Rossum Assimil8or and Locutus - Omni, Uni, Dynamic, and Chroma Modes Overview

- The Rossum Assimil8or has a new pal called Locutus. Approprate in name, Locutus acts as a communication conduit for controlling the Assimil8or and it's pretty obvious that resistance is futile with this one.
Second in a series, this video is focused on the Uni and Omni modes of the new Firmware for Assimil8or which supports Locutus. The main focus is on the Dynamic and Dynamic II assignments, however, I do briefly explain the Chroma, Chroma VZ and KZ assignments and what usecases they might be good for.
Although Assimil8or is a Eurorack for modular synthesizers, Locutus makes it a valuable candidate for expanding hardware rigs that are centered around a MIDI Sequencer or a DAW.

You Killed it, Thank you!!! Its time for your to release a proper house record.
Hey thanks for these videos! As a newer Assimil8or user, I've been trying to get my head around whether I wanted to pick up a Locutus, and it was kinda hard to tell from the midi sheet and forums and whatnot, but after watching this and your previous video, makes it a lit easier to understand, and I think the answer is heck yeah I should get it!
awesome videos alex
Thank you!
great tutorial! thanks 👍 Can the assimil8r and locutus cope with mpe messages? cheers
Can you do multi and poly at the same time? Oxi One has 4 sequencers in it and can to poly one one, chord on another, multi on another and whatever on a 4th.
Can I use Assimil8or gate and cv inputs to send midi out messages using Locates?
the chroma 8 is for sampling octaves then they get re-pitched only in the small range of each octave instead of across the whole keyboard range.
Oh dope, that’s awesome. Totally didn’t get it haha.
@@alx-106 or alternatively you can have different samples with their zones on every octave , like one octave for Kick , another for Snare etc (I suppose)
@@solarion33 the issue with that one just that it’s not an octave on the keyboard, it’s 8 semitones, so the next sample starts in a weird spot and it’s not consistent. That was the hard part for me.
@@alx-106 then maybe its the setup for accessing every sample on every zone individually ?
I'll be messing with it a bit more when I get the chance for sure.
