mermaid x Frankenstein x Lord of the Flies. I've heard mixed things but I really liked it, plus its a novella so its short. Mortal Follies is lesbian Bridgerton with magic/gods making trouble. It was a really fun read and one I wouldnt mind seeing adapted. I'm also halfway through Legends and Lattes and really enjoying it. I wasnt sure if "cozy fantasy" would be for me but a full on fantasy setting where the main issue is "will my coffee shop make it?" rather than "can we defeat the evil villain and save the world?" is actually a nice change of pace. Godkiller, The Bear and the Nightingale, Her Majesty's Royal Coven, Spinning Silver and Sword of Kaigen are the books on my December TBR. I also started the Manga series Witch Hat Atelier and its cute and Im loving it so I'll continue with that as well. I hope you enjoy all the books you read this month and none of them are a DNF!

I almost exclusively read audiobooks. I like that I can read them while driving, doing the dishes, rocking the baby to sleep, doing sudoku puzzles. I also am more forgiving at “missing” little things on audio than I am reading a physical or kindle book-I read so slowly cause I’m always going back or getting distracted.

I love audio books. I can’t do them while exercising though. I like to listen when driving or when cleaning. Sometimes I’ll even listen along while I’m reading the physical book
You should also read the outlander series. That’s actually a really good audible read.
I second Outlander, in whatever form. Though with the caveat that the first book takes a while to get into as Diana Gabaldon really loves her history and tells it in detail.

I think you should start a virtual book club! I can never find a book club that reads books that I want to read.
Why you don't like audiobooks makes total sense! I prefer physical reading but I only have time for a few pages a every couple days so it takes me months to make it through 1 book, whereas I live in my earbuds and have more time to listen to a book. It all depends on what you have time for!
I just finished reading Alexis Calder's Kingdom of Blood & Salt and Court of Vice & Death books. Absolutely loved them and cannot wait for the third book to come out in a few months! I'm going to meet Alexis in April at a book con and get signed books from her, I loved it that much. I highly recommend it if you like fantasy. Definitely a 5 star rating in my reading journal. 📖📖📖📖📖
I just picked up Fourth Wing & Iron Flame recently and need to read those. I'm such a dragon geek that I know I'm going to love them.
I've been reading the Nameless series by Dean Koontz through November and have a couple books left in it, then plan to start on The Christmas Fix! Plan on getting a few others mentioned here as well. I'm very much in a Christmas reading mood.
I didn't know there was a Lessons in Chemistry show! I don't have Apple TV anymore either, I have so many subscriptions and barely used Apple TV. I loved the book, gave me warm feelings and I gave it 5 stars! I mainly do audio books, I have adhd and find it very hard to just focus on the reading. When I listen to books I can do something else (that doesn't require thinking) in the meantime. 😊

I love listening to your monthly book wrap up! I’m personally kindle reader (I love physical books but I am a hot mess and screw the book up. Also I read in weird positions like hiding from people in corners so they don’t bother me lol).
Audiobooks I’m pretty much on your same wavelength. I’ve listened to books that are narrated by the people who wrote it the most. So far my fave book in audiobook for is the Leah Remini tell all about Scientology. That was also short and sweet in terms its format, etc. I wouldn’t mind listening to the McCurdy one! That’s sort of been on my list but I know the content is heavy so I’ve been avoiding it.

I read books in November as I just got back into reading faster and more the past month or two. I read Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Love & Other Words based on youre recs and I loved all of them! I am currently on the Unhoneymooners and am already halfway through I'm enjoying it so much. Can't wait to read more books this month. Idk if audio books are for me either but I do want to listen to the sequel to Unhoneymooners as my first shot lol we'll see. Beautiful look as always!
I also can't do audio books, which bums me out, but I can't actually follow or focus on it. It goes in one ear and out the other. I'd have to be seeing it on the page along with it in order to retain any of it. Which makes sense, since all through school, I never retained info from lecture only. I have to see it.

Same about the audiobooks! They're so slow, and I feel haunted and followed around by a book 😬. I'm not a romcom girl but around Christmas, so I appreciate the inspo! Have you checked out Melissa Hill? She has a lot of these warm and fuzzy Christmas romances out, and her novels are generally good beach reading-type easy cozy romantic reads (they're not all Christmas related). From how you describe Christina Lauren, you might enjoy Melissa Hill. I hope you find some solace in reading in these difficult times! ❤❤🩹

I can’t read audio books either! Try to read One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose. I wish I could read this book again for the first time, my favorite book of the year so far!
I'm also in the camp of preferring reading physical books over audio books, because I hate how slow audio books are and I struggle to pay attention to them. Weirdly I'm fine with podcasts. Also I had to DNF Seven Year Slip because it had a short loan time and I wasn't able to finish all my books in time. At some point (when it gets less popular so it's easier to get) I'll pick it up again because what I did read was interesting. I did manage to read the Paris Apartment, and while I agree that it was easy to guess what was coming, I did still enjoy it. But I like easy thrillers sometimes.
I like to read them in chronological order when possible as I prefer to not know what happens later when reading about the characters.
I mean I typically do too I just didn’t know it was a companion novel until after I’d stared

I read Monsters We Defy by Leslye Penelope. It's set in the 1920's based on a real woman in history but set in a fanstasy heist with African American folk magic. Solid 4/5

I really wish I read assassin's blade first. I tried to read it at the end and i just wasn't interested because I already knew most of the story? I think I plan to revisit it in a couple of years just to refresh my memory of TOG. Maybe after CC3 and the new ACOTAR books lol
Growing up every road trip had an audiobook playing. I don't know why but I just can't follow them or get into it. Instead when I drive if not music I listen to an interview/ podcast. I feel like the deeper the detail the more concentration is required. I would prefer to read it at that point.
Omg THRONE OF GLASS. Gosh it’s been two years. Def read assassins blade first, however imo it’s the worst of the all the books lol. It’s very very slow but I think necessary. I love love love love that series. Gosh the emotions you have for all of the characters. I wanted to reread it as soon as it was over. I still think ACOTAR AND TOG are my top fav series since twilight and black dagger brotherhood.

I read the Throne of Glass series first and haven't read the prequels at all... and as I was reading Throne of Glass I was a little WTF that these random characters would pop up at opportune times, lol. I should probably go back and read the prequels.
I also read Fairy Tale and I liked the story, but I'm not a huge fan of Steven King's writing style. I just don't always need to be clued in on the main character's thoughts and mundane ramblings. He doesn't leave much mystery in his stories.

I love audiobooks But I don’t care for Stephen king books lol at least the new ones. I feel like there hasn’t been anything that beats his classics that are already movies if that makes sense. So maybe it was the books fault 😂

I am from Russia and these books are not available in translation. The last book I read was Where th Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I liked the film adaptation most of all, I literally cried for the entire two hours. The book is also great, but apparently because of the emotions that I experienced while watching the film, it seemed dry to me

Lessons in chemistry was disappointing 😢, the Elizabeth was unlikable . I can appreciate her toughness in being in a man’s world . But I just didn’t root for her for some reason . It wasn’t terrible just didn’t love it
My dnf was the kerri maniscalco/james patterson jack the ripper book. I REALLY wanted to love it but it just didn't hold my attention. Usually I can make myself finish a book just because I feel weird not finishing it, but with this one I just did not care. I started the folk of the air series and so far it is pretty good. Holly Black just has a knack for capturing the land of faerie with all of it's cruelty and wonder. I am excited for you to get into throne of glass. As it is such an intense series, it would be cool to have a more in depth discussion about it! Definitely a "book club" worthy series. Because we all need group therapy to process it LOL jk!!!! ☕️📚🫓🕯
