    I appreciate your simple and honest review. I'm willing to bet that the failure to feed issues were from a lack of proper lube. Usually whatever oil the firearm has on it is simply meant to protect it during storage, not to be run with.

    The hang up on the slide not going into battery is likely from the cekacote finish. At the price point it'd be nice if they ran flawlessly out of the box but it's not the case. Oil oil the slide rails rack the slide 1000 * clean and it'll run.

    The screws for your optic are a little too long. That's the daylight issue on the plate. I had the same issue with a venom viper. Just filed the screws down about a 1/4 inch and now fits perfectly. No light showing through at all. The screws that mount the optic to the plate are pushing up on the slide because

  • @charlesward7584
    @charlesward7584 2 роки тому +1

    During the video you had mentioned being able to see daylight between the optic plate and the slide. I had the same problem after mounting my red dot. Double check the red dot mounting screws (not the optic plate screws) to see if they are too long. The threads in the plate are shallow and if the screws are too long it pushes the plate up away from the slide as you tighten them up. All I did was mount the red dot to the plate first to see how much the screws protruded past the plate. I then trimmed them as needed to be flush with the bottom and reassembled everything.

    Very typical for a brand new 1911/2011 to need a break in period. I’ve seen that exact failure to go into battery on new Wilson combats and Dan Wessons. After 500 or so rounds the moving parts start to polish together and slide even smoother. In my experience Springfields are always tight, which I like because either through manual polishing or use the parts will be polished and fit together, overtime creating almost a handful it gun.

    I'm a huge fan of Springfield's 1911's I own at least one of the vast majority of their offerings new and old so when I heard they were finally doing a 2011 I had to order one. It's nothing to drop $2500 to $6k+ on a 2011 so for them to bring one to market at this price is kind of crazy... I've already heard of some people having problems but one thing I've learned already owning a few 2011's is they can be a little finicky but I have really high hopes for this one!!!

    I’d love to see someone do a complete tear down on this pistol. I’m glad that SA came out with a 2011 even though they called it a 1911DS. I’d also like to see 1,000 rounds ripped through this gun. I don’t expect them to get everything perfect right out of the gate as this seems to be the norm now for most new guns, but in 6 months the batches being produced should be pretty good and I’m sure the after market parts suppliers will be chomping at the bit to replace any inferior parts.

    I got to shoot one of these, iron sights, at practice this evening. I normally shoot optics. I ran the Prodigy for 2 runs through the plate rack at 15 yds. Even though I had to tilt my head back to see the front sight through my readers, I shot it accurately. It runs very smoothly, the trigger felt nice to me (I don't own 2011 or 1911 pistols), the recoil impulse is very soft -- I could tell that if I owned one I could get it to run fast, and better shooters could make it very speedy. I'm tempted to get one but I'm eager to see how the first run plays out among the current user pool.
    The guy who brought the pistol to our practice today, he brought it straight from the store. Several others shot it before me. The owner was using his own reloads on brass used many times already, and a few rounds bound up a bit upon entering battery. You could see the ring left on the brass, suggesting it was a bit bulged where it bound up in the chamber mouth.

      I don't remember the guys name but he did a video on the prodigy and what he concluded was that the Cerakote is the problem and he sat down in his chair and oiled the slide and frame and cycled the gun 250 or 300 times cleaned and then kept repeating that for 2500 to 3000 cycles and now it's his everyday carry I think he even used simple green at some point. It only took him one day. Now the gun is flawless. I'll try to find the video.

    Why, didn't the slide lock back on the empty mag? That's important for someone that is going to carry this as an EDC.

    For the price difference between this and my Staccato C2.....well I could've had a Ferrari of a pistol.
    The grand difference will get you a performance trigger, replace the MIM parts and possibly get an Aluminum Grip module.
    If I'd known these were coming out I would've waited.

    Now this is my type of 1911. Or should I say, 2011.

    • @driftitlikeyouownit
      @driftitlikeyouownit 2 роки тому

      Honestly springfield called it right. It's a 1911 hi capacity. The reason I say that is because the top of the slide is rounded like a 1911. The 2011's are flat on the top of the slide. The serrations on the side of the slide are 1911 deep and there are no weight reducing ports on the slide.
      Springfield designed this gun for a 1911 user specifically because it weighs, shoots and functions like a 1911.

    Right now you can't find one for under $1700.00, and for most people the only place to purchase them is on gunbroker since only a few dealers in the country even have them. Some are running as much as $2700 for buy now option. Once you buy the Hex, pay your tax, and transfer fees, the cheapest one will cost around $2200. For that price I'd rather purchase a Staccato P with no optic. If you do slide cuts and a trigger job to the Springfield to make it even close to the quality of an out of the box STI, it will be more expensive than an STI. Best to just wait until dealers stop marking the price up like a bunch of idiots, or just buy an STI.

    its like 1499 msrp for a double stack vs 799 for the ronin. The Emisarry is like 1349. if just have to have it in double stack or are john wick SA make more affordable options imo.

  • @3onthebeach
    @3onthebeach 2 роки тому

    The beauty and uniqueness of a 1911 is the .45 acp otherwise why bother? We all have numerous double stack 9's for 1/3 of that price.
