The name of the song is Honour in Sacrifice by Denesh Sodha. One of the reasons it took so long to get out is because after Guardsman 2018, Richard was exhausted and needed a break. He was also broke lol. So he couldn't license the song until he had enough money to be able to do that. One of Richard's fans was a European Weapons expert and he helped Richard choreograph the movements for Primus during the fight after he picked up the Black Sword. He also helped with all the melee combat sequences for this episode. It was fun to watch that stream. The models for the Titan fight were built by other animators for Helsreach, they reached out to Richard to help him finish his labor of love. The Mega Guarant had been in his back pocket for a long time and like the Imperator Titan was one of the first things he found. Richard had intend to take a break and probably do a number of short stories or like until he got the call from Games Workshop. Aaron Dempski Bowden had something do with that after starting to follow Richard's work. He was torn up as the rest of us at the ending. If you scroll down, you will find his comments.
I like to believe that Arterion, Nero, Priamus, Bastillan and Cador now wait for Grimaldus at the foot of the Golden Throne, in the ranks of the Legion of the Damned. Can't go into battle without their Chaplain, after all. Zarha is there as well, of course: 'YOU ARE LATE, GRIMALDUS.' "What."
31:25 Regarding what Andre said of those who survived the last stand are as follows: -Reclusiarch Grimaldus of the Black Templars -Adjutant Quintus Cyria Tyro -Major Reikan -Guardsman Andre -4 Steel Legionnaires -Adepta Sororita Novice (the 15-year old who informed Prioress Sindel of the Black Templar's arrival and who spoke with Andre) Note: The reason why the Adepta Sororita Novice may have survived is because she didn't fight alongside her Mistress or her fellow Sisters in the last stand since she was too young and to recap when they first met the Black Templars there were 4 Sisters of Battle and only 3 were killed. It's also the reason why following the Third War for Armageddon Grimaldus would never command a squad and would always go into battle alone because he doesn't want to see his brothers die in a manner similar to the Crusaders of Helsreach.
That voice actor made the whole difference in this being as great as it was to what it could have been with a weaker/different voice... His voice is phenomenal
Such a treat, being able to binge on your reaction to these last few episodes! Such a well made series aswell. Sad for it to be over, but glad we have something to look forward to, plus i'm glad i'm not the only one who got hit by the ending. Also if it hasn't been requested, you might like The Fortress Monastery on Cloud of judgement's channel. Not a lot of plot, but a very well animated video nonetheless.
Thanks for lettin' us tag along, Old Man ;) Always felt the After Action Report from Grimaldus 3/4 down, was missin' (my favourite part), but doesn't really visually work as well as just the audio itself. In any case, warm regards to all Mankind from da Fireborn ;) And happy Sanguinala to y'all :)
It legitimately hurts as a fan to see all this great work all these wonderful movies being made by fans and almost no or zero acknowledgement from GW. Can you imagine a world where we had a full budget full lore endowed 40k movie that is true to the universe, its fans and the beauty and horror that comes with 40k? So many stories so many incredible moments throughout 40ks history.... If only. If only.
well the guy who made this is working with GW on the angels of death project. there are 2 trailers out so far and they look amazing, at least in my opinion
One thing about many of the stories I've read regarding 40k that irks me. What is the point in telling us how long squad Grimaldus fought together if in the span of a single story you are going to kill most of them? Especially with the Black Templars, they NEVER stop fighting so why not tell us a story during one of the 20 or so years where they DIDN'T die horribly?
Because that story doesn't have the emotional impact Helsreach does. Helsreach is tragic and conveys a lot of emotion because of how much goes into it. Grimaldus is angry at the loss of his mentor, he's just been elevated to the highest position possible for a Chaplain in the Black Templars. He has enormous shoes to fill, not just his mentor but the position of Reclusiarch itself. He's angered further by being placed in a defensive position, and away from the vast majority of his brothers. Black Templars are a chapter with offensive doctrine, and so being placed defensively is a great snub to them. It's a story of both growth and loss. Look at Priamus alone, just as an example. He begins the story bold, overconfident from being a self proclaimed blademaster. He snubs the average human and thinks nothing of being by their side. He ignores orders to chase glories. But he changes over the course of the story, seeing their suffering. He comforts dying humans, waits for orders. The scene he picks up the Black Sword is very important to this as well, because he's desperately wishing to be what his mentor was. An Emperor's Champion, worthy of carrying the Black Sword into battle. It's right infront of him, he can take it and carry on killing the Xeno's in revenge and in glory, but he know's its not his place. He was not chosen for the post yet and he cannot take the weapon. Grimaldus elevates him to the post, he takes the weapon and dies a martyr. Deriding the story because it has a tragic ending is failing to understand the entire point of the setup. It's a gruelling siege that costs millions of lives, thousands of cumulative years of experience from the Astartes alone in Helsreach is lost. What's the point to a story where you will be utterly unchallenged? Would you really read five hundred pages of "And then with my two hundred years of experience killing xeno's I didn't even take the most minor scratch to the paint of my armour, and then we went home and did it seven more times, never losing a single brother or failing in any way." Of course not, we all fucking hated the years Matt Ward wrote for the BL with his smurfmarines and the utterly fucking absurd characterization people like Cato Sicarius had. It's better this way.
@@uberdjura4003 I get that it's tragic, but it just feels like they all died far too easily. Bastalan gets sniped by the one Ork lucky enough to actually hit something, and dead center too so his head explodes. They go from being alive to welp guess they are dead now a bit too quickly. I'm not saying spend a hundred pages describing every little detail of how they take that thousandth cut to be brought down but at least something.
@@kerbe3 They're facing the literal single greatest WAAAGH! since the Beast. Led by the the most dangerous ork clan in the galaxy at this time, the Goff's. They go over a week before they even take a single loss despite being in melee immediately from the first day. It's a pretty good showing from Astartes in this situation. Plus it helps to not overly idealize warfare. For every heroic action, the man standing on a burning tank who goes miraculously unwounded through unfathomably lucky circumstances there's another thousand who get killed doing everything "right". That's the cruelty of warfare. It's indiscriminate, even the power armour these marines are encased in isn't immune to the fatal power of a high caliber bullet at the right trajectory. IMO, I think it was better protrayed this way. The deaths strike you harder for how immediate some of them are. How pointless even. Just my 2c.
@@uberdjura4003 That is true, they were probably fighting billions of Orks. I do see where you are coming from. “Hero of Helsreach, the crowd cheered. As if there was only one.”
not gonna lie.. "goodbye, brother..." hit me hard

You should react to Chaos Descends By Karl the Deranged, it's in the same universe as TTS
It was quite a ride to enjoy with you. I was just as blind to the story, both book and animation, as you were the latter.
I wish you well.
Our gun’s bigger than yours
