Unclogging a shower drain with a DIY sewer jetting kit

- *EXCUSE THE VIDEOS PAUSES* This was probably due to errors my phone and SD card were having that I found out about after the fact. I have found my new favorite thing to unclog drains with. A 3100 PSI pressure washer and a sewer jetting kit. When my drain previously clogged chemicals and snakes didn't work. So I bought a sewer jetter off ebay and went for a hail mary before involving a plumber. This is it's second use. I have a nozzle for it with revolving jets I will use to try and clean my main 3" sewage line in an attempt to reduce the number of main line clogs my house has in a year (50+ year old line). For the video I had to employ my oldest to hold the camera, hence the extra conversation.
So I've only used this pressure washer one time. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP The one time I used it, it worked great. I recently had new siding installed but kept the old gutters and small areas surrounding my house that weren't replaced so they looked horrible and dirty because of the new siding. I needed to get it cleaned asap. When I used the pressure washer, man it just melted all the dirt and grime that was on those areas of my house. I used that krud kutter soap and it was over after that. Easy to assemble, feels durable, very simple to use. Also, I purchased a used one to save money and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I want to get more use out of it so I think I'll be washing the cars and update this comment as time goes on.
I would have thought this was amateur plumbing, but that plumbers crack proved me wrong. I now have confidence this is a quality product.
😂
Lmao
You’ve a good eye my friend. A very good eye, and a decent sense of humour too. 🏆
Haha
Lol. They make different nozzles for penetrating and or flushing, and there are drop head style to make it easier to go thru traps.. also try looping the hose, try to turn the hose 360 degrees back and forth and you’ll get all the way thru
after it starts turn off the choke?
LMAO, I got recommended this vide and I just cleaned out my french drain with the exact Ryobi pressure washer. I wore flip flops too.
Any links on the hose and spray nozzle?
My concern with using this indoors is it blowing water back in the house
please tell me what jetting kit you have
Do You know there's a trap?
Also if you live in the U.K. there is a company called "Karcher" who markets similar product.
I have tried your idea but my sewer jet will not feed thru like it did in your case. could you please tell me what products your are using exactly and I will try with the same again? I really liked your idea and don't want to give up unless I have tried what you have used. Your help is appreciated!
I have done home sewer jetting and wasn't able to go through the pipes in the house. I ended up going up on my roof, using the roof exhaust vent to feed the jetter down and that did the trick.
I am thinking of getting one of these to clean my kitchen sink drain, but it has quite a few 90 degree bends. Will this get through the 90 degree bends ok in 1-1/2” drain pipe?
Yes there fantastic. I own quad plex and the pipes need to be replaced but it being in a concrete slap, the only way to do that is pipe relining. I bought two pressures washers a Gas one from Walmart and a Sunjoe commercial electric . For the main lines I use the gas one and 1/4 Jetter hose and for the kitchen sink I use the 1/8 jetter hose . Sense I live in one unit myself I have saved thousands of dollars and have to clean the main line once a year. The sewers need to be replaced on my street which I think they are getting around to start doing. Its much better than a Auger and its not hard to go around corners the things power pulls it around most of them .
What's the name of jet kit
This is exactly what I was thinking of doing
Good team work!
where did you buy the kit? what is the model of the kit?
where did you get the brass fitting for the hose? i got one off amazon there is no brass fitting?
Too late man !!!... I can't unsee that crack !!!
LMAO !!!!..
Where you buy the hose and the jet head? Thank you
went to lowes got everything i need plus 100 foot for my french drains
At 1:10 in you show the head with the metal on the hose.. Somehow it looks like it wouldn't even fit through a new empty tub trap, 1 1.5" is just not big enough. Where i got through everything with a 1/4" cable rubber core and gorlitz machine.
How small are your shower drains dude? That thing would fit through a 3/4" trap
Looks like a nice device, do you have a link on where you bought it? I'd also suggest you treat your pipes every three months so you don't have to jet it as often.
Never made it past the ptrap. Missed cleaning the remaining 90 percent.
I would use rubber gloves this connects directly to your toilet its the same as if your doing the main drain
What is the name of the kit? Where did you get it?
I use this one and it works like a charm. Paid for itself in one use:
Sewer Jetter - 50 FT JetSnake Drain Cleaner for Your Gas Pressure Washer
What water jetting kid did you buy?
Thanks ,, it did help...
Usually the shower and toilet drains are tied together in the bathroom. That hose just went down there. Don't bite your fingernails. Go wash your hands.
is this attachment avail at home depot? Great vid...
Fletch Lives Daily don't know, got this sewer jetting kit from ebay.
ccg711 thnx, i ordered one on amazon today. hope to do the trick...
Good job "Pickle Foot Spanky"
does this snake make 90 deg turns in a 1.5" pipe?
Whoever did his siding didn't do it correctly, that corner is horrible. There are youtube videos for that.
He's gonna blow the tub waste and overflow apart lol
Is that a fact or an uneducated statement?
Cool,Many ways to skin a cat.
En el método hidrojet, la tobera se introduce , desde el punto de descarga, hacia la obstrucción para lograr arrastrar la obstrucción, hacia el punto de descarga y retirar la obstrucción. En el vídeo lo estas haciendo en sentido contrario.
In the waterjet method , the nozzle is inserted , from the point of discharge , to achieve the obstruction para v Drag the obstruction , to the point of discharge and the obstruction Unsubscribe . In the video you're doing it the other way.
Saludos desde Argentina¡¡¡
what a great comment! thank you so much for the tip!!
blame the wife....hahahaha so true long hair.....drain clear...wife happy now....cool
Idk what your Clearing but it’s not the drain that’s the drain assembly but it’s not the drain🤦🏾♂️
@GunnyTheGrey exactly !
The overflow still goes through the trap or you would get sewer gas out of it
When my Tub and Kitchen sink get draining so slow that they need to be unclogged I've just been using a plunger and it works great.
It's a Honda, does she ever not play nicely?
I wonder if there is a trap under there, because that hose should have easily gone in 50 feet. If you made it through the trap it would have flown down the stack, 8 -10 in makes me wonder if thats the trap. A TY that head should make it through.
Save the headache, call a regular snake guy next time, most give free quotes and guarantee their work.
The only thing i couldn't get out was shampoo caps and toys.. O got a freaking tube sock maybe from Shaq so big.. I told the customer that she has the cleanest line ever, because look at the size of this sock that came fthough everything
Over kill
@4:00 plumber crack 😒
ummm yeah you never got pass the trap . all u did was clean the u lol u can't jump a trap with a hose busy leave it to the pros like myself .
pros cost money. I'm betting with the age of my house that I have a drum trap anyways, based on the advice of friends that are pros. so I didn't count on getting all the way through the trap. I just wanted to clean out what I could as opposed to tearing up walls and cement slab to replace an old trap. it's a stop gap, and I knew it.
I think I have tree roots in my drain, or a partially collapsed pipe, or both. I am guessing Sumal Ash, Eucalyptus, or Chinese Dingleball Tree roots encroaching on the fitting where it hits the 4" main Y drop. I rented the Super Vee for doing the kitchen, and that's done, cleared and freed from impacted composted food to pretty wide open. There was the most vivid yellow mold growing in the pipe. If man could replicate that color, it would look nice on a Ford Mustang. That Super Vee or a water jet is not going to chew through Eucalyptus roots, or whatever that horrible dingleball tree was that sprouted like a 50 foot weed off the neighbor's illegal gray water drain. It just jammed about 6-12" from the drop to the 4". It might be partially collapsed too. It could be "HAMMER TIME". Slab on grade construction sucks ass! Those two most dreaded words, "SLAB LEAK!" (usually it's the hot water, too) I'll try a bigger machine on it, maybe. If you can spell "plumber" in Arizona, you can be one. You don't have to know sh*t about plumbing either. Pay the ROC to take their business law test, pay into their "customer reimbursement ""fund"" and they will give you a license to go out, screw stuff up royally and you can charge people money for doing it. The house can be flooded with a gas fire bubbling up in the kitchen, wile wires are arcing in the attic, and the ROC will back you up all the way, so long as your account on their "fund" is paid up to date.
I bet hes more of a pro than you, I know for a fact you can get through a trap with a lot less than that, just stick to memorizing what way shit flows bud
Drum traps?,I rip them out and update,no probs after that convertion
probably not a honda engine.
why honda not work?🤷🏻♂️
Unfortunately this guy does not understand the basics of using the phone to call someone like us to do the job the correct way
what would u do ?the same thing then charge him 600 bux?lol
Lol. They make different nozzles for penetrating and or flushing, and there are drop head style to make it easier to go thru traps.. also try looping the hose, try to turn the hose 360 degrees back and forth and you’ll get all the way thru
