I usually don't. I worked at a couple of Italian restaurants & that's how it was cooked. When you order a cheese steak they season it afterwards. I did salt the onions & mixed those in & the American cheese that I use has a little bit of a salty flavor to it. The meat cooks very quickly too & I think adding salt would draw out too much moisture. I've just never salted it first & now that you mention it, I have never seen it done in any of the places I've ordered from & that's a lot of places!
Reminds me of a pepper cheese steak, but we usually put either american or provolone on it. That wounds like it's kind of a cross between one of those, a french dip and a stromboli. Sounds delicious! I'm getting hungry! You could whip that up!! Just cook the onions and peppers, as I did the onions in the video and then put some fresh deli roast beef with that in the dough I used and get some au jus in the can. Boom! YUM!! I may have to do that right now! :)
It's actually just called Roast Beef Sandwich Steak. I get all of my meats from a meat distributor. I know you can get them in the grocery store in the freezer section & the brand I used to buy was called Landis. It was in a clear plastic wrapped package.
Yay Philly!!! In my experience, sauce & cheese are usually in calzones & pizza turnovers, which are baked & in Panzarottis, which are fried. They can have meat/veggies in them too. Stromboli doesn't usually have sauce in it, but is a combination of cheese, usually mozzarella or a blend, & meats, like pepperoni, ham & salami or steak, like this recipe. Sometimes vegetables are included, like peppers & onions. The dough is rolled or folded over & sealed, then baked. Where do you get yours!? :)
Do you think you could make a beef roll? Have you ever herd of one? I grew up in Illinois and moved to Arkansas I've not been able to find anything on the web. web. It is roast beef, onion, green bell peppers, and mozzarella cheese wrapped in a bread dough, and served with au juice on side along with fries. So good hope you can help.
I'd add mushrooms instead of onions. Also, heated marinara sauce is what I use for dipping. Ketchup, well I'd probably use that for a cheeseburger stromboli. But this is actually pretty good and looks delicious.
Simone Musil I haven't had this in a while! It is soooo good and easy to make and everyone goes crazy over it! Please comment back and let me know how you liked it! Thanks for watching! Diane ;)
I would have thought such a buttery dough would be too delicate. I make these but I make my own Italian dough. I would have to buy too many tubes of that stuff lol But you gave me food for thought bc next time I'll make brioche dough ( which is buttery) so it should be good. Love your channel. :o)
Mz D I appreciate your effort of trying to replicate a cheese steak Stromboli from Philly but it not close to the real thing I know I'm from philly if you take of the philly part you might have something like a minute steak Stromboli besides us from philly know the difference
I lived in Philly for the better part of five years and all the Stromboli I ever had was rolled up like a cinnamon roll, that looks like and oblong Calzone. =)
Just to clarify, the steaks are high quality, thinly sliced rib eye steaks. The meat was purchased from a quality meat distributor in Philadelphia, that distributes to fine restaurants and hotels. Thanks for watching! Di ;)
Nope, the most important thing about a philly cheese steak is the cheese. I use to eat at Pat's whenever I was in philly doing delivery's back in the late 80's. There they would mix the cheese in with the steak as they cooked it. Not like other places that would lay the cheese on top AFTER it was done. P.S. you ruined it with the Ketchup. YUK.
I dont know how u ate that before u went out.I would have felt so fat the entire night.I always starve myself for 3 days before a big party or event. You look cute in ur outfit
Making your own dough is very easy and takes about 8 minutes. There is no excuse for NOT using your own dough, otherwise you are eating chemical preservatives and bleached flour which is not healthy.
That’s NOT a real philly cheese steak Stromboli! Make Dough with pasta flour! Cheese is a blend of mozzarella, provolone, American cheeses! Some nice sautéed onion

Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Tried it last night to test it out before the game. YOU ROCK! More please!

looks so yummy! Going to have to try this sometime. Loving the idea of using the store bought dough.
I have some great stuff to choose from and will be adding more by then, so I'm sure you'll be making her something yummy!
I just ate that small piece and then wrapped the rest up. I do the same thing! :) TY!
It is incredible! Really easy too! Thanks for subscribing!! :)

Di, I LOVE that you used Pillsbury - ha ha ha! it makes me feel better because I love it and use it all the time! Thank you for a fabulous recipe!!!
Clever, and it looks fantastic. :)
You need to be on television... Just an inviting warm spirited person.
Thank you! ;)
Thanks for the easy cheese steak recipe!!!! Will use on Feb 3rd
Okay ms.Di so since ur from philly like me & u live in jersey I have to have some of ur food lol looks so yummy
SUPER BOWL!!! Perfect!
Love that it's quick and "semi-homemade"! I would add green peppers and mushrooms. True phillies have more than onions. Ketchup???
Wow, that looks great Diana. Great idea. I remember your last video. Hate burning my mouth too. Thanks for this

I ❤ your show!
Awesome 👍
That looks really good. I think I would add some Italian seasoning and use some type of steak sauce with mine.
Nice I'll try it
Thanks
That really depends on what she likes. I love chocolate, so I'd like my chocolate cupcakes for dessert! What are her favorite foods?
Hey Di...quick question Is there a particular reason why you didn't seasoned the meat as you were cooking it as opposed to seasoning it after?
I was with you all the way until the Ketchup. LOL I think I would have sauteed some mushrooms with the onions but I love mushrooms in a cheese steak.
I was lookin 4 this comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm here! That's so nice!
looks very good
Provolone or cheddar and I like A1 sauce with mine cause it is steak. Looks good tho 👍🏻
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! :)
Philly girl here ❤ New sub I love your style girl
thank you....loven your channel!!!
Looks great can't wait to try! I like dipping my Philly in Catalina dressing instead of ketchup delish either way!
looks good ima a philly girl 2 but I'm in Dallas now lol
Try this! You won't be disappointed!
Di, this looks so good! I want to bite the screen! My family will love this. I will go to site later. In the meantime, what kind of steak you use?
I would have thought such a buttery dough would be too delicate. I make these but I make my own Italian dough. I would have to buy too many tubes of that stuff lol But you gave me food for thought bc next time I'll make brioche dough ( which is buttery) so it should be good. Love your channel. :o)
You look very nice... Im really gonna try this thanx
loved it awsome
Isn’t it traditional to use Green peppers? With Any New York Philly cheese steak.
Ok, I follow you now. This is really good and easy to make. You should try it! Thanks for subscribing! :)
I love your out fit more than your philly steak stromboli...
From Philly eating a cheesteak stromboli right now while watching this video
It's super EASY and Dangerously Delicious! Everything I love about food! Make it for your next party or fast food night!
Mz D I appreciate your effort of trying to replicate a cheese steak Stromboli from Philly but it not close to the real thing I know I'm from philly if you take of the philly part you might have something like a minute steak Stromboli besides us from philly know the difference
Not sure I know what you mean about Guy sending you here.
I lived in Philly for the better part of five years and all the Stromboli I ever had was rolled up like a cinnamon roll, that looks like and oblong Calzone. =)
so easy, simple and cheap to make. Do you know how much this would cost if ordered in a pizza shop?? At least $15 for this. Amazing. Thanks Again!
Steak ums and crescent rolls..... Sorry but not even close.
I cant get a steak to shred what kind of steak is that
every one is using pizza.d.you using c,d and seems to b better you rock d,keep up the vids,
+Randy McKissack It's easy to make and the dough is very light. Thanks for watching and of the kind words! Diane
Harlem Highs Skool?
Everything looked perfect (minus the ketchup).
Interesting recipe, however it looked like Steak ums were used for the meat. That stuff is sub standard for a Philly Cheese Steak.
Just to clarify, the steaks are high quality, thinly sliced rib eye steaks. The meat was purchased from a quality meat distributor in Philadelphia, that distributes to fine restaurants and hotels. Thanks for watching! Di ;)
Good to know, then I would say this is a premo sandwich.
It sure is! We have some of those steaks in our freezer at all times! lol Thanks soo much for watching and for your comments! Di ;)
You are most welcome, new sub.
Why not use canned pizza dough instead?
Nope, the most important thing about a philly cheese steak is the cheese. I use to eat at Pat's whenever I was in philly doing delivery's back in the late 80's. Pat's and Geno's are tourist traps. No one in Philly eats there.
BloozeDaddy exactly
Yes Pat and Genos are not good cheesesteaks at all and I’m from Philly..Max’s or Jim’s
wheres the pizza sauce? i am from philly 2
i think the best philly cheesesteak is made with cheese whiz.
There is an error in your demonstration. You refer to the dough sheets as Croissant but they are called Crescent,
I dont know how u ate that before u went out.I would have felt so fat the entire night.I always starve myself for 3 days before a big party or event. You look cute in ur outfit
After seeing you're beautiful face and wonderful personality,I had to watch this video about 3 times ,just to see what you we're making!...wonderful!
I REALLY don't know what that is BUT it's not Stromboli ..... Not even close
Where is the tomato sauce, pizza sandwich type.
I see no cheese after its cooked.
Try mayonnaise instead of catsup!
Yes! I actually like a little ketchup and mayo on a cheesesteak hoagie. #Mmm
The best!
That's not really a Stromboli though, that is like a very long Calzone or any kind of filled dough.
A Stromboli is supposed to be layered.
That’s crescent dough, not croissant dough 😂
Croissant is French for Crescent......
Making your own dough is very easy and takes about 8 minutes. There is no excuse for NOT using your own dough, otherwise you are eating chemical preservatives and bleached flour which is not healthy.
Perforations. Not Preforations
Minute steaks are NOT Philly Cheese Steaks.
Hi,
FYI... American cheese...IS NOT CHEESE...it's Cheese Product...... It's 45% cheese...55% chemical BS
Love from Turkiye ( not Turkey ...TURKIYE )
Mfhm
At least she used a real onion.🤢
That’s NOT a real philly cheese steak Stromboli! Make Dough with pasta flour! Cheese is a blend of mozzarella, provolone, American cheeses! Some nice sautéed onion
"I got changed real quick", said no woman ever! Oh the vanity and lack of self-confidence!
If you were from Philly you wouldn’t be saying “Philly cheesesteak”……
Yay Philly!!! In my experience, sauce & cheese are usually in calzones & pizza turnovers, which are baked & in Panzarottis, which are fried. They can have meat/veggies in them too.
