@curlyfryactual as a former fighter I def agree. By the age of 26 my head couldn't take the shots anymore. I was told I had a hard head and to take a punch so I could dish out havoc. Those were horrible trainers but looking back my reaction time was very slow so that was the only way I could win. You live in Canada by chance??? I'm now a trainer and I've learned so much more.

@curlyfryactual I think they used me up cause I was always sparring pro's. Mind you I was a crusier weight and these guys were pros that weighed much less. But they were Champs and i was a kid. My head will never be right but that's OK. This is what it took for me to be a man and not be bullied anymore. I thank God for every punch that made me the man I am 2day.

As for clenbuterol Erik Morales, Francisco Vargas, canelo 7 other boxers and 10+ Mexican soccer players popped for traces of clenbuterol so WADA had to investigate and turns out reports of Mexico injecting it's cattle with clenbuterol was true and that would explain 20+ Mexican athletes having traces of clen so WADA raised the legal limit by a fraction for all countries since China was also having this problem with it's athletes. it was actually a bigger issue than little canelo Álvarez but the boxing community is so dumb combined y'all have an IQ of 50 so you never researched any of this 😂

I try to replicate his style of
Mexican Boxing, by being a pressure fighter who loves to counter punch, constantly cutting off the ring while walkig down my opponent, bringing my rear foot forward with a tight high gaurd followed by my lead foot. The high gaurd traps as well are purely top level, the high gaurd jab mix up and the high gaurd distance deception constantly baits shots which sets me up for counters, I condition my opponent with certain punches to see how they react then switching it up with feints to draw out the expected reaction to then throw big power punches, putting my entire bodyweight into it. The feints and set up constantly keep the opponent thinking and the mix of different looks with different stances always keeps my opponent wondering. My head and forearm control when up close is used to prevent counters after throwing a combination, overall this style is class and with more sparring experience with this I'll be able to develop it even more.

Excellent analysis and film footage. Really nice work putting this vid. Together.
One of the best boxers ever. You touched on the point that make some masters at their craft, whatever it it.
Canelo said when he learned something new, I would think about it all the way home, I would think about constantly, while I’m sleeping. If you ever meet someone who is a master at something they will have this trait.
The ability to perform the task well, a love of refinement and perfection of the task, a drive to constantly improve.
When this all comes together they say the person is gifted and may become a master.
What I saw watching all Canelo’s fights from the start,, was that he was always improving. Each fight was better than the last one.
Canelo is a master and boxing fans a lucky to live in a time when we can enjoy excellent camera work an coverage and discussion like this about his mastery of the game.

I know what you mean but there's no such thing as African-American style. Matter of fact most black American boxers don't even have that style. Defensively responsible & elusive being some of the main qualities. @@phoraonesinatra Yes but you also understand that most Black American fighters aren't like that, right? The term a lot of people use to describe that style is a "slick defensive fighter". But the reality is that most aren't like that. The only country that comes to mind where you can say 90% of boxers have that style is probably CUBA. But the US is not that. People just like to use labels to create groups and identities but that's never been the reality in US.

No style is perfect. No boxer is perfect. But Canelo has proven that he is great, and that his boxing style is top notch. Like any style, it is best epitomized by a boxer who combines his natural attributes into said style. Or more accurately, crafts a style that is based on his unique attributes. Examples of this would be Ali (long moving style to match his frame and disposition), Marciano (crouching with power/pressure and supreme conditioning), Tyson (explosive power designed to slip past punches coming at him-AKA-Peekaboo), Mayweather (deftness and speed behind high shoulder), and of course Canelo here who has fast-twitch explosive muscles and a defensive style designed to allow for those explosions to land on target.

Don’t dare compare plant to mayweather. Canelo tried the same hand probe on Mayweather however, mayweather would instantly move his whole body out of the way or counter with a short left hook when canelo was loading up the right hand… also planted would fold down with his shoulder roll, compared to mayweather leaning all the way back outside the ropes staying out of range.

So a king can’t loose all time greats lost during their primes and came back stronger canelo included after his lose to mayweather he came back better plus canelo needed a little humbling let’s be honest your ego definitely inflates after you stop or dominate your way to undisputed his plan was becoming to predictable he didn’t even have a backup plan for bivol

So accurate. I was a pretty big canelo fan until he went on that run through billy joe, Caleb, and calum. He got way too arrogant.I started following Bivol before their fight and I declared at that time, you can check my post history on YT, that Bivol will be too much for canelo. Bivol does the little things PERFECTLY. His defensive/offensive footwork rhythm was something canelo had 0 answers for except to punch Bivol in his deltoids. I’m nobody and I could see the writing on the wall way before they fought but canelos crown made him blind.

I know all Canelos tricks and techniques: The feints, his head movement, his power punching, including the secret contracts, his ways to avoid other mexican and power punchers like Ramírez or Benavides and his fantastic tricks to beat heavy bags like Chavez JR. or Perro Angulo... One of my favorite is his trick to make fights when fighters are old or almost retire. But the best trick of Canelo is that very very special delicious Mexican BEEF he likes to eat, that's the most important part of his boxing game.

Yes canelo has evolved from fighting everyone to ducking everyone these days and lackluster stamina only looks good against fighters with no power and no movement now his best style is duck style dont fight Mexicans (( but fought many before 30 of his wins are fighting Mexicans dont fight boring fighters dont
Fight this dont fight that .. canelo fans now rather him just win instead of fighting tough opponents im a boxing fan not a canelo fan coming from a ex canelo fan he’s from 1 to 10 a 7 as a fighter every time real competition comes he ducks or he loses or they hand him a draw ..
