After years of owning cats, we got our first dog -- a bichon frisé puppy -- six years ago & have been totally in love ever since. He is absolutely the sweetest, cuddliest, most affectionate pet we have ever had. He's also quite a character and very smart. Couldn't imagine having a better dog.
5 cats and we just bought one little puppy (mix bishon/maltese) ❤ We are in love of him. Just one cat is hissing him. The best decision in our life and for our familie. ❤
Both of these breeds are winners! I had a Bichon(lived 16.5 years) and she was a wonderful pet. As the video said, they are very "flamboyant", and have personalities that match their "clown like" appearance! They are extremely mischievous, love to show off with all kinds of antics and are kind of the "clown princes" of the dog world. They are also very sweet and lovable with a gentle temperament, but if you want a "lapdog" you are probably better off with a Maltese. The Maltese I have interacted with over the years have a much "calmer" disposition, and are happier to just give you their undivided attention. The Bichon can be more "hyperactive" and generally don't like to sit still or in one place as long as the Maltese. The Bichon can also be kind of "bossy", but in their own uniquely charming way! When they want something, they will stare at you with those big black eyes as if they are trying to "hypnotize" you into doing their bidding, and more often than not they get their way! They are extremely clever and manipulative! My suggestion, get one of each!

I had a Maltese dog for 15 years... he was my lOVE!!!! It hurt me alot when he got sick and I had to put him down.. OMG i got really depressed, but I'm better now..and he's in doggie heaven...I miss you SCOTTY..
We had a Maltese named Dixie that lived to 17 years old. When she died I thought I would too. Then we got a 2 year old Bichon named Sophie that has stolen my heart! Dixie is still my princess, but Sophie is my little love nowdays. I would love to have a basket full of Maltese and Bichons.
I had just lost my Bichon at 14yrs old she had diabetes for the past 6yrs & cushings disease for the past 3y lost her eyesight 3yrs ago I just wanted to add that to the possible health problems also I was very strict with her diet & treats so it was a head scratching moment to the vet & me how she got the sickness She was my heart I miss her everyday & always Would I get another Bichon ABSOLUTELY!! ❤❤❤❤❤
i have two malteses and they are my world !! they both are very sweet and were easily trained. if you’re thinking about getting a maltese then do it !! you won’t regret it :)
Definitely the Maltese, today is her birthday so I’ve had her for five years now and she is the sweetest, nicest, loving, cutest, funniest little dog I’ve ever seen!
Both my Maltese x lived well over 17 years. One had no hip problems the other had no eye problems (other than cataracts due to age). Both had teeth problems and regular scale and tartar cleaning is a real requirement, Breath can get bad without proper dental treatment. Yeast infections of the ears was also a thing for one of them. My pure white boy had occasional shakes when excited, but not sufficient to go into the full white shaker/epilepsy mode. Both were a total joy for 17+ years. Smart, full of character, joyful, sensitive and so emotionally bonded that you knew they understood and empathised with you. I wouldn't be here without their emotional support over the years. I am now looking at homing a Bichon Frise and a Toy Poodle x Bichon. I miss the pitter patter of, as you and the AKC called it, "Sheer delight". If the Bichon comes close to the levels of delight my Maltese supplied I will be a very happy man.

Just got a Bichon, she is so sweet, smart, already paper trained at 9 weeks and tells me what she wants or needs from day one. She licks my lip if she wants water, she will whine if she wants a treat. & She already pulled my hand towards a bag of treats to let me know she wanted one. She does this burst run I call it her acting like a nut. Love her already.
I recently got a bichon frise puppy. Shes 2 months old and really loves playing with us. Shes still learning where to potty but shes getting there, she is the most cutest and loving dog to me. I give her my shirt at night and she loves it. She sleeps on it 🥰

I've had both and they're both amazing! our bichon was much for "vocal" however! both very loving and amusing. maltese is definitely likes to cuddle a bit more.

You have done a good job of making each breed seem desirable. Same is true of the previous vid. I love the Maltese because I had one and fell madly in love with the breed. Maybe you could do a Yorkie vs. Silkie and a lab vs.. golden? I think they would be interesting. So far, I love this series.
Bichon frese 100 percent. Am with my fourth one now. This one is different than my other three. She is so cuddly and yet can be so bossy. I love her to bits! Quite the personality
Had to put our BICHON down last July. Digit was 17 and such a joy! She use to go to a therapeutic day with me one day a week and would actually stop the kids from fighting. She was well loved!

I have a little male maltese & he is a joy. He was 9months old when I got him he's a yr now. I thought getting one a little older would be easier but, he hadn't been socialized much so he's very afraid of everything. But I have another little dog 4yrs old & he's such a great little dog he realized the new one needed help & truly my older one has taught her to trust & to be a happy dog. The maltese has watched & mimicked the other one's behavior & even house breaking. My maltese is a great thriving dog in just 3mo. Thumbs up for maltese. My other little one is just a little mix.
The Maltese has won my heart! I’ve had two and loved them so much! They’re very loving, sweet natured, intelligent & easy to train & live with. I just lost my last baby and will forever be heartbroken. Someday, my next Maltese will be a girl💕💗

My Bichon owned me for 15 years until just recently when he crossed the rainbow bridge. They are sweet & sturdy little dogs, but he had a back injury when he was around 3 while rough playing with my parents’ rescue poodle buddy that had about 10 pounds more on him. For years, it bothered him off & on & he would have to rest for a few days. But otherwise, he was obsessed with tennis balls & would run himself silly in my yard, haha. He even associated my yoga mat with “playtime” & would have the ball ready as soon as he saw me get the mat out 😹 He was such a joy to have around & strangers loved him, of course. I’m looking into poodle mixes, including Poochon, Maltipoo, & Cavapoo. It’s hard to not want another Bichon! They’re such great breeds & the non-shedding coat is a bonus.
I got a Bichon puppy 12 years ago. He is in great shape and the best dog I could ever ask for. We did have to redo both knees last year, otherwise no health problems.
I think they’re both adorable in their own ways for me I would have to go with the Maltese but anybody who wants a different type of dog is valid and I hope everybody has a good day I don’t know when this video came out but for me it is the holidays so everybody have a good holidays and I wish you all well
Thanks for the video! I love both breeds, but I prefer the Maltese because they are less prone to separation anxiety than the Bichon. I have a Maltese and he understands that when we leave we will always come back to play with him. They can also live in any living space due to their small size. I love Bichons too but Maltese win this battle because they don’t have too much separation anxiety like Bichons tend to be at times.
From the start I seriously socialized my Bichon with lots of adults, dogs and especially the neighborhood kids. As a single woman I was determined that she'd get what I knew she craved a family of sorts. In later years she became the favorite of my fathers stroke patient hospital wing. Now Im getting a 4 year old Maltese no longer in the neighborhood but hope to get her involved with kids reading to her at the library.
I’ve had Maltese for 42 years. One lived to be 17 another 16 .and so forth. I have only been drawn to Maltese for their personality. They are just so sweet.i think the bichon is more active.i love coming home and sitting quietly after our outdoor run around with them and so do they.

Pure maltese are very fragile if exposed to children. They really love children but kids can be a bit rough. A Maltese cross or a Bichon might be better for you.
Bichon Frise of course! I had Bichon Frise/ Shih Tzu's. Very smart dogs, easy to toilet train, easy to obedience train and the most loving little dogs who give twice as much love back. Loved the pool. They just want to be with you whether you are taking a walk, going to the bathroom lol, or relaxing on the couch. Great doorbells and super friendly.
My dog Chloe wins. She is a mix of both. She has Bichon tail and height. Everything else is Maltese. Shes a watchdog and very kind and adorable. The best of both worlds.
My Bijon is an absolute sweet heart, she is so so loving and sweet. Hard to house train but easy to train tricks to. Lilly has a beautiful personality, always wants to play and snuggles at night.. Dream fur baby, Bijons win ❤️❤️
I love both breeds. They are so cute and adorable. But I’d have to go with Bichon Frise. Because, they’re sturdier and don’t cry as much. I’ve never had a Maltese. But, I saw the Maltese biography video on Dogs 101. It said that Maltese will cry the entire time you’re not there with them. So like, if you work an 8 hour shift. These poor babies will cry the entire time (8 hours in this example).
Lulu 21 OMG! ((∩^Д^∩)) Congratulations! I mean on getting a super duper cute Maltese baby, not on going to school. Hmm, hopefully your new little buddy could be the exception to this rule. I mean, not all dogs are the same, even if they’re the same breed. So who knows? Maybe your adorable Maltese baby could be a tough little guy/girl who doesn’t cry. I mean, my Bichon Frise only cries when we leave the house. But, he stops crying the minute he hears the car get lost in the distance.
I'm going to say a Maltese just because they gentle and adorable because i have a Maltipoo currently and have other crossbreed's in the past like Maltese/Shih Tzu.
My Maltese/Shitzu dog Molly has seizures occasionally and has bad flea allergies. She has also has teeth removed due to her mouth being too small and has developed cataracts in her older age of 12. She’s still lively and playful despite losing her adopted brother recently, Merlin who was the same mixed breed. He had liver cancer and passed at just 8 years of age. Besides that, he had no health issues whatsoever. 😔💟💞☮️
This will be a tough one for me. I had a Bichon since she was a puppy and lived for 17 years with cataracts. She was from conformation show stock. Never wanted to show her but still hung with the crowds around Florida. Every single female that I ever knew was simply there to make people feel good, completely selfless. The males yes but a bit aloof. Mine was a nature swimmer and boater -all types The first time she swam right through crashing 6 foot waves to come to me in deep water I was shocked. She didn't care to cling to me either. After that we did it together often But still hated even a tiny rain drop landing on her head. Found a border collie mix pup in the last couple of years and was comforted when my beloved Bichon died. Fast forward 20 + years and just adopted a 4 year old female Maltese I'll pick up once the Humane Society fixes her. I look at her face in amazement recalling my Bichons. Don't know her well yet but she may be more a diva type. She was never properly trained and very strong willed. Training will be my first task.Just need to keep reminding myself this one delicate. Bought a screened rolling cart/ back pack so I can keep doing my outdoor living with her. Basket for the bike too but need to rig more shade for her. I'm an active 69 but one day I'll slow down and this pup will take it easier than a bichon. Can't wait to get to know her starting Tuesday. Tickled pink I'll have another to groom myself, puppy cut it is.
Can't wait until December 9th when I bring home my new boy Odie (Bichon Frize) 😉😊😉 Although my boy Obbie will always be forever in my heart RIP my precious boy.

For years, it bothered him off & on & he would have to rest for a few days. But otherwise, he was obsessed with tennis balls & would run himself silly in my yard, haha. He even associated my yoga mat with “playtime” & would have the ball ready as soon as he saw me get the mat out 😹 He was such a joy to have around & strangers loved him, of course. I’m looking into poodle mixes, including Poochon, Maltipoo, & Cavapoo. It’s hard to not want another Bichon! They’re such great breeds & the non-shedding coat is a bonus.

I got a Bichon puppy 12 years ago. He is in great shape and the best dog I could ever ask for. We did have to redo both knees last year, otherwise no health problems.

Thanks for the video! I love both breeds, but I prefer the Maltese because they are less prone to separation anxiety than the Bichon. I have a Maltese and he understands that when we leave we will always come back to play with him. They can also live in any living space due to their small size. I love Bichons too but Maltese win this battle because they don’t have too much separation anxiety like Bichons tend to be at times.

I think that may be specific to your dogs, Maltese dogs are notoriously prone to separation anxiety
From the start I seriously socialized my Bichon with lots of adults, dogs and especially the neighborhood kids. As a single woman I was determined that she'd get what I knew she craved a family of sorts. In later years she became the favorite of my fathers stroke patient hospital wing. Now Im getting a 4 year old Maltese no longer in the neighborhood but hope to get her involved with kids reading to her at the library.

I’ve had Maltese for 42 years. One lived to be 17 another 16 .and so forth. I have only been drawn to Maltese for their personality. They are just so sweet.i think the bichon is more active.i love coming home and sitting quietly after our outdoor run around with them and so do they.

Pure maltese are very fragile if exposed to children. They really love children but kids can be a bit rough. A Maltese cross or a Bichon might be better for you.

Bichon Frise of course! I had Bichon Frise/ Shih Tzu's. Very smart dogs, easy to toilet train, easy to obedience train and the most loving little dogs who give twice as much love back. Loved the pool. They just want to be with you whether you are taking a walk, going to the bathroom lol, or relaxing on the couch. Great doorbells and super friendly.
I just got a Maltese!
My dog Chloe wins. She is a mix of both. She has Bichon tail and height. Everything else is Maltese. Shes a watchdog and very kind and adorable. The best of both worlds.

My Bijon is an absolute sweet heart, she is so so loving and sweet. Hard to house train but easy to train tricks to. Lilly has a beautiful personality, always wants to play and snuggles at night.. Dream fur baby, Bijons win ❤️❤️

I love both breeds. They are so cute and adorable. But I’d have to go with Bichon Frise. Because, they’re sturdier and don’t cry as much. I’ve never had a Maltese. But, I saw the Maltese biography video on Dogs 101. It said that Maltese will cry the entire time you’re not there with them. So like, if you work an 8 hour shift. These poor babies will cry the entire time (8 hours in this example).

So who knows? Maybe your adorable Maltese baby could be a tough little guy/girl who doesn’t cry. I mean, my Bichon Frise only cries when we leave the house. But, he stops crying the minute he hears the car get lost in the distance.

My Maltese/Shitzu dog Molly has seizures occasionally and has bad flea allergies. She has also has teeth removed due to her mouth being too small and has developed cataracts in her older age of 12. She’s still lively and playful despite losing her adopted brother recently, Merlin who was the same mixed breed. He had liver cancer and passed at just 8 years of age. Besides that, he had no health issues whatsoever. 😔💟💞☮️
This will be a tough one for me. I had a Bichon since she was a puppy and lived for 17 years with cataracts. She was from conformation show stock. Never wanted to show her but still hung with the crowds around Florida. Every single female that I ever knew was simply there to make people feel good, completely selfless. The males yes but a bit aloof. Mine was a nature swimmer and boater -all types The first time she swam right through crashing 6 foot waves to come to me in deep water I was shocked. She didn't care to cling to me either. After that we did it together often But still hated even a tiny rain drop landing on her head. Found a border collie mix pup in the last couple of years and was comforted when my beloved Bichon died. Fast forward 20 + years and just adopted a 4 year old female Maltese I'll pick up once the Humane Society fixes her. I look at her face in amazement recalling my Bichons. Don't know her well yet but she may be more a diva type. She was never properly trained and very strong willed. Training will be my first task.Just need to keep reminding myself this one delicate. Bought a screened rolling cart/ back pack so I can keep doing my outdoor living with her. Basket for the bike too but need to rig more shade for her. I'm an active 69 but one day I'll slow down and this pup will take it easier than a bichon. Can't wait to get to know her starting Tuesday. Tickled pink I'll have another to groom myself, puppy cut it is.
