    Excellent talk from Dave! Expanding the picture and filling some more gaps in the history of synthesizer concepts and design and, also, putting the record straight about the Creative takeover/ merge and where that ultimately led to.... the sad demise of E-mu and Ensoniq.

    Just bought assimil8or and Morpheus modules, this was really helpful to get started. I had a Morpheus rack in the 90s. Wish I’d never sold it.

    It's been easy to avoid the modular 'thing' up to this point...I am now past that point, sigh...

      @@InTheMixReviews so many BASIC functions with no way to modulate them. but worse than that, when asked if there may be an update or might consider one....they are immediately dismissive and just say no. horrible customer service.

      Do you want it to tell you you are brilliant, perhaps add "you look especially dashing today Mr. T." before whirring off to prepare a snack and a martini for you before the both of you remix some showtunes? As someone who has been in the game, paid his rent with music for 6 years before branching out into multiple interests, but in any case asserting my lengthy
      experience and more than casual knowledge, my imagination fails to offer any reason for arriving at "don't do a whole lot" -- maybe if an asteriod is heading to an unavoidable collision course with Earth, perhaps in that context you have a point, but in a comparison within the scope of similar options, noting the difference between the current pallet of releases by Rossum and let's say Doepfer 100 from late 90s, the unanimous unavoidable response is "evidence of progress from any point of view, using any metric known to metrology or any criterium at least attempting objectivity." No disrespect to Doepfer, I loved it then and still have the kick drum module that everyone loves (except that one neighbor 3 floors down, whose caricature and misanthropic schadenfreude is unfortunately difficult to forget - the buzzkill par excellance - why am I thinking of him I wonder...)

      @@markk.8250 to put it simply for you, Mr words, Salmple crushes it for performance. Assim is just a high quality sample player with little to no features. You can’t even CV fwd/rev play 😂😂😂

      @markk.8250 Місяць тому

      thanks for considering my comment. I looked at your recommendation: Salmple, and yeah, your perspective finally made sense. [yeah, I write too much, but maybe you could offer just a few more words for clarity! I would have just nodded, and went on with my day. Happy I dropped a comment, and based on your reply, have you tried bitwig? My guess is you'd be in feature bliss, doing weird spectral edits and randomizing every minutiae.... Also Rossum does have the cv feature somewhere, maybe the new sp1200? I am not sure, been enjoying his promo materials, asking if I like LoFi... That would be hilarious, since I just equipped myself with RME adi2pro fs r be, 768kbps to meticulously capture old school 4 bit clipped step drums, looking for the jenesaisquoi like WWII cryptographers tortured themselves decoding static. wow. Rossum boasts 24 bit audio quality if that is a thing you consider. Also I admit beeing a noob to sampling, I always used analog, or virtual analog, and the classic roland kit, did it all from scratch without sampling. Not for any reason, trying to experiment with sampling nowdays. Much respect, enjoy the holidays.
