What does the job market look like there? We're not quite retirement age yet and will still need an income. And is this island livable on a modest budget?
Hi! Thanks for watching! In terms of living on a modest budget, Pine Island is similar to other areas of SW FL like Cape Coral and North Fort Myers, so it’s certainly more price-friendly than other islands like Sanibel or Fort Myers Beach. Homes start in the mid $200s. Like in almost all areas around here, finding work shouldn’t be difficult. There are fewer commercial centers on the island itself, but it’s a reasonable 20 or so minute drive to many commercial areas in the western side of Cape Coral. How did this place do recovering from Ian?
Thanks for watching. Pine Island bounced back incredibly quickly. The Matlatcha area still has a lot of work going on, but Saint James City and the other areas of Pine Island are basically back to business as usual. You’ll still see an occasional home that was flooded and gutted on the market, but they’re fewer and farther between now. The waterfront restaurants and bars are all back and doing well.
be careful. they have a rat problem. especially the flying rats at dusk in st james city.
