Thanks Steve for this. I have been wondering how can I use multiple audio sources with a single eARC port soundbar and TV without having to turn the TV on to listen to just music through the soundbar. This seems to be a great solution - as it has two eARC ports
Hi Steve, thanks for this. It seems like this would be a great device for me, but I just have one question. Does this support HDR as well? I know it supports 4K/60Hz but I was planning on using it for my PS5/Xbox One X in my setup
Good explanation! Question, can I do the same thing, but connected to an HP monitor? I want to do the same thing of having several devices connected and have the audio output through the sound bar, but connected to a monitor (without eARC)
I just purchased the Cinema II and will be connecting it to my Nebula Cosmos Max 4k projector and will also be using my Firestick 4k through the projector as well. How do i connect all of this via HDMI? I also have optical audio cable as well.
All of this presupposes that you have a tv that has ARC in it. I need 2 outputs one to tv the other to a Samsung sound bar with ATMOS. And at least 2 inputs on for Roku one for firestick
@Tech Steve TV I think you misunderstood my question. I was asking if I can plug my gaming console into the hdmi/arc port on my TV (use as input). I have since found out that it can be used as an input or audio output, which you can change in the input settings of the TV (at least you can in mine)
Any chance you can test this with the Next Gen Xbox, output to a 1440p/1080p 120hz(up) monitor? Maybe test the latency and if has some effects to the fps. Thanks. I’m in shop for a switcher that I can use to connect my Xbox to my tv and also my monitor.

@@TechSteve thank you! And thanks for such a quick reply! I can't say enough how great your videos are! The visuals and explanations are the best around!
Hi Steve. If I can pick your brains, I’ve got an interesting scenario, where I want 3 inputs, working across 2 outputs in the same room (Samsung Serif (EARC) and Anker Nebula 4k projector (ARC)), with all audio going through a SONOS ARC. And my ‘requirement’ is that if the inputs are producing Atmos (eg ATV input) I will get Atmos on the SONOS. So to add to the mix, I’ve picked up a HDFury Arcana. Now I’m not sure if i just split the video out from arcana to the TV and projector, and have a switch with 3 inputs running into it (2 remotes, could get messy) or if this consolidated device you’ve showcased will be the solution. I want CEC switching ideally, or one remote for source/output settings, because all gear will be out of reach.
I know this switcher works great with CEC, but i didn't test which side the volume comes out of. Great question. Contact OREI and send them a link to this video with your question info@orei.com
Steve I like how you explain content! I am new and I just subbed to your channel sir :). Now I am a 2020 Samsung QLED owner. I have one HDMI 2.1 port but would love a switcher like this for 2.1. Would you be able to know of any HDMI 2.1 splitters at 120hz?
I bought the UHD 401 and the only problem I have is that I have to manually change the output from tv speaker to my sound bar. When I had my soundbar connected straight into my tv's hdmi arc port it would automatically use the sound bar. Is there a way to do this while using the UHD 401? Currently, I have the soundbar connected to the hdmi arc input on the UHD 401. Then I have the UHD 401 connected to the hdmi arc input on my Samsung tv. My soundbar is samsung as well.
I really like this, but what worries me is if it was truly lossless then surely the tv manufacturer would make their own versions of them. As far as i know only samsung with their one connect box does something similar. I dont want to pay a lot for a tv and then end up playing content maybe not at its full quality through it.
Hi Tech Steve, I have the same Samsung tv you have here. I noticed whenever you would switch Game Mode would turn off. Does the Samsung Game Mode work with this device?
When I connected my new Samsung sound bar B550.. to this converter, there was no sound coming out of my DVD player which is also connected to this converter, can you please tell me why it does not work? Thanks
Thank you so much for your fast reply. Good product but I need something that scales down to 1080p in one output as I want to use my monitor's 4k capabilities while gaming but also my capture's card which only accepts 1080p! That's my problem! Thanks once again.

Hi @Tech Steve, I have similar switch, I have issues with getting sound from speakers connected to AVR receiver for different sources. My TV ARC hdmi port is connected to the OUT port of the switch. HDMI OUT port from the receiver goes into input 1 from the switch. (this is the only difference from Bose TV Speaker, which is IN) MY CABLE TV goes into input 2 from the switch etc... ARC is set to ON in AVR setup menu and TV audio setting is set to HDMI sound system (which detects ARC active). Any suggestion from your side?
Great video and thanks for sharing this with the community. @Tecg Steve I have a Dolby Atmos soundbar, Nvidia Shield TV and a Samsung 4K TV. I will like the TV and the Shield TV to both use the soundbar as the output speaker. Will it work If I connect the TV and the Shield TV to two input ports on this device and then connect the soundbar to the output of this device?
Great stuff! I was wondering do you have any recommendations for HDMI 2.1. I'm looking for a HDMI 2.1 switch. I only have 1 HDMI 2.1 port on my TV and I want to connect my Xbox and PS5.
Hey Steve, thank you for the video. If my PC is one of the inputs and the outputs are connected to two separate projectors - will the PC recognize the 2 outputs as 2 individual display outputs?
What do you think about this 4K UHD switcher?

This is the best explanation I have seen! Question....can the arc hdmi port on the TV be used to plug in a gaming console, or is it for output only?
I think it’s just outputs, why would you plug into a console and not a audio source

Nice video. There is some way to change the source directly from the remote of the TV instead of that little remote of the switcher?
Nope unless it’s a learning remote
(And great video, I appreciated your whiteboard scenarios. I’m stuck in between example 2&3 :)
I haven’t seen any www.avsforum.com/threads/are-there-hdmi-2-1-4k-120hz-switches.3163256/
Hi and thanks Steve. Will it fix CEC handshake issues?
Would i be able to plus an ARC soundbar into an Input and video working on both outputs?
I bought the UHD 401 and the only problem I have is that I have to manually change the output from tv speaker to my sound bar. When I had my soundbar connected straight into my tv's hdmi arc port it would automatically use the sound bar. Is there a way to do this while using the UHD 401?
Currently, I have the soundbar connected to the hdmi arc input on the UHD 401. Then I have the UHD 401 connected to the hdmi arc input on my Samsung tv. My soundbar is samsung as well.
I have a sound bar and surround sound receiver. I stream over the tv app hulu and want the option to switch between the soundbar and receiver. How?
I really like this, but what worries me is if it was truly lossless then surely the tv manufacturer would make their own versions of them. As far as i know only samsung with their one connect box does something similar.
I dont want to pay a lot for a tv and then end up playing content maybe not at its full quality through it.
I tested it and I personally can’t tell a difference but it’s just an option.
hdmi 2.1 is what I need for ps5 & xbox:X when will it get here lol??
Hi Tech Steve, I have the same Samsung tv you have here. I noticed whenever you would switch Game Mode would turn off. Does the Samsung Game Mode work with this device?
When I connected my new Samsung sound bar B550.. to this converter, there was no sound coming out of my DVD player which is also connected to this converter, can you please tell me why it does not work? Thanks
How do you connect it if you have direct TV cable box?????
Hello my friend. What is the output resolution for both A and B when connected to the same source or even different sources? Thanks
Same, max 4k 60Hz
Thank you so much for your fast reply. Good product but I need something that scales down to 1080p in one output as I want to use my monitor's 4k capabilities while gaming but also my capture's card which only accepts 1080p! That's my problem! Thanks once again.
@@TechSteve Can it do 1 output 4K and the other at 1080p at the same time? Thanks
Nope it mirrors the lowest resolution
Hey man , cool videos , and what if I want to use my Apple TV (2021) in HDMI 2.1, but also want to use my Bose smart sound bar 300 in order to have better audio experience?
I would move the apple TV to another input, Apple hasn’t turned on the 2.1 outputs yet
Well here is my non tech savvy question...I bought a 3 port switch. I have a Samsung TV with 2 ports (1 arc), a Samsung sound bar with 1arc and 1 regular. The problem is the connection to the arris cable box from spectrum. It doesn't seem to read it. Any help would be greatly appreciated
if I have sony Bravia KD-85X9000H that have 1 hdmi Arc port
and I want to connect
1. soundbar HT-A9
2. Apple TV box
3. bluray
4. headphone JVC exofield
which model of orei to buy for this connection / thanks
Can you connect two of these to one tv if you need more hdmi ports? What cable can be used to hook up two hdmi switch to a tv with one hdmi input?
You van hook up as many as you like, 1 per hdmi port and I recommend HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2
So i can connect my soundbar to this through hdmi 2.0 wihtout using earc on my tv a reply would be appreciated thanks
Try this and it works on and HDMI display ua-cam.com/video/1pzvVwp_mew/v-deo.html
Good video does this one support Dolby Atmos and Dts x?
Please use the links in the description to see more specs
??? So, I have a Philips Hue Sync Box. Will I still need the HDMI Switcher ???? I heard that for every device there should be two outputs.
I haven’t tried it
What a chad 🤘

Hi @Tech Steve,
I have similar switch, I have issues with getting sound from speakers connected to AVR receiver for different sources.
My TV ARC hdmi port is connected to the OUT port of the switch.
HDMI OUT port from the receiver goes into input 1 from the switch. (this is the only difference from Bose TV Speaker, which is IN)
MY CABLE TV goes into input 2 from the switch etc...
You don’t need an adapter, plug the soundbar into the HDMI arc and the shield into another hdmi.
@@TechSteve Wow! and will Dolby Atmos content from the Shield TV get to soundbar without distortion?
I don’t use Dolby Atmos so it’s free to test before you buy anything. Otherwise I don’t want to guess and give you incorrect info
what if you have two different soundbars?
Great stuff! I was wondering do you have any recommendations for HDMI 2.1. I'm looking for a HDMI 2.1 switch. I only have 1 HDMI 2.1 port on my TV and I want to connect my Xbox and PS5.
I’ve been looking for that to film but I haven’t seen any on the market
How does this device with a definitive technology W soundbar? I am having issue withe arc
If I want to use a projector (or tv) WITHOUT ARC, will the switcher send audio to my HDMI home theater (or sound bar)?
Hey Steve, thank you for the video. If my PC is one of the inputs and the outputs are connected to two separate projectors - will the PC recognize the 2 outputs as 2 individual display outputs?
